So. Okay, regardless of anything else, or debates about favorite ending, or ANY business relating to the series and how we'd like it to go, I think we all can agree on exactly one thing.
Buzz Aldrin needs to never do VO work again ever in any game ever ever ever.
next time i'll load a save to play citadel after destroy ending.
every mention of cerberus and reapers is a mistake made by the characters in a post-war galaxy.
Mark Meer and Jen Hale both nail that scene on the docks at the end, it's to perfect not to count as the true ending.
So I'm helping @Zaylenz extract on Collectors Platinum, and @Elendil is there. The former is a Fury; the latter is a Kroguard; I am vanilla Tursol; my brother is a Ghost
We're extracting and an Abomination has gotten into the landing zone on white, it's behind the fighter, right in the center of us. We all turn to it as it lifts into the air and begins to glow. There are five seconds left on the clock. If that thing blows and any of us go down, we will not have time to pick up.
My brother begins spamming his stim packs. He's not going down no matter what.
"Nobody touch that guy!" I say, ready to let it grab me and stomp on its head. "Nobody-"
And Elendil turns to it, his Reegar humming.
"You hear that?" El says, and I see the Incendiary Ammo symbol over the barrel of his gun. "That's the big dog," he says, and he lets loose a stream of electric fire.
"And the big dog is hongry," as a wave of nuclear energy strips mine and Zay's flesh from our bones
technically it was the incendiary DOT that killed it
Well, Star Kid was Harbinger, it was just appearing as the dead kid because Shepard was deeply personally affected by dead kid*
*What I mean by this is that the hack writer badly wanted the player to be affected by dead kid, even though no one was and even though there are people who will defend the ending, no one defends those fucking dream sequences

Man, how did this even happen, somehow I went from hearing that there's a free bonus pack from one of the free DLC (Mine had the juggernaut), suddenly I'm hooked on multiplayer again. I've gotten more guns, bigger numbers on the few I already had, then switched over to reserves packs for a bit because jugg was getting stale, and discovered the joy that is a geth trooper specced for maximum flamer damage. Best way to say hello is to run up to a pile of guys and unleash the fury. I still suck at sniping, luckily I got the turian ghost so I can use ARs instead. Talon merc has a nifty gimmick, but it feels weak as all hell when you aren't spending your grenade pool on specialty shots. I've put my ranks into increased damage, plus I've got a melee booster on my shotgun, and it can't even oneshot basic troops.
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

Playing through 3 again with a Fem Shep for the first time, and seeing the potential implications of everything going on really makes me want to see Mass Effect 4 take place somewhat recently after 3. Lots of the deals and decisions going on are temporary at best and could lead to a whole bunch of smaller scale conflicts once everyone is over the defeat of the Reapers.
So far at least the whole Turian/Krogan conflict over the bomb could spill over badly. It doesn't help that the Primarch's own son almost blundered the entire mission. Sure, he made up for it with his sacrifice, but like Garrus says, it was just an "expected" action of him. The Victus name is pretty much tarnished. Also, the Quarians are now possibly the most militarized race in the galaxy thanks to their arming of all of the Flotilla ships.
I can imagine the main character in 4 having to deal with the fallout of the actions in 3.

It's not tarnished, I think. As Victus says,
his name will go down in the annals of his regiment's history.

I can imagine Victus trying to be optimistic while mourning over his son's death. I think Garrus was speaking the cold truth.

Someone throw me in Javik's stasis pod and thaw me out when you're all done talking about the ending again
kthx
You hush your mouth. If the rest of us can put up with constant mulit talk that we don't care about, then you can toughen up and deal with occasional ending discussions.

That's my take on it to. The extended cut is better then the original endings but it's just more of the same, still suffers from much the same problems.
There weren't really any worthwhile romances in ME2 aside from Garrus/Tali if you're into the dextro alien thing.
To this day I still have never unlocked the ME2 paramour cheevo.
Jack says fuck you.
Well, she normally says that, but I think this time there's a bit of extra mustard on it.
Out of all the LI scenes added in Citadel, hers is my favorite. Not the meet-up at the arena, but when she stops by the apartment with a gift.
By stopping by the apartment with a gift, did you mean making out in front of an exploding Atlas? Because I'm pretty sure that's my favorite part of any of the romances.
So I got my plats done over the weekend in pugs. 3 of them were on too, but weren't box of shame. Quite a bit of white too.
One time on white me and another were both geth soldiers. Those new stairs at the back that lead down to the old GWG spot? 2 flamers lighting that shit up with an adept chucking throws in there was hilarious!

I still really think that Star Kid shouldn't have even been a thing, and the dream sequences should've had Virmire Dead Person taunting and berating you for your failures based on your background/actions/choices.

I felt stronger emotional connection with the series and character after the Citadel DLC than at any other point in the series, by a long way. It made me realise that every character I spoke to during that DLC had a unique personality, a unique history that made them what they are. They felt like real people. I felt like Garrus was a character who could step out of the game and go for a drink with you, I felt like Tali had this amazing growth story - when she references her pilgrimage earlier in the game in the Presidium, I felt a big impact from that. There wasn't a single one dimensional significant character, they all had flaws, interesting stories, and personalities. And Bioware captured those personalities well, and kept them consistent through the whole series, culminating in this huge party where everybody gets along.
Wrex, Javik, and Zaeed hanging out in the bar area shooting bottles seemed like just the kind of thing that those three would get up to while drunk and everyone else was dancing. Vega and Jacob getting together with all the pretty ladies to show off their muscles, well that seemed completely true to form.
Party spoiler
When Vega was flexing and bragging all I was doing was shaking my head in real life and going "that is so James". When a game can make you do that, you know it's got you invested.
If this party had been the end of the game, and if the starchild hadn't existed, I feel like ME3 would have been hailed as THE perfect game to the end of a perfect trilogy. Sure, there would have been the detractors (those who are defending the current ending), but the overwhelming majority of people would have given in to the emotions as I did, and been swept away to this amazing world.
Not since Middle Earth have I felt that a fictional world has been so thoroughly brought to life, and not since Harry Potter have I been so sad to see a series come to an end.
Yes there are fighter squadrons attacking the Quarian liveships but...
Legion's real reason for having Shepard go into the server is to have Shepard see the historical data.
Right?
Well he wanted to go in to stop the fighters and, probably more importantly, preserve the geth programs in the server.
The fact that Shepard just happened to see the geth side of the morning war... yeah, probably not a coincidence. Legion was also trying to convince the geth programs to side with Shepard too, though.

Comedy gold.
I was talking about the temple but really, all of it.
That is one mission where you *have* to bring Javik at least once.
It is okay Liara. You are still my friend.
He's awesome as a companion, mostly because he's such a giant dick.
But yeah, if there's only one mission you take him on, take him on the Thessia mission.
edit:
Javik: Or it's the living Prothean standing right next to you.

Still not how MY series ends, though an acceptable end for A series. So I'm gonna go play an action movie in space.
