Welcome to DayZ. A world where a zombie outbreak somehow happened and now you have to avoid/kill them all. But the main danger is MAN. Using the ARMA 2 engine, run across the countryside with your guy that makes marathon runners his bitch. A bunch of us play on the BMRF servers. Join us, and together we can rule Chernarus (and other maps!). Also a bunch of us hang out in a Mumble server to coordinate.

To get DayZ to Work (along with all the other DayZ mods):

Step 1:Install Arma2/Arma2 OA
-DON'T install DayZ on steam

Step 2: Run both arma2/oa

Step 3:
-Install DayZ Commander (http://www.dayzcommander.com/) for all vanilla/alternate mod needs
-Install DayZero Launcher (http://zombies.nu/community/threads/3292/) for all DayZero needs

Step 4:
Install appropriate mod from one of the above sources

Step 5:
Whitelist on bmrf (http://bmrf.me/vbforums/register.php)

Step 6:
When something still inevitably goes wrong make a post asking for help.

except like, fancier and prettier.

Oh and also Mumble Information to coordinate on how to kill zombies/mans:

Yahoo! A new thread! That's a cool video and takes me back to a time when the world of dayz was still filled with wonder and mystery. hahaha

Wombat, Ham and I had some adventures in cherno earlier. I think we killed 6 people altogether, I ended up getting dead to a guy with a revolver and hatchet. Ham had to log, and later on I got back on and met up with wombat again and we worked over cherno a bit more once again till I got sniped. Then trying to respawn close to cherno I got the following spawns: Komorovo, Krutoy Cap, Kamenka, Komorovo, Kamenka, Komorovo, Elektro, Kamenka, Kamenka, Komorovo, Elektro, Kamenka. I am dead serious I think that is precisely the order and amount of respawns I got trying to get back there, I have never had such bad luck. Eventually wombat died too and then I got another elektro spawn and he happened to too.

We shot a dude or two, both shot at a van with double barrels which was pretty hilarious and that's where we logged.

Fun times tonight. The Siege of the Factory turned out pretty well, all things considered.

We went in with crap and came out with 3 cars, 50 cal, SAW, l85, and an assortment of other guns and gear, I'd say that went pretty well! Also, zombies projected from being hit by cars can kill you which is something I've been curious about and found out first hand!

Maybe next time I'll try to record our adventure. I woulda liked to have that shot I got on the guy in the car recorded, it was pretty cheat codes.

  • Karrde1842Karrde1842 Registered User regular
Not gonna lie, I'd like to have a gif of the zombie launching from my car straight into you.

I just want to say that the past few weeks playing on BMRF with you guys has been some of the most fun and memorable gaming I've ever done. Thanks!

Also, let it be known that I stormed the factory upon respawn with a crossbow. I got one shot off into the chest of another survivor before being killed 10 minutes before a server restart. I REGRET NOTHING.

I probably should take my Ural for a ride tonight before the guys who own the helis find it.

Today I played way way too much DayZ.

My throat hurts from spending all day talking/yelling in Mumble with you all.

So I am history's greatest monster.

Some guy was super excited about DayZ RP, planning on being honourable and playing nicely and everything.

Meanwhile, we're filling our water bottles east of Mogilevka, and just as we're about to move I spot a survivor. He's looking right at us, so I pop him in the head with the DMR. Whoops, turns out it was super friendly RP guy.

I actually don't feel toooo bad, but still! I'm a murderer!

Yes, you are. And right after you left, I nailed a guy at about 200m in the head w/ my ACOG. Felt reeeeeeeal good. Then we got ambushed by a guy who didn't kill any of us but we killed him real good. Good night of DayZ. Killed a bunch of guys, learned not to combat roll off of dams, and we all ended up with decent loot (aka not dead).

I thought that we learned that combat rolling off a dam is a perfectly valid escape tactic.

That's what I learned. It's my new go to plan.

I got to do the second best job of dayz, which is being the guy who gets shot so everyone can shoot the bad guy. This is second best only to the best job of dayz, which is being the guy who shoots the guy. So I am satisfied, even though I don't think I shot anyone today.

Oh I also saved a guy in elektro so I guess I feel good about that too.

All in all it was a good day in Chernarus. I learned that Bororm is on to something, the double barrel is god. Oh, and Fyndir ran me over with a car. (It was an accident. I got a wee bit too close while it was moving.)

