Bunk Beds

Although I had to sleep on the bottom bunk when I visited my parents over the weekend because the top one didn't have a mattress and I was too tired to move it up there.
When my brother and I were very young we had a bunk bed.
My dad put it together really really poorly though. You couldn't touch it without it squeaking loudly and shaking around. This meant that when we were both trying to go to sleep we had to be perfectly still.
Every night, while lying awake, I would shift to my side to get more comfortable. This would shake the bed and make enough noise to wake up my brother.
I would fall asleep but he could not. He would shift around to find a comfortable position to sleep in. This would shake the bed and make enough noise to wake me up.
Repeat until we are screaming at each other and waking up our parents.
because I don't always sit up suddenly in the middle of the night, but if I'm sleeping in a bed without enough headroom it's pretty much guaranteed to happen
I slept on the top bunk because my older brother had poor eyesight and if he slept up top he would wake up and not be able to see the floor and get scared and he would also sometimes fall off so I always got up top.
Top, I'm not a very heavy guy so I always took top bunk. This one time a fat kid tried to take top bunk and the bunk started to bend really gnarly so I went all alpha and said "fuck this, you're bottom bunk I don't wanna die"

the worst feeling in the world is when your pillow falls off the top bunk in the middle of the night
Or when your giant teddy bear does...
And then you wake up and your brother is sitting on it playing mario, sick as a dog, having thrown up and shit all over it... Then your mom has to throw out your favorite teddy,.

rolling off the top bunk while you're asleep and waking up mid fall
or bottom racking it and the top bunk collapses on top of you
Less noise? Hmm...

I've done that a few times, it sucked. Once while doing so, I hit my face on the bottom bunk's side boards and split my eyebrow open.
