I'm bringing my Surface Pro with Guild Wars 2 on it, anyone interested in meeting up and doing some PvE together where we might have adequate space?

I'm totally in! My laptop goes where I go, so hopefully we can find a good time to do something like this.

Quite a few Guild Wars 2 enthusiasts will be hanging around PAX, including a few members from Twitguild. A few Enforcers are in my guild on Northern Shiverpeaks as well. I don't know how many people will be bringing their laptops around to the BCEC, though - I'm lucky to have places to stash my stuff and I'm staying at the Seaport nearby. I know a few people are interested in going to the MMO panel on Friday night, as Jonathan Sharp from ArenaNet will be on that panel.

I haven't played in a while (been too busy for video games) and while I have played with some friends, they don't really don't play GW2 all that frequently either.

I'll PM people my GV number if they indicate an interest in this thread.

Bah, sorry, just merged your thread into PC freeplay and then I realized that freeplay won't have GW2 on it.

Either way, not sure how you think you're going to get enough internets outside of the LAN to be able to play an MMO during PAX.

Edit: split it back out into its own thread, but still don't know how you would logistically make this work.

There was enough wifi in certain spots of the BCEC to be able to do quite a bit, and GW2 runs even on crappy bus wifi, although it's not super amazing.

With that said, my laptop comes with me every East and gets stashed away so regardless of a meetup I'll be trying to play some sort of PC game during my downtime. :P

I would absolutely love to meetup somewhere to play, but I won't be bringing any equipment with me so that totally negates any ability to do so :(
I assume there is not any way to get it on the Free Play PCs? What about the PCs that are "Intel Sponsored"?

  • zerzhulzerzhul Registered User, Moderator mod
The intel sponsored PCs are the freeplay PCs, and no as of now GW2 is not on those and will not be on those.

Oh, okay that makes sense. Any other ideas or leads we can try to follow up on other then individuals with gaming laptops?

We just need a place with tables and power outlets.

What are the rules in PC Freeplay about downloading or bringing the client on CD and installing it? My feeling is this is not possible but was looking for a more official word. If you just need space, power, and bandwidth try doing a meetup in the Westin lobby then ask if they have an empty conference room available. Usually they do and their bandwidth is pretty substantial. Odds are they will find you something if you just pay for a meal or drinks at the bar.

You cannot install anything on freeplay machines, and you are not permitted to insert any media into them.

Well, so far, it's just me and JuJu who's interested. I'm going to scout around this coming Wednesday to see if you actually need to pay to use the conference rooms at the Westin (which is likely).

Officially, @zerzhul is correct.. he's always correct. He's never wrong, even when he is, and in this case, he's not wrong, he's right. Ooooh sooooo right.

    I'm up for it!

    When?

  • XX55XXXX55XX Registered User regular
Not sure yet. Maybe on Friday? I don't have much on my schedule for that day.

ooh I have a laptop that runs GW2 quite nicely, JuJu that would be so cool to play with you in person! but my hotel is really far away and i dont really want to lug around a huge expensive laptop all day :/ hmmm

Eh, Juju hasn't responded to my tweet, don't know if this is getting off the ground or not. Oh well, I'll walk around and ask if people play GW2 at the convention center.

Guys, just got in touch with Juju. She's free at 3PM tomorrow, so will I. Text me at 559-797-1089 if you want to know where we might be meeting and to stay in the loop.

I play GW2! I did BYOC and actually got a little time in on GW2 today. :) You may catch me if you walk by the barrier on the side of the BYOC area playing it. I probably will be getting on it again sometime on Saturday.

Well, because PAX is PAX, we might not be meeting at all. Juju enforces all day today, and response has been lukewarm at best. Perhaps tomorrow?

Who knows. I didn't end up getting down to the BYOC area for any real length of time until after the main exhibit hall closed today. I might play a bit on Sunday but I have a feeling that Friday was my main game playing day at BYOC.
