Just made 800K in fourty minutes. Now own all but two of the primaries and only have the 12G to pick up in secondaries because fuck the Stryk pistol or Para SMG.

Can I be your Padawan?
Sure I guess.
It was just two OK runs on Watchdogs. Which isn't actually that tough. If you really want to try hard it just make sure you have either two ammo or two medbags as a perk and are running a shotgun.
Also, new pet peeve: People who try to throw bags across the street without having the transporter perk. Screws stuff up in some situations.
Weapon wise my shotgun now has a taclight, a fancy stock and a silencer. The silencer actually doesn't chop off any noticable damage with my non-aced silencer damage perk so it's kinda hilarious. The Krinkov SMG is like the 207 AK but with even less ammo and even more recoil, I wouldn't bother with it.

Silencer drops damage? That explains a lot...
Also had the pleasure of running with some proper pubby villains this weekend. All of us got along surprisingly well and dispatched swat teams like a trained SEAL team. It was pretty nice. Although as I'd like to consistently do that, do we have a Payday 2 PA group yet? If not, could some of you fine lads add me on steam?
Excuse the accent, I play as Hoxton almost exclusively and he tends to....rub off a bit.
I think that even though the silencer drops damage, its still pretty much worth it, if you expect to stealth a mission.

Its strange, but I'm liking the shotgun more and more. Like literally, my primary is a shotgun. And my secondary, also a shotgun. So I feel like stealth is out of the question for me.

Payday has always had the best shotguns.
CorriganX on Steam and just about everywhere else.

Fun fact, for no apparent reason other than Overkill REALLY liking shotguns the Shotgun silencers not only have virtually nil impact on concealability and only take like 10% damage compared to the fifty-90% damage most other weapons lose.
This is because Overkill REALLY REALLY likes shotguns.
It is also dumb.
Also I have a shotgun silencer, nya nya nya nya nyaaa.

Nothing is more satisfying than getting not one, not two, but three headshots with a single satisfying blast of a shotgun....while laying on the ground...and immediately getting lit up like a christmas tree by the three head corpses' buddies.
BETA UPDATE #3
Here is the third beta update! It's quite small in comparison to the second one. But we're still friends... right?
Changelog
Owners of the CCE version of the game will have pre-order items from now on, gifted players will not get these items anymore
Characters should no longer walk in the middle of the air close to objects
While the player is in casing mode, civilians, guards and police will look at the player(s)
Technical fixes on levels, fixed several graph issues, characters should generally move better now
Updated localized text based on community feedback
Updated several text strings
Fixed issues related to animations depending on the FOV
Fixed other FOV related issues
Fixed a disappearing monitor in the safe house
Fixed spots where the player could get stuck
Added orange text on DLC items - distinguishing them from others, just like an infamous item would
Fixed an issue where bags could be thrown out of the world
Fixed a bug where the game would crash if the player would view a corpse through a camera
Fixed a bug so that team AI now properly follows the player in missions
Fixed a bug where a converted enemy would stop to follow the player who converted it
Fixed a bug in the safe house where the player could throw the bag into a place where he couldn't reach it again
Fixed an issue where police officers would be "popping" on top of cars
Added minor tweaks to level details
Bulleted list
Reduced the drop chance of a "money" card during a PAYDAY
Q: Does this mean that my progress in the beta will reset yet again?
A: No, it will not reset unless something strange happens or you somehow have altered your save file.
Q: I pre-ordered the standard edition and was gifted a beta key - why can't I see my skull mask and mods anymore?
A: We are testing the system that will give the different players what they have bought when release hits. Your standard edition does not count in the beta because the beta is a different product - it's not PAYDAY 2, it's PAYDAY 2 Beta. It's a test product to make sure that our game works as it should when it hits release. Don't worry - you will have your pre-ordered items when release hits.
Q: Does this mean that my save will carry over to release?
A: No, we will still reset everyone's profiles at release to provide a clean slate for all players.
Q: Can I save this mask I made though? Like, just sneak it through
A: Nope, sorry.
Holy christ a perfect run of Rats (i.e. all possible bags in all levels) gives you SO MUCH MONEY. We got 400k spendable on Hard or Very Hard, I forget, and it wasn't that hard with good teamwork.
That must be Hard mode. I recall pulling almost 400k a few days ago without all possible bags. We had to cut it at 3 bags of Meth because we were running low on ammo and bulldozers started making their appearance and we didn't stick around to loot the gangsters. The meth lab siege is probably the hardest part of Rats because you had to sit and defend a spot with numerous ingress directions and bulldozers can avoid a lot of long ranged fire to get into your face. I wonder if it's worth pulling back even more into the little window room to funnel everything into one doorway.
With 3 people running Reinbecks and Broncos I've never had a problem there. One guy covers the stairs, one guy covers the windows, and the third gets the balcony. Anybody that isn't busy helps the others out, and everyone kills bulldozers. Even on overkill that seems to work out pretty well, and if you have a fourth they can make meth and help out whoever needs it. Mostly works because shotguns are gods and the Bronco is the best rifle.

regarding the release date, talked to Almir, he said:
Sorry, can't be any clearer as of now. Hold on!
Best,
A.
when I asked if he could clear up the 27th date on Steam and the 13th date from twitter. So, it looks like they don't want to say for sure yet because they aren't sure themselves.
also, I wish I would have remembered to screencap our payout from a perfect Rats run because it's way better than the pocket change payouts you guys posted.
Has there been any word of increasing the level cap before the beta ends? There is so much good stuff just out of reach on the skill trees. I'd love to get a chance to play around some more before the wipe, and I have to do it 'for real.'

