[MiniPhalla] Dungeon Crawl: The Skywind Manor
Introduction:
Everyone in town has heard of Skywind Manor. Lord Alvar, the head of the house, was one of the richest citizens in the town. Alvar was known as a collector of many things, paintings, sculptures, tapestries, and even weapons and armor if they were finely crafted. Artists, merchants and collectors would travel great distances to do business with him, either selling or buying some of Alvar’s rare items.
However, two weeks ago the Manor fell abruptly silent. Nobody has heard from Lord Alvar since. It won’t be long until bands of looters start raiding the house for its expensive wares. You figure you may as well be among them, and you are prepared for the danger involved. If Alvar met a horrible end, you do not want to share his fate.
Special thanks to Rend, who helped review this game. Also thanks to Gizzy, who will be helping me with transactions.
General Rules:
This is a
Phalla game. If you are new, you are more than welcome to join but it might be a good idea to look over the linked topic for the basics.
The village faction is the
adventurer’s expedition party.
The mafia faction are the
possessed.
I’m using the mini to test a few things, so I'm not going to promise balance. The stuff that works will probably be put into a main. Hopefully the stuff that doesn’t work can be modified into something salvageable but who knows. After the game, any and all feedback will be appreciated.
Signing Up:
Sign up by posting in
bold limegreen. You will need to pick out a character name as well, so send me a PM with the name as you sign up. Names will be used in narration, so don’t make it a name that can be easily traced back to you.
Voting:
Elimination votes every day will be cast in
bold red.
Vote close will be at 10:30 EST. Votes cast\Orders Submitted at 10:29 will be accepted, orders\votes cast at 10:30 will not.
Edited vote posts will be ignored, which may result in an inactivity warning if left uncorrected.
Inactivity:
To be considered active, each player must make
at least two posts, make a vote, and submit orders. You will be removed from the game on the second day that you are inactive.
Other Rules
-Include host in all PM’s and Proboards. No anonymous contact
-No sharing, screenshotting etc. of Host PMs
-If you are eliminated, you can make one ghost post, as long as it has no game information.
-No talking with the dead.
-You may not add players to preexisting PM conversations. Start a new conversation instead.
Sample Villager PM:You are a an adventurer! You have answered the call and are willing to risk your life to find the riches in the manor!
Starting Gold: 100
Wincon: Remove all threats to the adventuring party
Rules Specific to this Phalla:Class Selection:
At the beginning of the game, alignment PMs will be sent out to village/mafia. Then the game will undergo a Day 0, where everybody gets to pick their adventurer class. By the end of Day 0, players must PM me with the class they wish to be and their character name. There are loose class limits, so when you submit your choice, include second and third choices as well. On the beginning of Day 0, you will be given a description of all the classes.
You may discuss class selection publicly, so work together to get a balanced party!
Classes:
Alchemist - You are reasonably skilled in battle, but that isn’t why the party is so happy to have you. Any successful party needs potions and you are able to make them. Keep the party well stocked and you might make it out alive and rich.
Barbarian - There is no need for tactics. You are able to hit things, hard. Your command of brutal, if sometimes reckless, force allows you to crush all your enemies.
Blacksmith - What good is a fighter if his weapon his dull? You are able to keep weapons in top shape, increasing their effectiveness, and are able to improve armor as well.
Cleric - You have one job: To keep people alive. Your blessings can restore the health of your allies.
Knight - You are capable with your weapon, but your skill with a shield is where you really shine. You can bravely protect your allies, at your own expense.
Ranger - Nobody is a better scout than you. You have survived the wilds for some time, and as a result no longer fear wild beasts. The party looks to you to guide them through encounters with monsters.
Rogue - Treasure is awesome, almost as awesome as money. You find more coin than anyone else, and you have no reservations about searching the dead for their useful items.
