At Konami's press conference, Mogren will walk out and take off his bandages to reveal that he has actually been Hayter the whole time. But then Hayter will pull off his Hayter face to reveal that he has actually been Kojima for his entire career. And Kojima will take off his face to reveal that he was actually Tak Fujii. Then he'll turn off his pain inhibitors and rip out an audience member's spine in an infectiously cheerful manner.

I think that if MGS4 was ever going to come to the 360, this would have been the time, with the Legacy Collection. If it ever gets ported, it'll probably be to the XBox720 (or whatever they're calling it) in the Super Complete MGS Quintilogy Edition.

I finished MGS4 yesterday. Loved it.
So i started playing the only MG games I haven't finished;
The tutorial missions are, but not the Integral ones.
And even physical copies don't work on the PS3 (nor did they on the PS2).
Why doesn't it work on PS2?
because of the dumb way vr missions asks for you put in one of the original mgs discs because vr missions is pretending to be an addon that requires the base game and this method is botched because the ps2 doesn't recognize the disc.

Back in the day when the 360 seemed like the clear victor of the console war (at least among the over 13 and below 60 crowd) I really thought it might happen, that Konami would be foolish to ignore a 360 version with the PS3 kinda flailing about trying to get traction.
Nowadays I think the PS3 actually emerged on top in terms of features, online service, and exclusives. I have subbed to Live since day 1 and I just recently let my sub lapse. I will not drop PS+ any time in the foreseeable future. Free games, son.
But again, tangent. I don't think we'll be seeing MGS4 on any other platform until the next gen.
You don't get to be the world's greatest soldier by not punching through brick walls.

E3, Kiefer Sutherland is officially announced as the voice and motion actor of Big Boss. Midway through explaining this, David Hayter emerges from the shadows, and puts Kiefer in a chokehold, knocking him cold. He picks up the mic and delivers one line.

"Kept you waiting, huh?"
He would fulton him first. I bet he has good stats.
edit: Now I'm just thinking about Hayter walking around the floor at E3 and ballooning everyone he sees.
Started replaying PW recently. The Fulton is one of my favorite game mechanics of all time. I hope it comes back in a future game. Even if there's no recruiting/base-building mechanic. Make it a special item like Stealth and Bandana.

the MSX ones on Subsistence.
Can I endure?
Ah, I thought you meant MGS2's VR mode. Really, the first two games are fine. Just remember to punch all the walls, you'll thank me later.
Elaborate? I just got the rocket launcher and second key card, but boy is getting caught a death sentence.

These VR modes are so difficult I have a feeling that Kojima told them to make it as hard as they could. Most of the MG VR missions are pretty hard.
Unfortunately for us all he said this to Platinum Games and they were all "No worries Kojima-san we'll just turn off the safeties."
I got first in the first VR mission.
I felt like I'd just beaten Bloody Palace.

It order to pad out the game, there are a number of hidden walls, especially in the underground prison in Metal Gear 1 that you discover by punching. Even I forget where they are sometimes, and you need C4.
Also, rescue all the POWs you can. You can't beat the game without being rank 4. And if you ever kill a POW, restart.
I'd say just play the game with a Gamefaqs window open. It's a rather clunky game, filled with "how the hell am I supposed to know that?" moments, like the punching walls above. It's not totally horrible, but by the end I was just playing to say that I did it.

I love your sig quote manwithwaytoolonganame.
I bought the rising guide book yesterday. It is astonishingly spectacular. The detail! So much detail! I knew about 60% of the information, but it was great seeing it all confirmed and there are a lot of things I had no idea about. It's as thorough as the Bayonetta guide and that's no idle comparison.
Didja know heavy armor cyborgs can't fight back when caught in a smoke grenade?
Didja know heavy armor cyborgs can't do parry wars once one of their body parts have turned blue? A parry counter = instant kill at that point.
Didja know body parts turn blue at set health levels and in the same sequence, acting as a health bar?
Didja know Gekko's and Raptor's can't dodge parry counters once a body part has turned blue?
It even tells you the parry counter point for every enemy attack.
It's Laguna's theme from FFVIII, and the quote's from "the Shoveler" which I thought was fitting considering my Shovel Knight avy.
Oh yeah, Revengeance still has a lot of secrets to offer. I was blown away by that Japanese player fighting Sam, that was movie quality stuff right there.