We were actually not far away from where you were, but the others decided that we should head to Cherno and pick up Mantrap instead (because there was still a sliver of doubt that you were where I assumed you were).

I wasn't really on top of my game yesterday - I'm a bit sad I lost my M4A1 Holo since that was the first time I found that gun.

I think it was funny that we didn't meet a single soul in Elektro because I gambled on Elektro being kinda empty when I decided to take the coastal road. I feel a bit silly about crashing into that lightpost.

  • FyndirFyndir Registered User regular
Platy, you missed out on me proving that your crash was probably overall beneficial later on when I tried to get to Cherno through Elektro in a car and we got blown the fuck up.
I was driving through blaring the horn and I forgot which turn to take to avoid a dirt road so we got slowed down a lot.

I took the coastal road because, for some strange reason, I had a lot of trouble orientating myself yesterday - either my brain was playing tricks on me or I had already forgotten much of the map layout after not playing on Chernarus for a few weeks. I had also spotted a chopper earlier when I was still on my own. It later passed over me again while I was looking for a wheel for the car which sat by the castle, but I didn't feel confident enough to take shots at it.

The situation at the castle, when you were stranded at the top and some attacker was slowly making his way up to you, was actually pretty cool, although I handled it really badly. The timing of my arrival was perfect, but I was in a bit too much of a hurry to save you from your assailant. I should have proceeded more carefully and coordinated myself with you (although I was really worried he would kill you while you were administering morphine or something).

I know I've mentioned it in mumble, but I would like to echo the sentiment that playing with you all on BMRF has been some of the most fun I've had on DayZ in a loooong time. You are awesome. Yes, even you.

This was after I bailed on Fyndir when he tried to run a friendly player down and, after failing to hit him, jumped out of the car and shot him repeatedly.

I feel I made the right choice in that situation.

Mantrap is pro moves and if she'd just take more initiative she would be unstoppable, like me, but less good looking. At least until you shave that goatee.

For reals though, I've never had to explain to her how to get any where even on her fresh spawns when she's just navigating off internet maps (and she is new to chernarus. and extra note: compare to all of fucken us last night getting lost with compasses and maps haha), she pretty much hits every guy she has ever shot at, she sees everything, she is sneaky and she wants to shoot or blow everything up.

Not that I'm terrified to go into towns, I just usually don't unless I need something like to raid a supermarket or whatever. The other 99% of the time I spend running through the woods where nobody can find me.

Sooo today had lots of adventures. At one point the server crashed again and for a while a post went up being like "O man we are done trying to deal with all these crashes, we're giving up and taking the servers down FOREVER till the standalone, SEE YA." So that was like oh damn that sucks we finally found a cool server and here it goes just like that. But then a while later they just deleted that post entirely and pretended it never happened because some one sent them a fix.

Other than that we shot lots of dudes and did lots of things. While the servers were down, Fyndir, Mantrap and myself jumped on a public server and shot up a bunch of newbies in cherno and elektro. Later Ham and Wombat got on and we had a lot of shootings, Ham, Wombat and myself had a shoot out tonight all over the NEAF. We must have run into 6-7 other players, making up about 3 or 4 different groups. I died twice, wombat once but I think we came out on top especially because later Nova jumped on and we went back up and looted everyone. I believe the total kill count on our part was perhaps 5?

Any ways I recorded a lot of stuff today so I have slapped it all together and will upload it tonight hopefully, but it's going to take a bit. Unfortunately I am a lazy asshole and I only have windows movie maker sooo it's basically just straight gameplay with a couple notes. I can't even seem to just freeze a frame in WMM so I didn't bother showing that Ham really did see a dude at the tent by that hedge grove, but he did, for realies, we must have just missed him as we went around it.

Here's a post summing up the whole stability issues:
    http://bmrf.me/vbforums/showthread.php?3416-Explanation-of-recent-server-instability

Guess it was an attack, which is what I pretty much figured it was since the normal dayz forums haven't been blowing up with people saying their servers are going nuts from the patches or anything.

If I remember correctly, we engaged those two at Olsha radio tower (Wombat kill count: 1, Hamuel kill count: 1), then we saw the guy at the tent, then you died, then I picked you up, then Wombat died, then you killed M4D MAX (Borom kill count: 1), then I killed Elliot (Hamuel kill count: 2), then Chris died to zed hilariously, then you died again (Hero?), then I killed Nathan (Hamuel kill count: 3), then I "picked up" you and Nova. I think that's 6 in total, since I am counting Chris's death.
