Why the fuck is there a Antarctica server? Obviously the server is not there, but why call it that? It's not as if the servers are located where the name says they are. It makes sense to call it EUW or EUE so all the EU's know where to go, and the same for NAE and NAW. But i don't think many people live in Antarctica.
On the plus side, it does tell you now what servers you have cities on.
To make people finally realize the server names are meaningless and spread out instead of stuffing themselves all on one server they think will give them less lag. Of course they're about a week too late.
Ha yeah people still won't realize that until they name a server 'Llama'

I'm finally able to get on NAeast2 and will now be doing the last ditch effort to save my dying city. All viewable live, and commentated if I can think of anything to say. http://www.justin.tv/davidsdurions
So... anyone in @veitsev's Penny Arcadia area running a University that could research the upgraded (vertical) wind turbines for me? I'll happily pay your research fees (if money transactions are working - if not I will simply smile genially in your direction).
Mine is currently running the Gen II Nuke Plant Research. I could run the Wind Turbine after, assuming my city survives long enough.
That'd be great. I'm butting right up against my power limitations with the regular turbines -- my tourists need juice!
So do the less laggy servers reliably support cross-region service sharing yet? Haha I love this game, but I'm taking a break until I can actually take advantage of the coolest feature in it, and the only one that makes up for the lack of tile size.

I haven't had any trouble with service sharing (except for sewage, but I think that's a different bug) since Friday.
Not entirely true. If you send the specialized public service (Detectives, Wellness, etc) then it does count against you and you will have one less in your city. Sending standard public does not count against you.
Yeah. What we've observed so far is that if you send Wellness Vans/Detectives/Crime Prevention/Fire Marshals, those guys will actually leave for real pretty much all the time. If you send regular services, they'll pop over every now and again in certain amounts. The game doesn't seem to properly calculate what is 'extra' for prevention services.
Of course, I don't think Fire Marshals are working at all right now, which is annoying because they were before.
Played for about 6 hours; didn't have any problems (though when I logged out I did get a "Sync. . ." error so I'm guessing I'll be losing some progress).
I do wish some of the mission notifications and icons weren't like RIGHT on the edge of the screen which causes scrolling.

Assuming it's the message I'm thinking of, that's not an error, it just means you've played a little since your last sync. Let it sit there and it will do a sync with your most recent update.
So, I'm kind of tempted to try and do a city with several 'disconnected' branches only accessible through Streetcar or Train. You'd have to connect them with roads to start as the construction trucks won't get there otherwise, but you can disconnect afterwards. I wonder if that might do interesting things with preventing them from moving out and blocking global traffic.
I'm not sure how well it would work, though, given that cities with multiple Streetcar depots seem to have issues with Streetcars flat out not leaving the depot and screwing you.
Gentlemen, where is Underwood? I thought I managed to claim my spot but that was the morning after launch, so I don't even know if it stuck, or if you guys moved or something.
2,000 crates of chips are produced for every 10 tons of alloy and 1,000 crates of plastic used to make the chips. Does this mean the profit, not including maintenance costs, is about double the cost for the input assuming you only import the ingredients?

I never got in, I've been messing around on various other regions until someone can invite me
I think Viridian Woods #1 has the crime bug as well. At least in the little area I'm in. I see 154 Criminals per day, I'm making 54 arrests per day, however, there are 0 crimes committed per day. Also, when viewing the crime map, there's hardly any actual crime or criminals listed. At the moment I see one actual criminal on the map and history for one crime. So that's fun. I'm wondering if maybe we should consider remaking all of the originally created regions now that we know what we're doing and to hopefully flush out some bugs.

That's not really how you need to look at it, but something like that.
What you want to do is calculate:
Costs:
Costs of input/day assuming buying from market
Maintenance/hour
Revenue:
Price of output/day assuming selling to market
Balance:
[Price of output * lots of output/day - costs of input * lots of input/day]/24 - Maintenance/hour
Following the production chain from start to finish, with Arcadia Delta 1's region prices (from memory 4.5k~ for Coal, 5.8k~ for Ore, 48k~ for Alloy, 18k for Plastic, 67k for Processors, 197k~ for TVs)
Ore extractor is +2.7k/hr
Alloy Smelter is +13k/hr
Processor is +6.7k/hr
TVs is +33k/hr
I don't remember what Coal is but it's around +2.4k for a Basic, didn't do the numbers for the Advanced one. Computers is less +per hour than TVs with current prices (148k for Computers, takes Alloy instead of Plastic) and Metal is less +per hour than Alloy at the Smelter.

so, uh, i built a lot of oil drills to exploit my natural resources
i have three trade depots that are stuffed full of crude oil that i can't possibly export fast enough. my drills have all shut down because they are at full storage. how do i facilitate exports? I built a bunch of oil and freight trucks but neither seemed to do the trick.

Turn the drills off for a bit. You'll still make money from the exports, and you can turn them back on when supply gets low.
Build a refinery right next to your depots. Set it to make plastic or gas. Export that too.
Trade ports can handle more than depots. Route your industrial freight through one of them and have all 12 of your depot lots devoted to oil gas and plastic.
Check your traffic. Make sure it's a clear run from well -> depot -> refinery -> out of town.
If that all doesn't work I don't know what to say.

Its intermittent. The game is only becoming more playable for me as time goes on because I'm learning to play around the game-breaking bugs. The region view is insisting I have no tourists or shoppers coming in from neighbouring regions and yet when I click the little guys as they leave the train station it tells me they're from the cities next door. My power and sewage import/export deals kept randomly cutting out, but I have no way of knowing whether that's because the guy next door was actually playing and running out of those things, or the online features of this game have the stability of a middle-eastern dictatorship. I'm going to go with the latter since I've had the same happen with two cities I control where I deliberately had a huge excess of both.
So basically if you want the game to be semi-playable:
- Make your city as self-sufficient as possible, do not rely on neighbour deals
- Don't make any mass transit routes more complicated than a straight line
- Don't upgrade your police/fire utilities too far, just build more of them and spread them out
- Forget about recycling, its utterly broken
And to answer an earlier question, the Asian players seem to be on the Oceania servers at the moment. I've just had a huge influx of Chinese students from a neighbouring city because of my new university, so I guess art imitates life and all that.

Get a Trade port as well to move stuff via rail and sea, they will move more stuff for you than your trucks. They can also hold more in between deliveries.

Got on the NAEast1 server to try and save my original city. Paused to turn off all expenses and tax bomb the citizens and as soon as i unpause, a lizard comes and eats my nuclear reactor. Fall out everywhere. Whats the point.

In-game its not showing the new friends i accepted... so i cant send invites it seems.
edit: nevermind, its because i made a city on oceanic 2 a few days ago so I can get in. So it wont let others join me... finding a different server.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
you can only send invites to friends who are logged into your server. Dumb, I know
For example, if I'm logged into NA East 1 and you're on Oceanic, you won't see me.
You can still chat in the Origin client though
Sent you a friend request. Shoot me an invite wherever you make a new region?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
NA or EU? I also still dont see you in origin
NA West 4
And i noticed this game loves to put origin status to invisible...

I might have saved that original one, I'll revisit it from time to time.
Also, added the streaming link to my sig for convenient non-spammy means.

Municipal taxes, man. 11% *is* high.
Maybe that's high for municipal taxes, but they're not paying any other taxes. There is no State or Nation to pay taxes *to*.

Ayup.
Even Gambling Houses are a little inconsistent, but should still produce a small profit.
Problem is, I'm running out of water. Going to PM my region mates and beg for water.
