This update to SimCity contains the following updates and fixes:
General
• Update to the “select a server” dialog in the game launcher. This will now indicate which servers you have active cities on
• Fix issue where selection shard did not display when previously selected server is down
• We've fixed a problem where some players were getting stuck when switching shards in the server select menu
@That_Guy huh, I thought I did friend you, but I guess it was just another Angry Dome player. Whoops.
Anyways, did send you a request now, and I'd like to get in on the new Angry Dome if there are still spots. In the meantime, it's hard to resist wanting to go play on Antarctica server.
For education, does the game require you keep the grade school after you have a high school? (ignoring real life logic here)
Cause the per person cost of a high school seems better and I could save some cash if the grade school isn't needed.
I definitely have a High School, and no grade school, in Greater Hong Kong.
I'm also about to do another taxbomb/teardown, because the grid I tried to use for traffic didn't work. Experimenting in a solo-region to find something that actually is even semi-functional. Two big traffic related thoughts I've had recently; it looks like one of the biggest causes of gridlock is cars waiting to turn left, and not being able to because of oncoming traffic.

• Opened 1 new server, Antarctica
Nothing to see here folks.
You know this has made me realise something.
How come Asia has no servers?
I have to ask why there needs to be a server in Antarctica but not Asia.
Why the fuck is there a Antarctica server? Obviously the server is not there, but why call it that? It's not as if the servers are located where the name says they are. It makes sense to call it EUW or EUE so all the EU's know where to go, and the same for NAE and NAW. But i don't think many people live in Antarctica.
On the plus side, it does tell you now what servers you have cities on.
Welp, so much for that. Turns out the indication of where you have cities on what server does not work. It seems I have a cities on servers i never visited before.
Yeah I have residents in my city saying, "No shopping in this town!" And a short ways away, stores that say, "No shoppers!"
Fuck you, sims.
I've had this happen in localized areas. It turns out that I had a sewage pathing bug such that poop was piling up and polluting commerical buildings across the street from residential. The commerce buildings kept being abandoned because they had no customers. It turns out the locals didn't want to shop in poop filled buildings.
I'd say try to find out why your shoppers aren't willing to go next door. Is there pollution or crime keeping them away?
@billgates during the Lets All Be Mayor thing, someone was voting from Antartica (the ip, at least), and it was kind of a running joke.
@Robes its likely you're getting a shit ton of low income and no high income shoppers or something. If the charts we've seen are right, then shops have limited selling potential, while also having an expected income. So if cheap Sims use up all the shops selling potential, it could end up way under revenue goals which might cause that.
Also explains the "no shopping!" "No shoppers!" thing.

Not entirely true. If you send the specialized public service (Detectives, Wellness, etc) then it does count against you and you will have one less in your city. Sending standard public does not count against you.
So I logged in today and Arcadian Delta no longer shows up on my cities list. I went there to visit some of the other cities on the map to find that my plot does not even exist anymore. There are only 3 cities in my former cluster of 4. Anybody got any ideas?
Well, I seem to have run into on of the Recycling centre bugs also. My trucks simply will not leave the depot. My city is max education, and there are over 7000 recycling boxes that need to be picked up, but the trucks just won't take off. Garbage collection still works (inefficiently) but not recycling.
I think the problem is that the centre works both as a collection and processing centre. If it gets destroyed, (either by bulldozing or disaster), putting a new one puts in a permanent shut down state, as it stays closed until it gets some "recyclables", but since it's "closed" it won't go get the recyclables it needs, getting it stuck in a feedback loop and just sucking up income.
May have to shelve this city until the problem is resolved, because now the recycling is piling up and sims are complaining of garbage pileup.
Also: question for you big city people: how are you handling garbage collection? I have no major traffic problems, and a fully upgraded dump, but my trucks are unable to get to every site in time. How does it work for you guys? Is this just a traffic pathing issue?

I love how the wealthy think that 11% is too high of a tax. Your shit should be at 30% you mother fuckers.
Did they fix global market transactions yet? I was trying to do a full oil export city last night, and oil was selling for the minimum 4500 on the market, but I'm watching a streamer and they're selling coal for like 25000.

Here is my 240k+ population city. It has no traffic other than bus conga-lines.
How'd you manage the traffic?
I'd love to know that as well. My 260k city is a traffic hell-hole, it's basically dead at this point. I've got 45k riding the streetcars, another 30k riding in buses, and another 40k coming in by train (landlocked, so no ferry). I'm thinking about just flooding my city with park 'n' rides. I tried to strategically place train stations in a loop around my city, but 80-90% of the trains seem to just pick up at the first station, then turn around and leave. I've also got like 50 buses coming in from neighboring cities, which only compounds the problem.
Or I might just raze the whole thing and start from scratch :P

To make people finally realize the server names are meaningless and spread out instead of stuffing themselves all on one server they think will give them less lag. Of course they're about a week too late.
So... anyone in @veitsev's Penny Arcadia area running a University that could research the upgraded (vertical) wind turbines for me? I'll happily pay your research fees (if money transactions are working - if not I will simply smile genially in your direction).
Just made a region on EDIT, ON WEST 4 now. I'm actually NA east, but it really doesn't matter for this game and Oceanic 2 is so much easier to get on right now.
Region: We Are Nice Guys :: NA West 4 Its Private, so send me a message on Origin for an invite. Same username: Badwrong
And lets try to only take 1 plot per person, unless it literally breaks... which happened to me in our other region.
Interesting, so most of the servers look full, but I notice a random smattering of them are available and they're all the ones I have a city on. Does the game give you priority access to a server if you have a city there?

Mine is currently running the Gen II Nuke Plant Research. I could run the Wind Turbine after, assuming my city survives long enough.

How's the server stability these days? I'm kinda in the mood to be god for a while.

Maybe there are no shoppers because ITS A BANK! Sims are stupid IMO.

So always send every one of your vehicles to neighboring cities to help out. It gives you money and saves them money, costing you nothing.

thats kinda lame, is this a public region?
Not sure why there isnt a 1 city per person option when you create a region.

You can get away with really high taxes so long as they are happy about everything else most of the time.

I had two residential skyscrapers with no qualms beforehand become fully abandoned after 1 hour of increased taxes. =/
