Nintendo hasn't had a good first year since....maybe the SNES. They'll have one or two solid games, but most of the releases will be mediocre to shit. Then they blow their load during year 2 and they continue trickling stuff from then on. It's not ideal, but Nintendo tends to play it safe to maintain a steady profit.

They have an advantage this time around in that they are making their online system very welcoming to indies and non-AAA developers. If they handle this well, they'll have a steady stream of exclusives throughout the system's life.

I can't say I'm happy with my Wii U purchase (expected the digital games to come out faster), but I have faith they'll right the ship over the year.

And maybe somebody else would aggressively buy up the right properties and forge the right partnerships to propel Nintendo forward. They succeed by having games that make people say "dammit, now I have to buy a Nintendo system for that." They need more of those!

I think they focus too much on Japan, securing Dragon Quest and Monster Hunter but nothing for the west. They need to realize Japan is not interested in consoles anymore, but the west still is, if you give them the right games.

Nintendo needs to money-hat Bethesda and get a Fall Out exclusive. The WiiU pad as the pipboy just makes sense.

Or be lazy and money-hat a FO Collection for WiiU only. The PC versions will port over easily, and it will look better than the other consoles. Top it off by allowing console commands.

Yay ZombiU death loops. You would think they'd respawn you before the 'spawn giant wave coming to kill you' trigger so you can get your stuff back first instead of fighting giant wave + your previous self as a super zombie now with only a cricket bat and 6 shots and zero time to prepare.

And why do so many gamers CARE or pretend to care about what console is doing best or not doing the best?
Remember when games was just about enjoying shit? I do. It still is if you're not a moronic child.

If you ever find the answer to this, please let me know, it is beyond me.

I care about the health and support of the product because its continued presence, support, and direction on the market determines it value and use to me. I am sure there are people who are happy with with the PSPGo, Virtual Boy, that gaming phone I can't remember that opens weird but propiertary hardware for gaming comes with something of an investment issue.

And if I find that stuff I want keeps not coming for the console I feel cheated. With Wii not as much an issue. Its cheaper and very different. Not so much with WiiU and the games and issue that took me here was the success of Nintendo's console and its lack of support with other comparable consoles. Its got bad ports or no ports of games of other competitive devices and that is something to be concerned about for a $350 price tag or purchase of the product or accessing its value. IF the value isn't in the apparent technical specifications, something I wasn't as hung up on but has lead to disappointment and reflected in PERFORMANCE of the device at its job to devices of similar type (always relevant for a consumer good, we do compare apples and oranges they are both produce items priced differently and so have to determined what we wish of and from each). So I hope its in the more unmeasurable experiences offered by the design, services, and setup of the console. Or the community of gamers about it, that is another larger forwarded plus of it that I'm joing the Miiverse/nintendo online community and service.

Not even PC compares because the primary function of a PC I can buy off the shelf and turn gamable is as mini home office and internet connection device, likely for the whole family. There were even recent sales of them that were cheaper than the WiiU (minus a monitor and other things inheritable from previous computer ownership)

Besides I didn't come in here screaming about terraflops I mentioned games, community reception, negative prognosis by popular analysts and asked information to understand the full story. The defensive and deriding part of the responses did not reflect on this group well. I did appreciate what was educational, placed things in perspective, and actual answers to my questions and thoughts and concerns.

It tells you if the console you spent money on will stop having games on it

    Or this in short.

If you are comparing the WiiU to the PSPGo, VirtualBoy and the N-Gage (I assume that's the one you meant) then you really aren't looking at this objectively.

Also you keep saying things like the stuff I bolded, but I'm really not sure where you are getting that viewpoint from. You seem to think it is inferior in it's technical capabilities and performance? Compared to what? The PS4? The current Gen stuff?

Cool points if both of you get drunk, decide to do it in a tribal artistic style, then get creative...then post the results in this forum with a pic :D

ZombiU never has an actual "Game Over" no matter how badly you fucked yourself, you can always get your stuff back, the flares and molotovs are out there like candy, I carry 3 of each with me always and I'm constantly leaving them behind. The weapons will reappear all over the world, though not in their original locations. Just bait the zombies into attacking you one at a time, slam a door or two into their faces to spread them out a little.

Best thing in the game is kiting. If there's a giant horde, run away as fast as you can, then wait a little while and they should eventually deaggro, then pull one at a time, with some clever flashlight flickering. never give up!

See, here's the thing. Ports of old games coming to WiiU is ok. Throw in some neat tablet functionality or whatever, that's fine. Its still early-ish in the console's life, there's bound to be new 3rd party releases. However, these older games should not be sixty goddamn bucks... Even NFS, which I bought, kinda pisses me off. Blah!

Anyway, any WiiU bros pick up NFS today? I'd be down for some MP races, though I don't have a headset. NNID is Dr.Skullnumbers.

My concern is this seems to be happening in Japan. It makes sense, its where the brains of the outfit are.

The second part is something I am very concerned about. If the WiiU gets more and more a reputation of something that can't serve indie/digital game needs or is always third place for porting it makes me wonder what's going to come for it. The games that concerned me were decades old arcade ports. I understand there is likely a pipeline in place and a relationship to make it smoother to port to PS3 and 360. But I am concerned if the digital nonAAA games will avoid the WiiU. What is the online development of the product like? The community? How does it compare to others and what are its particular strengths or changes coming?

Its had questions of its performance, particularly publically with the current gen ports having performance issues. ACIII, DSII, B:AA, Madden, etc.

Ah yes the N-Gage, thanks, I couldn't remember the name or find it with a quick google for gaming phone.

I don't think the WiiU is like that perse. but the idea only insecure fanboys can have concerns about the support, direction, and performance of consoles is undermined by there are consoles held in low consideration to the point their loss and flaws are relatively unquestioned and they're problems and lack of support turning into a further issue.

Again you are making some very odd claims.

Firstly I don't think anyone ever suggested that only "insecure fanboys" can have concerns about the console.

Secondly, as far as I have known Nintendo has always had pretty solid support for their consoles, so I'm not sure where this concern is coming from.

You do seem to be very "concerned" in general about the WiiU though, although from my perspective it's not really warranted given Nintendo's history.

Well, there's been rumblings about a HR 'sequel' that will be announced sometime soon-ish (E3?) called Human Defiance. Re-releasing an 'ultimate' version like this, while seeming like a 'wtf 2yr old port' thing, could just be a teaser, as it were, for the sequel. That's honestly the main reason I can see them doing this for.