So I just picked this up last night
I'm dreadfully average at it
I do fine in most parts...
I'm in the sewers and all the big enemies do a pretty good job of thrashing me around. I think I need to work on parrying more often and not getting so caught up in trying to get hits in. I dunno.
The rest is pretty fun though...
Mistral was a great boss fight that I did reasonably well in. And holy shit, making me fight RAY so early on was a real surprise. And K-9000 is awesome.

Ah, good to know!
So I think Morninglord kind of mentioned this in that post about the guide but what exactly does it mean when one limb of, say, a Gekko turns blue? Is it sliceable? Or just a health marker?

Blue means you can cut it. The order in which parts turn blue is set and happens at life percentages.
In the book here it says Raptors legs turn blue at 50% total health remaining and their whole body turns blue at 25% health remaining.
Other parts you have to hit specifically, which is something unique to raptors and a couple of other enemies (those fire breathing sliders have separate healthpoints for each leg, so focus on a single leg at a time then slice it to take them out quickly). So if you get a Raptors head or machine gun/missile launcher to turn blue before everything else its because you've been doing damage to that specific part. The Legs and Body will only turn blue when the Raptors overall health hits the percentages noted.
Incidentally an EM grenade doesn't just stun a raptor, it also automatically dizzies it once the stun wears off and it keels over slowly, giving you even more time to smack them up.
A few other system things from the guide I thought I should mention.
If you get a zandatsu symbol (the slight pause and white japanese symbol with a bass "boom" sound) then it will refill some of your fuel guage if you hit blade mode during it. All you have to do is hit the blade mode button, so if you don't actually want to do blade mode tapping it will refill more than you'll use for the split second. So make sure to use that to refill if you are out no matter what, even if you want to use the time to do damage with something else instead.
Also there are two speeds of blade mode.
The default normal blade mode when you just hit the button while standing there has the enemies move at 50% speed. However when you see that symbol or you do certain special moves/combos, hitting blade mode at the right points will get you a super slow mo blade mode where the enemies are moving at 10% speed. So instead of 50% faster than them, you are 90% faster than them.
Examples of super speed slow mo are:
Hitting blade mode during the stinger.
Hitting blade mode after kick, kick, sword, kick (the enders, basically)
Hitting blade mode during the sliding tackle
Hitting blade mode when you see the white zandatsu symbol.
Hitting blade mode after thunder strike (back forward sword)
Hitting blade mode just after connecting with the diving kick on a human opponent.
Basically, if you see a split second moment of slowdown during any attack that is accompanied by a slightly deeper impact sound, hitting blade mode at that point will put you at 90% faster speed.
This makes it a very safe moment to go into blade mode to cut people up without being hit out of it.
I would recommend anyone serious about mastering this game get the piggy back guide, it's absolutely worth it. I would never have figured some of this out. It even lists damage, fuel consumptions, absorptions etc modifiers for weapons and custom bodies, for example.
It also tells you all the secret ranked battles that you might not realise you need to fight in, since some of them you can sneak past.
Oh another thing. In any battle with human opponents, you can cut off their legs (or both arms) and move away from them far enough to make them disappear. They will then count as a nonlethal takedown. Why bother? Cos the bonus for a nonlethal takedown of every human opponent is a whopping 1500 points. More than no damage! You can only get it when there is a human opponent though.

Does that mean using the Wooden Sword is an easy way to get the big points?
Oh brilliant

Not really, because against non human opponents the wooden sword is unable to cut them, which makes things significantly harder, and most difficult fights in the game with humans also have an unmanned gear (UG) in them.
However it would definitely make it easier against armored humans like the hammer guys or those guys with the swords, since you don't have to get them down to low health to cut off their limbs for the nonlethal bonus.
The guide usually shows up to three different ways to get S ranks on all difficulties, and sometimes it's easier to go for both no damage and nonlethal. Depends on the fight.
Another thing to know: executions require 100% fuel cell guage before the prompt will appear. Also you can turn off ripper mode half way, so you can use it strategically in bursts to knock a tough enemy into executable or cuttable status, then turn it off quick before it uses up all your energy and before you auto kill them.
Quite a few of the S rank strats will have this as one of the strategies: toss the appropriate grenade to stun everybody, then use a burst of ripper to soften up the worst threats, then turn it off and execute or zandatsu them for points, then turn to deal with the others once the crowd control grenade wears off.
There's so much detail man. I honestly was feeling overloaded just reading through it. I'm gonna have to go through each level pausing and referring to it before I will be able to memorise it there's just so much.
