Old Announcements
Yay tournaments!
Will be updating this thread with more information if it is available before PAX, but ultimately the most up to date information will be available at the PC Tournaments table during PAX. The table is in the PC Area on Level 0 and is where you can sign up and queue to play in tournaments.
Please do not use this thread for non-official PC tournaments banter. There will be plenty of other things going on in both the PC room and the rest of the convention, information for those will pop up online and on site.

Awesome tournaments.
Pax Eat Stuff: 3 Day Badges[]; BYOC Badge[]; A Roof to stay under[X]; A ride of some sort[].
Maybe a stupid question, but does the PC room require your own computer? Or are there just some available for use?
The PC room is split into two separate areas. One is BYOC, where you Bring Your Own Computer, the other is PC Freeplay, where the PCs are provided. All the tournaments in this thread are via the Freeplay computers.

No such thing as a stupid question!
So the PC Area is going to have hundreds of computers, already setup, with kickass video cards and fast processors! So, there will be no need for you to bring your own computer.
Having said that, also in the PC room, is a place called "Bring Your Own Computer" (aka BYOC). This is an exclusive area that requires the purchase of an additional badge that allows attendees to show up with their own rig, plop it down on a table and enjoy a massive LAN Party.

Sounds awesome! I think I skipped over what BYOC was when I was buying my PAX badge and didn't see anything about it until it was too late. Fortunately, though, I don't think I trust airport luggage handling to be gentle, so maybe it's for the best. Will have to look into it next more next year though for sure!
I might have to try my hand at the Minecraft tourney, depending on what it entails. I'm assuming there will be League of Legends tourneys posted in time as RIOT has yet to post details on their trip to PAX.

Any events that RioT might do at PAX East 2013, will be happening in their booth in the Expo Hall, not in the PC Room. Just stating that so that there's no confusion.
Minecraft tournament:
Feed the beast game mode
Everyone for himself in a time trial competition.
Participants will be working against the clock to complete the objectives of a new never before seen map.
For the CS tournament do you need to already have a team, or can one sign up as a free agent?
I would need to check with @kmess or @codemaster to be sure, but I believe that you need to have a full team. However, I'm fairly confident that there will be teams looking for players and players looking for teams in the PC room, so wouldn't hurt to ask around. :-)

Minecraft will be a Feed the Beast time trial competitive tournament. (Everyone on there own more compared to 1v1)
CSGO will be 5v5, you need to be part of a team to sign up. Sign ups happen on the same day of the tournament. If you do not have a team, no worries, just show up to the tourney desk and say you're a free agent. We have many other free agents every year.
TF2, we have ran in the past many times. Lately is has gotten stale for the attendees. We are looking to host it again in next PAX prime / east.
DOTA2 - Keep in mind, we have VERY limited bandwidth. We haven't ran a DOTA2 tournament and needed to find out more details / pilot the tournament before making it an official tourney. We do not want to cancel a tournament due to bandwidth constraints.
Highly interested in playing in the CS: GO tournament on Saturday. None of my team members are attending PAX. I'm aware that many people go as free agents, but it would be nice to have a team already put together, and get a few practice hours in. If anyone is interested in forming a team/ needs a player, please let me know.
A map is up so that people may practice. In order to play it, download the latest FTB launcher at http://feed-the-beast.com/ and enter in the PRIVATE PACK code paxbeta.
At the tournament, it will be time trials, may the best time win!
TF2 stale for the attendees? Last time there was a TF2 tournament it filled up in minutes and people had to beg to have the registration expanded. Last year there were a lot of people dissapointed that TF2 wasn't played. Doesn't sound stale to me.