Wizard - Your weak physical frame means that you can’t take as many hits as your allies, and when you swing with your staff it doesn’t hurt enemies a whole lot, but if you have access to mana you are able to blast your foes with highly damaging fireballs.
Abilities and Actions
Abilities are passive bonuses that are always active. Actions must be activated at night. Free actions are those taken that do not count for player’s action for that night.
Players can use one Action a night. They can use as many free actions that are available, but may only use one item per night (not including any potions used as part of actions).
How defense works:
After all of the damage has been totaled for a player, the damage received is reduced by the defense rating, to a minimum of 25% of the original damage, rounded up. For instance, if a player receives a total of 6 damage from 3 different sources, and their defense is 2, they will take 4 damage that night. In another example, if a player receives 2 total damage and has a defense of 2, they still receive 1 point of damage.
Potions:
The adventurers have a certain supply of potions in a public stockpile. They begin the game with
1 Mana Potions and 3 Healing Potions.Healing Potion
Item
Heals another player for 3 HP. Cannot target self.
Mana Potion
Item
Consumed to activate certain powers
Any adventurer wishing to use a potion submits the request along with their nightly orders. If more people request potions than exist, RNG decides who uses the potion.
The action of using a healing potion will be publicly announced in the thread (without alignment, obv). The user will be announced, but not the target. Example:
Zombie Hero has used a Healing Potion!
Items are a free action(do not require an action), but can only be used at night.
Players may only use one item per night. Potions consumed by use of powers do not count towards this limit. Equipping items is automatic and does not require any actions.
Health and Mana potions are kept in a public stockpile, all other potions are kept individually.
Upgrades:
Throughout the game, players may receive bonuses to their equipment. The largest of these bonuses is automatically applied. Players may give or trade away their excess items.
For simplicity Weapons and Armor will be referred to in the nonspecific sense. A weapon+1 can be used by any class, but (for example) a weapon+1 for a knight may represent a stronger sword/mace while a weapon+1 for a rogue would represent a better dagger etc.
Trading:
Players may trade any gold or items that they have. Gizzy has offered her assistance in helping keep track of transactions.
How to Trade:
1. Start a PM with you, your trade partner, myself, and
Gizzy
2. Each trading participant must write, in
bold medium orchid, with corresponding names filled in:
“I agree to give <Item\Gold> to <receiving player>, in exchange for <Item\Gold>”
If both PMs fit with each other (match except appropriate give/receive reversed), you will receive a message that the trade has completed by the host. Trades are considered instantaneous once they have host approval, and may happen at any point during the day,
except for between vote close and narration.Submitting Orders
It would be helpful to PM hosts orders in the following format:
Action:
Free Action:
Free Action:
.
.
Item Action: (if applicable)
Monster Encounters:
The Manor Skywind is overrun with monsters. The monsters will attack the players each night. Monsters have different preset methods of choosing their targets. Monsters can be attacked as if they are players. Once a monster is killed, they will drop a certain amount of gold per player and some items for the leader to distribute. Item distribution is instantaneous once approved by Host.
ClarificationsOrder of Operations:
Vote -> Actions - > Monster Attack -> Health Checks
Vote Ties: Tied Votes will result in both ‘winners’ being removed from the game.

Second, the correct term is "apprentice sauceror," not to be confused for saucier.
Third, no booze for you.
Forth, shut up.

Welcome back, El Skid!
No, no, hominem is the stuff grits are made from! It's why everyone loves grits. They're so personal.
I have been known to convert martinis into nudity. That alchemical enough for you, Robert Boyle?
For my first trick, though, I will turn this 100-year old bottle of scotch from Cyril's secret hiding place in the filing cabinet into urine and shouting.
Theres a Monster at the End of this Book is the greatest kids book ever
Also, a reminder note here for me to read the rules before the game starts.
Day 0 will begin when the roster is full and will last until either an hour after everyone has made their selection or a prespecified vote close time. Bandwagon asked me to start this game a little earlier than my original plan.
