Hm, since someone else in my cluster wanted to go Education, maybe I'll go tourism/travel. But maybe I'll just stick with Univer-city for the heck of it.

I'm an Origin pre-order, but I have a 350kB/s connection, and I will most probably not be done with the download and online until probably 6pm ET tomorrow, but if by then there's still no Titan Gorge... I'll make it :P
Just one person needs to start a new region, and then set it as private, they can then invite people to it.
And then anyone who is invited to that region can also invite people.
So we don't really need a Region Commander to start it up at first, just whoever gets it downloaded and installed first.
After that we can sort out who will be the "leader" of the region for helping sort out great works etc.

The one thing we want to be wary of is multiple people in the same region thinking they are the first, leaving us to sort which one will be the "real region" later, possibly after multiple people have already started their cities. It's not the end of the world, but it's the kind of little thing that contributes to the nightmare of multiplayer coordination.

well as long as they announce it into the thread, and people wait for the invites, it should work out ok. With the variances in people's download speeds, and free time at release, we shouldn't get too many available to make the regions right away.
If we have just one person as the "region commander" to make it, people can go learn some stuff and mess around in their own regions first until they get the invite for their PA region.
Oh well, guess I was too late to get in to any region. Zooom cancel preorder.

Having a person who's job it is to get the region going I think is the best way to go. It keeps confusion down, and people are free to get their single player regions going (because lets face it, everyone will have one).

Why would you do that? I fully expect to be starting multiple regions, which I'll be inviting people into if they want. I'm sure others will be doing similarly. We might be forming "official" PA regions, but I assure you there are going to be tons of unofficial ones.

Gentlemen - it is my honor to be your neighbor. I have a heavy Oil/Coal site - my plan is heavy industry, but I do want to go high tech with it, so I will start off where I need to then attempt to become the model of green industry. This also means I plan to try and educate my sims, so I will be building a university if you wish to use my facilities.

I think this is the best solution. Someone else in Viridian Woods #1 volunteer! I do plan to start the download as soon as I can tonight. I probably will not stay up to play tonight however and I do not leave work until 6PM Eastern.
The spreadsheet, are those PA names or Origin names? I ask because mine is the same. I sent out a LOT of origin invites over the weekend. If there is anyone else on Viridian Woods #1 whom I missed, please send an invite. I will try to do the same. Hopefully that way we'll get it all sorted out.

Shrug, dunno. I don't have very many friends to play games with over the internet, so a game that's so very focused on playing with other people that you know to some extent becomes a lot less interesting when you're not assured people to play with. Amazon probably won't let me cancel it anyway since it's already shipping soon, but we'll see.
This new SimCity's size constraints are good given the mp system, but I have little desire to play them all by myself, which is what would end up happening!
Oh yeah, I'm going to put my diseased sims all inside your hospitals. I hope you like my trams, because you'll be riding them ALL NIGHT LONG... to my ferries. They're so wet.
No I don't.

@Triiipledot: You're origin name in the big list is wrong, what is it?

As has been said, i personally expect to be running 2-3 cities at any given time so i wouldn't worry about it,a nd it looks like you can max out a city in a week or so of moderate playing and then what's left to do but start over w/ something new? I wouldn't expect a lack of regions to be an issue at all.

Reticulate my splines you big, manly mayor.
You lit my fire, but my water tower blew its top too early, so now the firemen don't have anything for their hoses. But that's ok, I'm fine with you bulldozing all of my rubble. Just as long as you don't mind my llamas nibbling on your grassy parks, I don't mind our cities getting a little dirty.
So far it appears I have Kazoo Basin! I love that name. I also appear to be with @Atlas in Chains, @Dignified Pauper and @Veagle so far, what are you guys thinking town-wise?
I'm thinking education/business/tourist with mine. One of those or some sort of combination.
I'm going to build a totally coastal rad town with a trade port to make certain the goods of our tradesmen are shipped all over the world!

Seconded. This is going to make this thread a lot of fun to watch I think.

Is there a way to view the results without filling out the form again?
I think my region got some of the late additions that never filled out the form, so no name. And one is wrong. I've @ ed them all to get the info.
