the way she says the "oh" sounds at the end of snow, crow, know, etc dosen't sound (at least to my ears) like the same as other northeners. So is that something else leaking through or am I hearing things and that is a Yorkshire thing?

or is that just her thing

That way of saying lengthened "oh" sounds is common in various northern accents (bear in mind I'm a southerner so probably can't differentiate them as easily as a northerner would). I would place her accent as Yorkshire, but not as heavy as someone like Sean Bean. Maybe she mixes it up to sound like a wildling as opposed to a Northman, or maybe that's just how she does the accent.

Yorkshire's the biggest county in England so there's a fair range of "Yorkshire" accents. I mean I know the area it covers is tiny compared to the size of American states, but over here it seems like towns 10 miles apart can have distinct accents.

    I think he means Muldoon?

Oh right. Muldoon is English, Enc.

A lot of Americans seem to get Australian and English accents mixed up. Do we really sound the same to you guys?

Or are you making a joke in which case ignore me.

muldoon was australian in the book, I believe. definitely british in the movie

We just have trouble believing in an Englishman being that badass
Or having such a cool hat
I only know of one such person besides Muldoon

The most defining feature of Muldoon are his thighs.

I always thought Muldoon was Australian too. It's the hat.

Of course, even if Muldoon was an Aussie in the book that means nothing for the movie. Really only the major plot points are the same, most of the characters are really different.

    This might be great
Steve Carell and James Gandolfini are set to star and executive produce HBO Films‘ Bone Wars. The project, now in development, is based on the real-life Bone Wars (aka the Great Dinosaur Rush) between Edward Drinker Cope of the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia and Othniel Charles Marsh of the Peabody Museum of Natural History at Yale. Set during the post-Civil War birth of American science, the film is a sophisticated comedy about one of history’s most notorious feuds — the great dinosaur fossil race between paleontologists Marsh (Gandolfini) and Cope (Carell) — a decades-long competition that led to the discovery of more than 160 dinosaurs and their mutual downward spiral.

So I just went and saw this
First off, there were only 10 other people in the theater which made me pretty mad

But then I forgot about that because this movie still rules, and I don't normally go in for 3D but the conversion on this was really good!

But more importantly I realized I was watching it with people who'd never seen this movie before
The first time that brachiosaur goes strolling by and you can hear all the kids inhale really sharply and then just kinda marvel at it was pretty cool
Same with them flipping their shit when raptors get all up ins

I hope these kids have now started down that windy path of Loving Dinosaurs

  • DJ EebsDJ Eebs Moderator, Administrator admin
yeah until they find out that now dinosaurs have feathers and they just toss their hands in the air and go "well enough of that dinosaur bullshit"
