As someone who is pretty much a newcomer to Monster Hunter, how important is this whole table-fixing thing? It sounds pretty important. And assuming it is, what recommendations do people have for a good table for someone new to the series?
It's important to not land on one of the 5 cursed tables, as not only will give you worse charms, but they also lock you out of some armors because you'll never get rust shards to make them.
Outside of that, it's more of taking a hour to better your later game powerging in which table you select/get. Non-essensial, but it helps.
Well, since it's not "tomorrow" anymore, it should say "out now", right.
I can never change it at work unfortunately, our PCs still use IE7 for some reason that is completely unknown to me and it breaks the edit button on OPs.

It's not really all that important, but it's good to know what you're getting into. Table 10 is widely considered the best one for most people.
Awesome, thanks for the heads-up. Excited to dive in when I get home from the office today.
1 is jack of all stats good for absolutly everything.
10 is great for a lot of things blademaster and even has some bow goodies.
4 is all about lances and guarding.
6 is the primary greatsword list.
7 is evade like a butterfly with any weapon.
9 is for the dedicated bowgunner.
14 is for the switchaxe main.
Anyone on the list who hasn't gotten a friend request from me (or hasn't already requested me as a friend) should have gotten one, unless you have friend requests blocked. At least, I think that's what it means when the add friend button is grayed out.
NNID and 3DS code in my sig if you haven't added me. I'll probably be light on the playing at the moment, but should pick up over the next few weeks. Let me know if you add me on the 3DS.
This is probably well known, but that won't stop me:
Here in the EU, there's going to be a special Wii-U + Monster hunter combo package, but the supply is extremely limited: One of the major Retailers Fnac (think Best buy'ish) is only getting a total of 3. So if you don't have a Wii-U yet, and you like collecting poop in a Fancy European way, Get a reservation for the system!
It's also a fairly terrible value bundle and the system is just plain black. I really see no advantage in it over getting a Premium or ZombieU pack and the game separately. Even if for some reason you really must have the controller that is just a WiiU pad minus the screen, you can buy it separately and still come out up on the deal.
Monster Hunter get'd. Hit up Target first thing and was able to nab it Metal Gear Rising and Gears of War Judgement as part of their sale. Winning so hard. Now I just need to speed up time to get this work day over with.
Can anyone with the 3DS version comment on the camera controls? I can't see me having a easy time with the touchpad - I would have preferred shoulder buttons - maybe its configurable?
Given how important the R Trigger is for pretty much everything, i don't think you could really swap it to anywhere else and not have it be even more awkward

Well you can always try the demo. It works ok IMO. I used the L lock-on targeting more often. I don't believe it's configurable with the default shoulder buttons since they're actually bound to rather important actions (weapon abilities, item picking, etc.). If you have the CCP though, you can bind them to either left/right or up/down camera. I think up/down was how it was used in the CCP for Tri? At least when I looked for the mapping recently it was mapped to swimming up and down.
Still wondering about the tables. Is there a range of time where I won't get the Cursed Tables? Because I still want it to be random, but I don't want to be screwed.
And I'm wondering if it's feasible to prepare Blademaster and Gunner equipment on one file. Because I love Switch Axes and Hunting Horns, but I've also fallen for Bows.
I don't believe that's possible. What you can do instead is roll a D12.
1-10 maps directly from the D12. 11 maps to 13. 12 maps to 14. Then manipulate your charm table to your D12 result.
I wish the eShop worked on eastern time. I'll have to wait for my download when I get home and it won't be done until tomorrow. Oh well. One day won't kill me. <twitch>
i'm so torn, i want the game, it looks fun, but if capcom takes this long to add this amount of stuff to it in what is essentially an expansion pack, and still can't be bothered to fix bugs like their charm table shit, which should have taken 1 guy like, an afternoon, i'm not sure i want to give them my money...
Seeing this thread jump so much just makes me remember that I'm stuck at work for the next 8 hours and my games are sitting on my porch waiting for me.

It's nothing like an expansion pack. There's a post a few threads back that explains it but it's really a ton of content.
The naming system of Monster Hunter has always been like this and when it get's a G tag (This is Tri G in Japan) then it's serious business and they're going to throw content at it.
Seidkona on
Mostly just huntin' monsters.

I keep getting error code 007-2916 downloading it on the eshop. At least it seems to resume. Good thing I didn't try to download this at home or I'd have come home to find it had barely downloaded anything.
I found out that one of the face options for Male hunters is giving me the opportunity to make my hunter a grizzled old man with enormous bushy eyebrows and a beard.
Should I go for it? Because I'm totally thinking of going for it. Provided I can make his hair white, too.
edit: Wait! Face type 9 is younger man (but still an older man than most of the faces), but his beard is huge, and he's got scars on the side of his face!
Which one do I choooooooose?!
edit edit: Oh my lord. The bald version of Face 9 with a beard looks like such a badass.
Or I could be an old man with a sweet goatee and a graying pompadour!
Argh! I know all this is gonna be hidden by helmets before long, but I really still want him to look cool.
Game is currently downloading as we speak. 1 hour 25 min to go, which I guess is decent for a 6 gig download.
I forget, do you create a separate character for online, or do you take your existing singleplayer character? And what bonuses/items carry over between the two modes?
In any case, add pols.voice to the NA list in the OP, if you please.
Edit: Whoops, need to do it myself. But feel free to send a friend invite anyway.

It's the same game.
It's obviously a coding bug that was never fixed. Tri loaded a new table on each load and didn't have incomplete tables like this has.

Gentlemen, chug your potions - it's on now.
I got a little excited when I saw your ship.
The worker guy at Best Buy had to get them out of the back and then asked me if it was the 19th. :P
Now to decide what weapons to play, and wait for work to end.
