Are you able to parry those hammer cyborgs? I had a fucking hard time with the first pair until I just went 'fuck it' and hacked them to bits without any real style. Got a nice fat C rank.

No, only block. Yellow aura attacks must be dodged.

The best way to deal with them is to throw an rp grenade at them. They can't defend themselves while caught in one.

Weapons you didn't have at that point also deal with them handily (sai and pincer blades).

Well that sure was a final boss

    That sure was a thing
Am I just really, really awful at this or are none of Armstrong's attacks parry-able? Just blockable? I'm leaning towards the latter but I fully accept my timing is just not there. Either way, I finally beat him after a few tries. So ridiculous.

Great game overall, I had a ton of fun with it. Story-wise, I think it fits within the Metal Gear mythos reasonably well, maybe not stylistically but thematically. And sheeeeeeeeeit, some of those boss themes are unreal (Mistral, I'm looking at you).

Looking forward to digging into the DLC, hard as it may be.

    New Bladewolf DLC screens!

    http://www.konami.jp/mgr/jp/information/130426-01.html

Looks like it's going to cover what Wolf was doing during his "scouting" duties, culminating in a fight with a new member of the Winds of Destruction, or another elite mercenary in what looks like a Landmate.

So I'm making pretty good progress in Metal Gear now. Got the rooftop stuff, but I'm stumped.

    -Helicopter
    -Only three keycards
-No way to the top of the courtyard where the dogs are.

Maybe I missed a card somewhere?

Alternatively, I'm streaming it for the moment if you care to help.

Have you been captured yet? You need the grenade launcher for the helicopter. Keep checking to make sure you've found all the POWs, they'll give you hints on what you need to do.

Phew. Metal Gear cleared. I had to get some FAQ help(and I don't regret it), but it's done. Game had some great music.

I always wanted to see Big Boss' motivation from the horse's mouth. A little sillier than I expected.

It's hinted from later games that Big Boss resented Snake. He didn't ask to have kids, let alone have them grow up to be the pawns of the very people he was fighting. He was firmly in his "villain" personality in Metal Gear 1 and 2, the ends justified the means for Outer Heaven.

He changes his mind, but it takes a lot of time and his own failures to realize he was wrong.

So we ordered Metal Gear Rising Revengeance through amazon and they appear to of sent us a European copy? instead of rated M its PEGI 18 or something. Now If I don't care about the whole dlc thing I can still use this game fine and not have to worry about dealing with sending it back for a US copy right?

Did you order through a 3rd party seller? I'm not sure if the policy for returns/exchanges is the same as ordering through Amazon itself.

Yes it was a third party with the whole Fullfilled by amazon thing. Its also been opened because we didn't even notice the box issue till we wanted to read the manual and on the back of the manual its got the european internet address and we thought that was weird so we looked at the box and were like "wheres the M rating?" oh geeze.

this is the seller as well, still selling copies (SJohnson236) http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Rising-Revengeance-Playstation-3/dp/B002I0J8FI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1367963932&sr=8-1&keywords=revengeance

-Got in touch with amazon support chat and got a return label to print out, never had to return anything from ordering so this all new stuff to me, next time Ill just make sure the order is coming from Amazon and not a 3rd party-

I don't think you should have any issue with a European copy.

Apart from DLC (which you'd have to buy from a European account) there's no problem with running it on any PS3 you want. The only region locked PS3 disc based game is Persona 4: Arena. Anything else is fair game, as long as you keep in mind that DLC can only be used with a game disc from the same region.

Late to the party, but I'm really enjoying Peace Walker. I wasn't expecting to, but the more bite-sized missions, the leveling up of gear and especially the Fulton recovery system make this great fun. I tried replaying MGS4 but got bored after ten minutes, but PW is keeping me surprisingly engaged. (I'm sure I'll return to MGS4 at some point, but boy, will I miss the Fulton balloon...)

i'll try again after i finish this part in mgs5. really fucking weird twist that was where it turns out half the game is set in the mind of the end before ...the end.

You're probably not still stuck, but it's a matter of waiting for the drones to approach each other and then shooting the barrel in the middle. That should set off a chain reaction that kills everyone.

    They shoulda left some of this MGR soundtrack un-remixed. A lot of tracks benefit from the remix, especially with regards to the vocals, but Sam's theme for instance? Way better before the remix;

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=-Q6OuHqv-ms

The guitar in the chorus at 43 seconds? Hnnngf, just sublime, so much more beautiful to listen to than the final version's generic tap solo thing. And listening to it now? Honestly think the vocals are better here too.

    Oh brilliant

  • Dark Raven XDark Raven X Laugh hard, run fast, be kindRegistered User regular
They're all composed for the game by Jamie Christopherson, just at some point the vocal tracks were all remixed by "Platinum" and Maniac Agenda

    The RAY battle is the most heavily changed; it had a totally different structure and lyrics;

Yeah, it's one that benefits from the remix imo, along with both of the final boss themes. I do kinda dig the original Locked and Loaded!! lyrics though.

The original Stranger I Remain is also wonderful and better than the remix.

It's a better song, but it lacks urgency. This doesn't feel as do or die. It's more like Sam's Journey than Sam's Boss Fight. I firmly believe that when it comes to music Platinum go for pure raw synching with the aesthetic and feel of a fight.
Since they make action games based around simple cliches, that means generic stuff works. Really well.

My favourite song is BladeWolf's. LEEEAAVVEE THEMM AAALLL BEEEEEHIIIIIINNNNDDDDDD
