All I know is, considering how hard their servers get hit everytime they release a $60 game, when the free-to-play Hearthstone drops you should be able to see the explosion at Irvine all the way from Vegas.
I love how commonplace streaming is. Before I would have been with you guys, waiting with baited breath for a beta invite. But now I can just watch someone with a beta invite play, get a good idea of how the game works, and decide that I'll check it out when it comes out. Because they are going to wipe everything you unlock when the game comes out I actually see playing the beta as only harming my long term interest in the game.
One thing they're really good at is building hype for a game. Oh well, the keys will come!
The very deliberate initial distribution of keys to famous streamers (even LoL guys who aren't even known for being connected with Blizzard or doing promotional work) definitely shows how devious this hype train is.

This isnt a new thing. It would be stupid of Blizzard not to use the streaming industry, which is growing pretty huge, to get some free publicity out of the matter.
Did some house cleaning tonight. Logged in to check my gmail and saw a new promotional email!.... Awww nuts another real promotional garbage email
Ya that invite wave was small they said it was going to be big. I've heard so few people say "I got in" and it wasn't the facebook invite. Oh well whatever. I do hope the game comes out soon it looks like so much fun.

Well big is relative and it might well have been big in terms of their invite wave goals.
But yeah, still no invite here either. Oh well, It'll eventually just be out and I can not worry about it.

I have a hard time watching streams and gameplay videos because, even at the extreme n00b level that I am with card games, I still find it John Maddening when people make obvious and stupid mistakes.
I've had to stop watching streams. It hurts too much to watch people make some of the plays they do.
Not that I would be super awesome at the game but I've played card games for a long time and some of the choices these people make baffle the hell out of me.

Yeah, thats why watching streams is entirely unsatisfying aside from initially seeing the game, a lot of the more famous streamers (LoL people in particular) are actually pretty terrible at the game in terms of decision making. It pains me to watch them play. On the other hand, some of the M:TG guys who are streaming are really good and I enjoy hearing them talk about their thoughts on the game vis a via tempo, card advantage, board control etc. Still though, I would like to be the one making the choices.
The good news is, I am irritated enough from the whole thing to just forget it. Rome II comes out next week and after that, I probably won't give Hearthstone a second thought until its released. In the meantime, I just downloaded Solforge to give it a shot.
Edit: And I will be unliking Hearthstone on facebook right meow.

The Day[9] Hearthstone videos are wonderful. I love that he barely played it before his first stream, you get to see his entire play style evolve.
Yeah I can't really watch anyone but Kripp, who I had never heard of, play. He legitimately understands the game and can make cool shit happen even with bad decks.
Watching someone who has never played a CCG fumble through a match is awful. I really don't understand the motivation to stream, or watch a stream of a competitive game if you aren't at least fairly good at it.

Most of them stream other games (WoW/SC/LoL) and their viewers will watch them stream because it's them.
While I can sympathize with the notions that streamers shouldn't have keys to give away, and it's a bit silly to have the beta be tied to keys and not be account flags like previous betas, I have to shake my head a little at some of the reactions people are having to this last wave. I don't think you understand what sort of competition there is for these keys.
Take the Facebook giveaway. 500 keys, for 169, 686 people - and you could enter without liking them on Facebook, there were alternative signup methods, so the Likes aren't even an indication of entrants. It may not seem like it with the number of people who post in the thread but you are not some hot insider just getting the scoop on the game. There was less than a .01% chance of you getting in with this Facebook wave, maybe less than a .001% chance. Demand for this game is far higher than supply.
If you are agonizing over the game, desperately hungry for keys, checking your spam folder every day, stop. You're killing yourself. Look at the numbers and recognize how statistically unlikely it is that you will get in and free yourself. Stop stressing, and more importantly stop expecting one, or at worst (This is far less common on the PA forums but is still an insidious thought that can creep in) feeling that you are entitled to one because you posted on the Hearthstone Reddit or watched a bunch of streamers. It's very, very silly, and make you look like a silly person.
Don't prostitute yourself for maybe a tiny itty bitty chance at playing a game that's coming out this year anyway if it's going to hurt when you don't get it.
Thanks to Blizzard, I now have intimate knowledge of my spam folder.

I also hope that they release the game with more heroes to choose from. The heroes themselves don't have to function differently but I need have been conditioned to spend all my money on skins/hats/fluff/celestial mounts/horse armor. Blizzard PSL

I really want to play Hearthstone.
What's Blizzard's definition of a "larger wave" anyway?
they don't it be like it is but it do
I saw a lot of speculation that it was between 500-1k invites.
This can't really be a stress test, more of a Hype-test.

Here is a post from Reddit talking about why Blizzards hype train tactics are infuriating, http://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/1l8v70/where_the_beta_went_off_the_rails_or_how_not_to/
