Yes it's a licensed game.
Yes it's a licensed game based on an anime.
Yes it's a licenced game based on the anime Naruto.

But watch this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3hw_iOtoWs

CC2 (Previous Naruto games and Asura's Wrath) put a level of detail and care behind these games. The previous games rest at a respectable 75ish on Metacritic, so even if you're not a fan of the material they're worth checking out. They're not the deepest fighting games, fitting more into the Smash Brothers/Powerstone side of things, but still really fun.

Anyways, figured I could get a list of players for anyone that's planning on getting it.

Yeah, I'll probably get it on 360. I really enjoyed the previous games.
And I have a burning passion for the series, stop looking at me like that!

I love these games and have for a while. I did hate the last one because they removed almost all the story and Konoha village.

I can't pick this up for awhile, but is it true they put the village back in?

It's a beautiful game with really fun combat (well single player, the multi is sketchy).

Also, so far behind in the series.

I didn't care for Generations, but Ninja Storm 2 was fun. My wife also wants me to get it(she's a fan of the anime).

So yeah, sag616 on the 360.

Yeah this is one has the light RPG single player mode back from 2, including some insane looking boss battles.

    Oh god yes.

CC2 taking lessons learned from Asura's Wrath adapting the most batshit insane Naruto arc? DO WANT.

And it dropping in August is even better, since it gives them time to include
Reworked 1st and 2nd Hokage, Obito, and GOD MODE MANDARA. All my dicks, ect.

I know nothing about Naruto, but these games are possibly the most entertaining fighting games to watch. They're really well done.

i've played the last one with my cousin. He wasn't a huge fan of it because apparently they dumbed/slowed it down a lot compared to whatever ps2 game was before but we still had a bit of fun beating each other up and i had no idea who most of the characters were since apparently my knowledge of the show ended way before this one is placed in terms of roster.

i'm keeping an eye on it. not sure about it yet. the single player looks crazy though

I was told this had RPG mode with random battles but instead you spent 10 minutes in town which had only two quests available as far as I know, after that you take of to War and it's endless cutscenes until the next fight. A bit dissapointing.

Also what's with the inconsistent boss fights? Some battles are the regular 1v1 with normal abilities and unlocks new characters afterward like Mifune vs Hanzo which was amazing but then you fight againt Gingaku and Kingaku and it's dynasty warriros mode with abilities, They could have made every battle epic but instead let us miss out some amazing could have been fights.

I was also expecting a lot more playable characters which is also inconsistent, we get Hanzo but not other cool characters like the 7 swordsmen or the Brothers mentioned above. Really strange.

I bought this today actually. The combat is fun, but I have zero knowledge about Naruto.
    I'm very lost.

Read the manga, watch the show or read up on it on the wiki to have a clue what's going on.

There are three things going on, Naruto's way to become Hokage which is basically their word for major of ninja town, Sasuke was once his childhood friend but felt betrayed by his village and joined sort of the darkside and swore revenge. Naruto's quest to get Sasuka back on their side and there's the Ninja World War to save the world.

Ninja World War sounds super badass.

I actually think that the story mode does a fantastic job of telling the story, apart from a few stumbles here and there.

The problem is that it picks up halfway through an ongoing story, so if you don't know what's happening already you're going to be lost anyways. Definitely a fan only kind of thing.

I still think Ninja Storm 2 is the best of the bunch. This one ain't bad, though. Way too many cutscenes, and some surprising playable character omissions(no Edo Kages? No Kin/Gin? No Pakura? 9tails chakra as awakening only and Bijuu mode as Ultimate Jutsu only?)

    Still, it's better than Generations.

I don't mind the cutscenes as they doing a good job of retelling the story.

Though at this point I think they should cut out the RPG mode since it doesn't really add anything. Just do fight-cutscene-fight-etc.

I realised I'm more interested in a pure fighting game with every character than a story-based game since I know everything already or a story based game with an RPG instead of cutscene-fight-cutscene-fight.

Just completed the Challenge tournament, a little dissapointing because it had fewer ranks and was easier than the Generations tourmanents.

So I know zero about these game or the anime except I played a little of the first one and liked being able to explore the village in between fights. Do any of the later ones in this series have that?

  • RubycatRubycat Registered User regular
Ultimate Ninja storm 2 for sure has you able to run around Konoha village (I own this one)

I don't know anything about Naruto but that looks crazy. I kind of both want and do not want it at the same time. I want to play it, but what if I like Naruto? Then I'd want to read / see all of it and I don't think I have the strength for a series that long, or is it still going?

  • Magic PinkMagic Pink Tur-Boner-Fed Registered User regular
I think it's still going. Also, there's a hyper super special edition of Ninja Storm 3 coming out in November with more stuff which is what inspired me to check it out.

They said they've never ported a game to a PC before and it's been a real challenge and that you'd need a REALLY high end PC to run it so if I go for it I'll go PS3.
