New PTR push:
This patch appears to have removed all of the rep requirements from the Patch 5.0 and Patch 5.1 Mists of Pandaria armor. Keep in mind that nothing is final, and we won't know for sure until the PTR is online.
I'll give them a huzzah if they make them buyable with JP or even further drop their prices pretty substantially; there isn't much reason to buy any of the 5.0/5.1 stuff at this point except to get a quick ilvl boost to get into LFR. :rotate:
We've been following all of your feedback very closely, and we're going to try a different approach to Kil'Jaeden's Cunning in 5.4.
In a future PTR build, Kil'Jaeden's Cunning will once again be a passive effect. Selecting it will allow the Warlock to cast Malefic Grasp, Shadow Bolt, and Incinerate while moving. There is no penalty, so you'll be able to move at full speed.
We still feel that the 5.3 version of Kil'Jaeden's Cunning isn't working out, but we don't want to "nerf fun" either. It's clear that many Warlocks simply enjoy the feel of being able to cast on the move, and we'd like to be able to preserve as much of that feeling as possible.
With this change, we can make the "penalty" of taking KJC that you don't have Mannoroth's Fury or Archimonde's Vengeance, which should result in more damage output in cases where movement is less critical (and we're working on some changes to Archimonde's Vengeance that should help with that). We're also still planning on buffing Fel Flame in a way that helps lower the impact to mobility caused by choosing one of those talents over Kil'Jaeden's Cunning, without nerfing it for PvP purposes.
Remember, we're still extremely early in the PTR process. There will be many more changes to the game before the patch goes live.
That's encouraging. Drain Soul would be nice too but I guess beggars can't be choosers.
You know, with all the massive damage area effects they introduced in MoP (Devastating strike and their like) you'd think the graphics for avoiding them would be a bit more precise.
So I've returned to leveling my Monk alt. He's 74 now, wearing every possible heirloom, and I've been extremely disappointed with him when queuing as DPS. He's a fantastic tank with decent damage output, but in Windwalker spec he does terrible AoE DPS and barely competitive single target DPS. Does this get better, or should I plan for a tank/healer future? I was kind of hoping to level a melee DPS class as I don't have much experience of those, aside from a rogue back in TBC.
Heroic? We've been killing him for a month now and still managed to have two hours of wipes on him tonight. Just a lot of things that can go wrong, especially if you bring in new people.
we wiped like 30 times and I think maybe we made it to the first drain... twice? The only thing that makes me feel a bit better is that I think we won't have that much trouble with the jolts once we get there
hold your head high soldier, it ain't over yet
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat

Whoa, that's totally the opposite of max level. At 90, Windwalkers are AoE machines. You can beast on the meters pretty hard if you do it right. Their ST is pretty good too.
I say stick with it. Scaling at low levels is all kinds of funky and weird. It'll get better.

I'm playing WW more than BM on my Monk these days, enjoying it a lot.
The biggest argument I have with WW DPS is the ramp up time. Sustained is greatness though. But FFS, having a 'lust on pull be darn near completely wasted on me is painfully. Best I can do is Lifeblood, pre-pot, pop Xuen, and sigh as everyone's doing 250k while I slowly working my way up.
Still, like I said, sustained is great so I'm fine with the trade off.
Apparently that's only if you do the achievement, which involves keeping that person alive to the end.
I'm still bitter that Nazgrim is getting killed off. The only Orc character left who was A) introduced after Vanilla and had development that spanned multiple zones is Aggra, and I'm surprised Blizzard hasn't tried to stuff her in the fridge yet.
Of course, we don't have the full details for SoO yet so they still have time on that front.
So I went through that checklist of fresh 90 stuff to gear yourself up for LFR. I got no drops off Sha, Nalak, or Galleon. I managed to get honored with Kiron Tor Offensive and do the weekly barrens quest, so I have a 476 belt, 502 boots, and 489 legs. That put me at 450-something ilvl, so now I'm running heroics and converting JP to HP and buying PVP gear.
Because apparently it makes sense to Blizzard that the fastest way to gear up for PvE is to buy fucking PvP gear.
If you avoid LFD/Scenarios entirely I suppose, yeah; but if you even do them semi-casually you get a ton.
I think I'm in the minority. I want this stuff to be converted to gold purchases. I'd like to see more ways of getting gold out of the economy -- but this starting to become a tanget.
In frustrating news: one-shot Durumumumumumumu and two-shot Animus last night. Get to IQ: wipes the rest of the night. People were just getting tired by the end. We still managed probably 8-10 upgrades for the week, which bodes well for H-Jin'rokh on Tues. Oh, and I (finally?) got my meta.

