And if you're going to go B/W auras, how can you not have High Priest of Penance?
and back to cockatrice i go. hitting two off color mana is tough is the main reason, but I can bite the bullet and get maybe some other shocks for better fixing.

Went to Modern Monday at my LGS tonight with my playable but not perfect infect deck and went 2-1. Lost to BUW control, won against USA aggro (I think?) and BW tokens.
I used my $6 in store credit to buy a bunch of foil basics to pimp out my EDH decks
Drop black entirely. Move Madcap skills to main, switch out Dreadbore for Searing Spear, switch Deviant Glee for Rancor and switch Knight of Infamy for Ash Zealot.
If you switch out your Blood Crypts for Stomping Grounds, your Dragonskull summits for Rootbound Crags, your Isolated Chapels for Sunpetal Groves and your Godless Shrine for Temple Garden, you have 17/20 sources making red mana, which should be fine for Ash Zealot, and 10/20 green sources for Rancor, which should also be fine. I would also drop the High Proest of Penance for a flint hoof Boar. As for the Gift of Orzhova, probably drop it for main decking Volcanic Strength as red is very popular right now.
Basically this feels like an aggro deck, so you want things in there to speed up the killing of your opponent.

madcap is ridonk
I may try and slam together a gruul deck, I've got a shitload of their stuff
I should come up with a list of singles I want to get and try and trade for them/sell to the store for them this friday
But most of the people who are like "do you have trades" are crazy fuckers who have like 4 pages double sided of mind grind and I dont even know what they want from me

this was one of my initial thoughts but I stuck to BRW because its my fave color combo. probably gonna try it tho

I am gonna try at least one FNM with BWR though, if only because I'm a stubborn mule and I already have a Naya Blitz deck so I'm not really eager to make another Naya deck.
I really like the idea of pumping the hell out of Stromkirk or Cackler with all those auras.
It's not necessarily trying to play a ton of creatures early which is why I took Ash Zealot out when it was more Mono Red in favor of creatures that can give my one guy exalted. And High Priest of Penance because I love that card s/o to @Taramoor

I just built this up real quick. Real talk I forgot Alpha Authority was a card. And that you can pair it with Madcap Skills. What do you think of this SOTAR?

I kind of wanna find room for Curse of Stalked Prey because it seems like it'd be cool with Trample and Stromkirk Nobles. Maybe a SB option against control decks that don't run mountains?

That sounds better. Curse of Stalked Prey has less of an immediate impact than other auras.
if they took away banding then what mechanic would we have to point at and say "why"
Bands with Others is still pretty much the most confusing thing I've seen in all of Magic, and I vaguely remember a couple cards that only had abilities made to take away Bands with Others
I actually run
in my banding deck. It is glorious, banding lets you win every combat ever and General Jarkeld let's me win other people's combats.
No one happened to have an exile spell in that game and my Abu Jaffar did soooo much work.

I miss banding, back when I played, you'd see the smart players loading 4 Benalish heros into the weenie decks, "Chump block with all the power of this other guy added , and only kill the benalish? don't mind if I do.
i'm thiiiinking about furor of the bitten and whether it's worth running maindeck if my dudes are gonna ideally be unblockable. or at least have first strike and trample.
I don't want to be that guy but if you're going to be playing the aggro auras deck you need Invisible Stalkers and Geist of St. Traft.
I say this because when you're using auras you need to insure that your opponent isn't going to immediately set you back multiple cards+multiple turns worth of mana with a single searing spear or azorius charm (which is their 1 turn of mana and 1 card). If you're going to be opening up yourself to those kinds of blowouts then your auras are nothing better than really bad burn spells that only sometimes hurt the opponent.
Invisible Stalker and Geist of St. Traft guarantee that your auras stay on the creature they were put on, and also provide and pretty relevant clock+evasion as well.
There is your traditional Bant Auras deck:
4 Avacyn's Pilgrim
4 Invisible Stalker
4 Geist of St Traft
3 Silverblade Paladin
3 Wolfir Avenger
I really dig that Modern Sneak and Show deck they had on the MTG.com daily decklists. The one that used Through the Breach and Goryo's Vengeance to cheat out Emrakul or Griselbrand? That's another one that would be pretty cheap to build if you just had all those Emrakul and Griselbrands.

like, i'm aware than Bant auras is a thing. obviously.
i was just trying to do something different. and also play around cards i don't have access to and cannot afford.
There are a few cheap hexproof greens.
Might be better then nothing.
Lumberknot. You can get Lumberknots for like, a quarter. I'm amazed that people don't use them more, especially in Simic or Golgari decks.
4cmc is a problem
Well I mean by definition it's not a 1-drop. I'm just responding to the question of cheap (to buy at a store I mean) and effective hexproof creatures.
Obviously useless in a Gruul deck but surprisingly effective for a slower build. It makes my opponents want to block and kill creatures with scavenge even less.
I don't think this was posted yet: So there's a Kickstarter going on to create a 20th anniversary MTG art book, featuring the original cards artists doing new original pieces based on their original cards.

I think its more that you never want to spend 4 mana on a creature that's 1/1.

Yeah, I've been following it and waiting until i get paid to chip in. It's pretty awesome they got that together. I really hope it gets to the 85k stretch goal.

The competition for them isn't as intense as it is for the cheaper drops and so I can snag combat tricks along with my cheap defensive cards.
