Telepath Tactics

Telepath
Tactics
is Fire Emblem-style turn-based tactical RPG in
development for Windows, Mac and Linux.

Featuring mod support, custom single player campaigns, a robust map
editor, 2-to-6 player multiplayer, and a ruleset that adopts best
practices from such classic series as Fire Emblem and Disgaea,
Telepath Tactics is a turn-based tactics fan’s dream come true!

Setting

Telepath Tactics takes place in an unusual fantasy-steampunk universe.
Magic doesn’t exist: instead, there is psionics and steam-powered
technology reliant on a volatile, crystalline substance called vibra.
Horsemen don’t ride horses: they ride giant, armored praying mantises.
There are no elves, no dwarves, no goblins, no dragons: it’s just
humans and a few other, entirely original sentient races (such as the
shadowlings, creatures that quite literally feed on human suffering).

Story

Emma and Sabrina were nearly too young to remember when their family
was forced into slavery in the vibra mines of Kovit. When their father
took ill, the sisters were forced to make his quota or face
starvation. After a shadowling slaver took pity on them, they escaped,
fleeing into the wilderness. They were found and taken in by a tribe
of lissit, reptilian warriors, who raised the sisters as their own.

Now Emma and Sabrina train tirelessly, bent on revenge and the
prospect of rescuing their ailing father from bondage. They will need
all of their wits–and the help of some unlikely allies–if they are to
succeed…

Gameplay

Telepath Tactics features a single player campaign and 2-to-6 player
multiplayer. The engine supports backstab damage, bridge and
barricade-building, the ability to freeze water to create bridges of
ice, the ability to move (or simply destroy) objects in the
environment, the ability to freeze, blind, cripple, and set characters
on fire, and the ability to push, pull and throw other characters off
of cliffs and into water or lava.

Moddability

Telepath Tactics is designed for easy modding. You can easily mod the
game's tilesets, destructible objects and character art by editing
external .png files. Meanwhile, all of the game's essential data
defining character classes, tile properties, attacks, destructible
objects, maps, items, etc. is contained in easy-to-edit .xml files.

Telepath Tactics features explicit support for custom multiplayer maps
and custom single player campaigns, and comes with full-featured map
and dialog editors to make creating them fast and simple.

Platforms

Telepath Tactics will be released on PC, Mac and Linux. (There is a
strong possibility that it will later be ported to mobile devices.)

mechanics-wise? I've been writing up the game's manual bit-by-bit as I
develop the game; it currently contains an introduction, a thorough
explanation of how the game is controlled, and an uber-detailed
examination of the complete Telepath Tactics ruleset. Right now I'm
working on the section that explains modding. If you're curious, you
can find the manual online

I feel like I've heard of this before on these forums probably, where was that?

Either way, it looks like there's a new Kickstarter up for the game with a $10k smaller goal. It is mostly funded already, so I imagine with almost the entirety of the time to go, it'll easily get funded this time.