I kind of wonder if we'll end up killing him. Maybe we'll get him down to the low %, and he surrenders or we knock him out.
I'm kind of bummed out that apparently the raid reward is a korkon wolf. I don't want no stinkin Alliance getting more Horde mounts, or something.

Don't worry, King Chin will be turned evil and dramatically killed by Anduin next expansion, then you'll get some gryphons or something for that.

Nah, that wouldn't happen. He'll just be corrupted by an old god and go all purpley and THEN you'll kill him. It will be totally unexpected and nobody will see it coming.

That's what I meant, evil in WoW means Old Gods. They might throw the Legion twist in there though.
Ugh, H Ji-kun is really hard I managed to figure out why I was dying to talon rakes, so that was nice, but still a huge bitch of an encounter. Not sure how you're supposed to deal with the talon rake cooldown when the other tank has to go do nests.
We got stonewalled by the double nest at 9 and 10, and I'm not sure if we have the deeps. Fuck heroics imo

Not according to the sound files.
And it sounds like the wolf is just a drop off Garrosh, the meta mount appears to be Zaela's proto-drake.

H Ji-kun is the second H boss we killed >.>
The trick to the simultaneous nests is the group doing nest #8 can actually go straight from from it to the nest up top during the double. It's kinda hard to do (and requires you to stand on the VERY edge of the nest before using the feather) and may completely fuck you up if you miss. Our group has just one person (me) do it, since if I don't make it I can usually pop my glider and still get there while the other dps and the healer just use two feathers.
As for the talon rakes, they just hit really fucking hard. Our tank is stupid good at doing them though, so we never have to worry about it. I'm not sure if it's just a death knight thing or what.

If anyone was going to off Aggra, I would've expected Garrosh to be the one to do it.
Getting paranoid about Thrall's influence in the Horde, Garrosh goes to put an end to the shaman for good. While Thrall is away from home on Shaman business, forces under the command of Garrosh burn Thrall's home to the ground. Garrosh himself goes to deal with Thrall, and it looks like he's going to kill him, but when he tells Thrall what he's done, Thrall gets his heroic death battle exemption and rallies, severely injuring Garrosh and forcing him to retreat.
Thrall returns to his home to find it a charred lump of burned wood and ash, save for his child (Thrall has one at this point, right?), who has ~miraculously~ survived. Aggra be dead, though.
Meanwhile his defeat at the hands of someone he clearly finds inferior, and now probably having some big honking scars across his body as constant reminders of that, tortures Garrosh's pride to the point where it eventually drives the already unhinged Garrosh over the edge, allowing the Sha into him.
That's how I would expect that kind of scenario to go down, anyway.

Yea, they haven't been scary from a dying perspective once I realized I had the glyph of guard still on from magera by accident so I wasn't absorbing any of the damage. Now they're mostly scary from trying to have the rakes go off before tanks have to be up on nests for nest guardians. I haven't figured out how we're supposed to do that yet, not sure if I just need to eat 5 stacks of talon rake to let the other tank go on time, or if our timing is totally fucked or what.
Ji-kun is trying to be our 2nd h kill, but after 2 nights I'm not sure we'll be getting it soon.
So uh, why are hunters now move while cast baseline, and caster classes not? I mean, I'd rather punch myself in the groin than use that godawful Arcane stand in one of two places hope you chose wisely talent. Seriously, we're squishy as fuck. Let me move and cast already. Having never played a lock, I was pretty astounded they could do that shit.
Hunters were doing so godawfully in PvE that they decided to toss in movement as a fix. It didn't really work, but has made every non-warlock caster completely jealous.

Anyway it'd be a nice boost to be able to buy a 489 fairly quickly if just for the LFR ilevel.
enough is enough
And about fourty ilvls below 5.4's LFR so....yeah. Silliness to the extreme.

And still Jp's are hard to get compared to valour
Not even a little bit. A single heroic scholomance gives 600+ JP

It's pretty ridiculous in PVP.
