With just over a week away, we thought we'd wet some whistles and give everyone a look inside the PC Room and show everyone some of the games that we'll be hosting on the machines!
For those of you who don't know what PC Freeplay is, we're setting up hundreds of high speed gaming computers (Thanks to our friends over at Intel) in the Intel PC Room! These machines are available to all attendees to come in and spend a few moments playing some of the hottest games out right now. There's usually a line throughout the convention, but if you show up in the mornings there's less of a line!

Come check us out in the PC Room Level 0 Expo B2 West!
Sounds great! What are the hours? Are they the same as the EXPO floor?
PC Room Hours as the same as PAX (not Expo, Expo closes at 6PM, where as PC Room stays open all of the time). So we're open all of PAX which is 10AM-2AM. (Thanks @zerzhul )
Wow... no LoL? I'm surprised...Question though (I've never been to pax) can we use our own keyboards and mice?
Sorry, we don't allow attendees to attach any of their own equipment to the Freeplay machines. This includes keyboards, mice, thumb drives, and smart phones.
Riot is doing their own thing (though I don't know what that is) in their booth which based on the map looks insanely large. I'm betting their booth is going to be pretty awesome.

Thanks. Looks like I'll probably just do some upgrades to the laptop and play on that if needed.
You actually also cannot hook your own computer into the freeplay LAN. If you purchased a BYOC pass, you can hook into the BYOC LAN.
Really? Huh, the FAQ made it sound like if you brought a laptop you could be accommodated in someway and BYOC was just for a nonportable system.
Can I bring my own computer for the LAN?
By all means! Just make sure you register for BYOC, which will be an option from the main registration form. (If you are just bringing a laptop and you don’t need a place for it to live over the weekend, don’t bother with BYOC).
I believe that's intended to ward off people who just want a place to sit and internet during BYOC. It should probably be worded a little better. I am 100% certain that you cannot hook your laptop into the freeplay LAN.

Let me clear this up, and if @zerzhul or @SmallLady can clear up the FAQ, that'd be great.
You can not bring any personal items, computers (laptops or desktops), accessories, or otherwise into the PC room with the intention of hooking up to the Freeplay machines or PC LAN Network. Attendees wishing to partake in the Bring Your Own Computer offering need to purchase the additional BYOC Badge in order to bring your own personal items and have a place to sit.
If you have a laptop, but do not have a BYOC badge, there is nothing preventing you from using your laptop in the PC area, however, you won't have a place to sit, and you won't be allowed in BYOC or able to connect to the LAN network.

@KitInaka - Where do you see this listed and on which FAQ? I don't see it in either my BYOC FAQ nor the Forum FAQ.
Under the General Rules FAQ on the PAX East Site. Under "Can I bring my own PC?" The wording makes it sound like you need a BYOC pass only if you are bringing a computer that is a desktop.
Sorry if this is causing a problem. Just wanted to make sure I knew all the rules.
Yeah, it's in the http://east.paxsite.com faq which none of us control in any way. Sadly this faq is usually not kept explicitly up to date, hence why we have our forum faq (and why we have been working on a wiki).

@Kitlnaka -- no worries, we'll get it clarified. the rule is definitely "no laptops will be plugged into the PC Freeplay network".
MW3 and not Black Ops 2, hm? Weird choice.
It will be nice playing a LAN game of TF2, and I'd love to try playing Hawken at more than the 15-20 FPS my home machine gives me, so I'm hoping to get down to Freeplay. Thanks for running it dudes!
We wanted to do Black Ops 2, but we couldn't source a local LAN server to run the game. We've been trying to be very mindful of the games that we put on to the freeplay machines with respect to bandwidth usage so that the experience is great! That's why we'll have many of the games listed with on-site local LAN servers running!
