For every dollar you spend on the eShop, Nintendo will eventually give you a gift card back for 10% of it. I say eventually because I believe they don't pay out until you hit $5.
Toys R Us has $50 nintendo eshop cards on sale for $45. I price matched it at best buy and for some reason they sold it to me for $42.50. Even at $45 that is still 10% off.
How does the eshop handle digital versions of full retail games? Can I redownload it in 2 years, or is it a one-time package?

Follow-up question: does WiiU force you to format the entire drive, or can I partition it with my PC and use part of it for storage?

I'm a little disappointed in NFS. The console locks are super annoying alone, but im having a hard time just enjoying the game.
It is an insanely beautiful game. I mean... wow. Visuals are just bananas. The cars control like shit, though... Hopefully I can get the hang of it. Had the same problem with ZombiU. The analog sticks just feel off.

You know, I'm probably insanely lucky, or my Wii U is just one of the good ones, but I've only had one console freeze or hard lock the entire time I've had this thing. One time, I go to the options screen and the screen goes black. One restart later, it's fine again. Never when I'm playing games or doing something really important.

Has to be either externally powered or powered from both USB ports simultaneously using a Y-USB splitter.
I originally used my old 60gig ps3 drive with a y cable and drive enclosure and it worked great. Later, I bought a 3tb external western digital from Costco and haven't had any issues.
So it sounds a bit hit or miss as to which drives can pull adequate power through the single USB? Does it seem like newer (and presumably more power-efficient) drives are having fewer problems?
EDIT: Have the folks running full retail downloads had any latency issues with streaming the entire game over the WiiU's USB 2.0 connection? I'm curious how that compares to the read speed from the optical drive.
Sorry for the barrage of simplistic questions. It's been a couple generations since I've owned a living room console.
Hm, I'm still interested in picking up NFS, but perhaps I'll be patient. Of course, I see that Origin sale and jump... but then again I've never ordered anything directly from EA before, and I dislike the ridiculous shipping charges if you want it before next weekend.

The game does run very well. Load times are pretty short, and I havent had any framerate issues.
Console freezes/hard locks appear to be an issue, however...
And now you know why it bombed on every other platform.
It has around an 80% average for all consoles on Gamerankings and Metacritic.
