A group of us like to invade ABAM lobbies that probably contain premades trying to stomp pubs and then throw special comps like Kayle, Poppy, Morgana, Lulu, Talon at them. That specific comp has never lost yet.
Having a CC imune Poppy go diplomatic on someone once things get hair, only to receive a Kayle ult after it ends is hilarious.
Meanwhile, Talon is helping deliver a Lulu ult into a Morgana ult while everyone is worried about the untouchable Poppy.
edit: Forgot to mention the Lulu giving Poppy extra speed and AP, the Kayle giving Poppy extra speed.
Why Kayle? Maybe I just see bad ones, but I very rarely see ones that do well. Its always people trying to copy LCS builds, but failing because they have 40CS at 10 min and are bullied out of lane.
Invulnerable Hecarim/Vi/Jarvan when they decide to ult onto someone to squish their face?

I play against constantly bad Kayle's then . Same with Cho'gaths.
Pony is awesome with Kayle. He jumps in and is all FOCUS ME and then when he is low he gets a Kayle ult, then regains a ton of health through W, Kayle damage, and Kayle heal.

Half of what makes a Kayle good is properly using her Ult. If she can play the rest of the kit well but can't save lives or prevent burst then that Kayle gets a failing grade.
Hey, so I hit summoner level 20 last night and I'm starting to make the transition from "plays nothing but bot games, with a normal game if I have 2-3 friends on" to playing one bot game to warm up and then playing normals.
Right now I'd say there are only 3 champs I'm really comfortable and confident with, Thresh, Vayne, and Gragas (in order of best to worst). What should my goal be before I start playing any Ranked games? Two champs in each role?
So many troll teams last night. Sejuani support, yeah that didn't work. Followed by EZ support. Also didn't work. Then the next game I had a teemo top who wouldn't protect red so when I hit the bushes at wraiths I face checked into 3 members of the opposing team. Anyone have any advice in this situation other than just wait in mid lane until I see the other team in their lanes? Hard to come back from giving up double buffs and first blood. One of those nights. I did end with a couple wins as Diana mid so it wasn't a total loss.

It depends on what you're looking to do. 2 in each role in fine. However ranked is a horrible place to rush to if you're new to the game. It is not the chosen land and its rough to end your placement and be in bronze.
You're better off getting comfortable with a few champions that you enjoy, working on understanding strategy, counter building, buff timing, warding over walls, lane phase and general mechanical skill, in normals and blinds. Once you get those down which can take many many games, then you can enjoy ranked. You will also not have many runes or rune pages that you can use to counter lane opponents (not that these are the key to victory, but having runes pages and mastery pages dedicated to facing different styles of champions is important.)
That is just my opinion though, ranked is not the chosen land and your placement matches might be rough.
Gotcha, thanks. And it's not like I'm trying to RUSH there, just most of the people I personally know who play this do almost nothing but ranked and talk about normals the way most people talk about AI games.
What are the most commonly banned champs in low-tier ranked, btw, so I don't practice my ass off with someone I'll never be able to use?

You will never get those champions outside of being captain of the blue team and forcing them to choose between those and someone else.
Note there are some people like @joe k who will not ban those champions and ban others that they feel are much easier to stomp with at lower ELO. He can give you a list.
I had a game yesterday where I was Janna supporting Varus against Graves and Nidalee.
Foolishly I give up first blood. Pretty much unprovoked, a mistake of me being too aggressive.
I die again sacrificing myself to protect Varus, who had over extended pretty hugely, which succeeds as he did not die that fight. I then die once more because Varus ran away from an advantageous fight which we would have won (not even probably, straight up just would have won) had he not bugged out in the middle of it.
Varus dies at some point in the next minute or so to a pretty savage tower dive.
The other lanes are not winning or losing by a large margin. They are pretty close.
About a minute later they take our bottom turret. Team morale is low. Varus says "Janna just take CS. I'm terrible at this, and maybe if you have cash you can help the team. I'm useless."
So I respond to him with "No no no you're doing okay, we've both made mistakes. Just keep farming and we can still do this."
All of a sudden team chat became some hilarious bastion of supportiveness and positive thinking. Varus stayed in just enough teamfights to make a difference, while farming as much as he could. Our mid, jungle AND top all come down bot in the next couple minutes one or two at a time to help in lane, then get back to their own. We are cautious in teamfights and judicious in catching the enemy out when we can. We secure objectives quickly and decisively when we have the opportunity, and did not extend ourselves past where we could go when we could not.
And most of all the whole time chat was like
"good job guys, that was a great fight"
"Nice dragon"
"Careful, all mia"
"Not enough wards on the map, I'll pick up some of the slack"
We crushed that game in mid-late. And I nearly cried. It was beautiful.
This is why raging at your teammates in chat is literally throwing away from Elo. Morale and teamwork are such important factors in deciding games.
Bad Kayles use the ult only when someone is about to die. Good Kayles use their ult to nullify bursts of incoming damage so that they don't even come close to dying.
Not to discount the death-bait capabilities of Kayle ult. Yeah Khazix.. go in for that reset.. I know you want it... here it comes.. here comes that reseNOPE!

