Why is Ubisoft becoming more and more like EA?

Ubisoft used to be a company that I respected immensely. After the release of Beyond Good & Evil I was convinced that this company could do no wrong. Back then, when I saw a game with a Ubisoft logo on it I gave it the benefit of the doubt that it actually could be great[.
Today, things have changed. Ubisoft releases games that feel like refurbished versions of titles they have already done. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed both Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter games, but it just feels like Ubisoft needs to take more time and actually fine tune titles. We see the consequences of poorly made and reworked games in titles such as [link removed], which I reviewed for [link removed]. We also see this problem in the many bugs that plagued Rainbow Six Vegas (which even with the bugs was a great game).
I just don't understand what happened to Ubisoft's quality control. They are already working to put out another Splinter Cell game for a 2007 release! I was under the impression great games took a little longer to make....that is unless you are just expanding on a game you have already made and releasing it with new levels, calling it a new game.
I just feel like Ubisoft, who used to be my favorite publisher, is heading down the road of mass profits and mediocre titles like EA.
Sigh.