It does seem kind of silly that the "beta test" wont let us test out some of the most important-seeming skills in the game.
Like what if the level cap isn't raised at all before release and then "oh shit, wow, Shaped Charges are totally and utterly overpowered, how could we have known!"
I'm curious, is this as entertaining as it looks? Is there a real PA community?
Scroll up through the thread. Look at how many of us have our steam sigs advertising the beta as our most played game in the past 2 weeks.
The beta that has a level cap of 30 (out of 100 in the real game) and a fraction of the available levels. Knowing full well that all our progress will be wiped as soon as the full game comes out.
Game is good.

There was a steam sig here. It's gone now.

word. there's a solid group of people who are crazy about this game. I've had the beta a week and this is how much i've played, knowing it will be wiped. every time I get on steam there's at least a couple people either playing or willing to play.
I'm curious, is this as entertaining as it looks? Is there a real PA community?
It's pretty great. Payday is the best coop I've ever experienced, better than Left 4 Dead which was also pretty damn amazing. I would say try the first one if you are not sure, but I just checked and Payday 1 is still $20. I would have thought it would be much cheaper by now.
Watch the thread and jump on a beta key giveaway, as I'm pretty sure people will still be buying into the beta through August. I'd be surprised if the game actually releases by the end of the month.
I'm curious, is this as entertaining as it looks? Is there a real PA community?
It's fantastic. Better than Payday 1 in every single way, and I think we have a good amount of people playing though it would be helpful if we had a group and steam profile links listed in the OP.
Has there been any word of increasing the level cap before the beta ends? There is so much good stuff just out of reach on the skill trees. I'd love to get a chance to play around some more before the wipe, and I have to do it 'for real.'

Basically their reasoning behind this is that the beta we're a part of is intended much more as a high level systems beta. They wanted to test how people reacted to things like the drop system and general gameplay and they have another, presumably professional, beta team that's testing stuff like shaped charges.
Honestly the only heist's I've seen that'll be made super fast by later stuff are Nightclub/Four Stores, which considering they're already super easy (I still love you Nightclub ) isn't that big a deal.

I'm really more interested in stuff like reviving at a distance. Or the prototype armor - I really hope it's not just one step above the combined tactical armor, because if so, it's a total waste of skill points...
To be honest at only four skill points (compared to the 12 most near anything else 'cool' in any other tree is) even if it is literally just a step up (I don't think it is from the one time I've seen a hacker use it, I think it's probably at least another 2 shots) it's kinda hard to argue it a waste of skill points.
Unless you like actually moving, which is why I'm avoiding that skill like the plague.
To put in perspective how good a deal four skill points for super armour seems to be: Lock picking safes: 12 points, shaped charges: 12 points PLUS any points you spend boosting trip mines, ECM hacking: 12 points, a half decent fucking turret: FOURTY POINTS (seriously F the turret man, unless that things god mode when upgraded just F it).
I think the skill points system is pretty good and does result in hard choices, but fuck me if there aren't some things where I look at how many points it costs and just kinda go 'what'.

Correct! It hasn't seen much use since Payday 1's hype died down but if the lads want to revive it for Paydaying purposes I'd be more than willing to pump some fresh blood into it. Elsewise we can just use Adventure Team.

Ehhhh...every skill tree has it's line which sucks. Intimidating for the mastermind, most things stealth related in ghost (reeeeally usefull for Rats and Watchdogs...), Technician has to decide between turret or mines, enforcer....i guess Enforcer is mostly fine.
Even though, most "do X a little bit faster" perks are garbage. Tried out faster lockpicking...saves maybe one second. More efficient drills amounts to, what, 15 seconds? Maybe 30? What a waste.
Faster drill repairs is absolutely worth the points. I agree on more effecient for the most part it's not worth it. Faster bag handling is also another one that's a big deal.
Worth noting most any skill that's stealth focused also has a normal/aced aspect that helps in combat or with utility. I'm running essentially a stealth perk ghost and it's still fine.
EDIT: Though if they were less fucking vague with the skill descriptions it'd be much easier to tell what's actually worth while.
I agree, faster bagging or throwing bags further are really useful; Notice how both of them have a magnitude of 100% or greater - your throwing distance easily doubles, if not triples, and you pick up bags at least twice as fast.
If lockpicking or drilling would be 2 or 3 times as fast, now that'd be worth it!
