Only an incredibly cheap one from like 10 years ago that doesn't HAVE a stopwatch.

Gamespot tweeted earlier that Saints Row IV may have been banned in Australia. I am really curious how it managed this, given SR III got through without the R18 rating without major issues.

Edit: Yep, apparently "Sexual violence" and certain kinds of drug use were enough to get it refused classification here. Guess Australia will continue being the joke of the free world then.

That's some lousy timing. The game can always be resubmitted though, but the changes required are unanimously inconsistent and terrible (see what happened with L4D2 compared to Dead Island coasting through with MA15+ no dramas)

I don't know. Half of me wants them to make the changes necessary to play it here, but the other half wants me to see them stick the finger to the ratings board's bullshit and let people get riled at them.

So, honest question: what's the point of clamoring (and succeeding) to get R18 rating when shit is going to get banned regardless?

The excuse from our ratings board for games being banned was typically that they had to refuse classification as they couldn't rate a game with such content under the MA15+ rating, which meant children could still buy it.

Turns out they were just a bag of dicks, even with their R18+ rating.

I am really looking forward to this, it's the first time I've pre-ordered a game in a long time.

Can Australian people be gifted the proper version of the game over steam?

Sweet, I'm sure the PA'ers from down under can rally the forums to help them get uncencored SR4.

I really can't imagine anything worse than cencored SR4, what's the point?

It'll be interesting to see exactly how they censor it. And how fast a mod comes out that removes the censoring.

It took effect January 1, and a few games are rated R18+ now.

They would also read comic books!

I saw SR3 for sale as a magazine pack-in at a newstand today. Actually, this is a magazine that just has the cover disk game and a few pages of vague hints. Pretty funny to see it available at the whole city.

    EDIT:

Here's the magazine's web page, obviously in Portuguese. You get the game on a DVD, plus the steamkey! and it goes for about US$7,00. No chance of getting more expensive than that.

Good luck. I remember looking for uncensored patches for TF2/L4D(2) a year or two back and only found incredibly arduous methods that required equally tedious updating every time said game was patched.

Hell, even so I tried different, current uncensored patches for TF2 but none of them worked. So, again, good luck what with the game using steam.

A censored version was eventually released in Australia, so that gave Steam the go-ahead to release a "low-violence" edition (you can unofficially patch the "violence" back in). Pretty sure they couldn't have sold it in Australia at all if it stayed RC'd.

Apparently an alien anal probe weapon and narcotics that give you superpowers are enough to get a game banned.

It's a pretty fucking stupid one at that.

Looks like it was - surprise! - drug use that was the gotcha there as well. They're talking with MS to change the name of the drugs used, which should work, as that's exactly what Fallout 3 did and it worked to get past them.