I have not played with or against a decent kayle, I think ever. Same with Cho'gaths. I guess I am just lucky.

Remember that there is a psychological factor to saving the ult for when somebody is low on health. It changes the decision-making process of the enemy team from "Oh, I guess I'll shit on somebody else then" to "OH MAN SAVING MY SHIT TO BLOW UP THAT POPPY ONCE THE BUBBLE WEARS OFF".

Oh cool, never played any of those 3 even once.
The main bans for the world (according to lolking) are:
I like to run Heal on AP Janna Support but my team always whines at me for not taking Exhaust in the lobby so I usually wait till the last second to switch. On this occasion I misclicked and selected Revive as the game launched.

I'm honestly not even sure I can imagine how this happened. So you finish blue, run up, do red, while you're doing red the top mid and jungle all run down to the bushes by wraiths in between your two middle towers or the bush that hugs the back of the Red buff den? You'd hope that mid would have their top bush warded and/or top would have the river warded so you'd be able to see one/both making the break for your jungle, but that's about it. Without top defending red to at least notify you of ward placement you'd have to be pretty paranoid to assume they were murder bushing you.
I guess the only thing you yourself could do is start with a ward at the expense of potions and ward the entrance to your top yourself
I didn't know Asian John Cusack played LOL....(TheOddOne)
I'm almost certain TheOddOne isn't asian.
My permaban list is Thresh, Kayle, and Elise.

Can Skarner successfully top lane?
So the 13/14/3 masteries. I don't like it on ADC but I really like it on junglers and bruiser top. It has worked really well with Udyr, Vi, Irelia, and Shyvana.

I never fear death or dyin', I only fear never trying.
Sure but he works a little better mid-lane as AP. Every single one of his skills has an AP ratio, including the heal AND damage from E. I had a game (in platinum) where an AP skarn just ran shit over our Orianna. I don't know how, considering Orianna has a great kit to deal with it. But we lost that game pretty hard.

Win mid win game.
That is interesting. I think I may give it a try.
I was thinking of doing top and grabbing Shureliyas, Ghost Blade, BotRK, and anything else that would seem useful. Maybe some tanky stuff.

17/13 is nice for trading if you're countered in lane or dealing with an all-inner/constant harass. 21/x/x is still great for lane bullies like Draven or Cait. 13/14/3.. what the hell is the 14th point for in defensive? MR?
I can see why a setup that's good for trading would excel in top-lane would work well on tanky bruisers like Irelia/Shyv/Udyr but I think on Vi where her top is more of an assassin role I would still go for the 21 in offensive.

I guess the 14th in defense would be Block. I copied the build from someone else who suggested it. I'll give 17/13 a try.

I played my first normal game with Singed today. I think the players at my level haven't seen Singed yet, and hadn't yet learned not to run after me through the green shit. All my kills were literally from running away from people. I sometimes managed to fling them into the green shit too, which helped. I'm hoping with a better team and more experience, I can really find what Singed can do. He's fun.

Well you can go top but Skarn has huge mana problems and without AP your sustain is also going to suck. That's why it's nice to be mid, you get blues after 6 if your jungler is a nice guy.
