Computer hardware madlibs?

Ok just really a question of balance between price and power on the proc given my other specs on the rig I'm building.

I'm sporting a

320MB Geforce 8800GTS
Creative X Fi Fata1ity
2 320 Gb Maxtor SATA HDs
2 Gb dual channel DDR2 (haven't bought this yet, so if you got an opinion on this, let me know)
600W PSU
DVD Burner (LiteOn LH20A1H186)
DVD ROM (LiteOn SHD16P1S)

What do you guys think would be a good processor for this rig? I'm a AMD fanboy but not completely that I'll disregard Intel Dual cores.

Hell if you got any type of input, anything would be greatly appreciated.

    Core 2 Duo.

Right now Intel is stomping on AMD's crotch about as much as AMD used to do to Intel back in the Pentium 4 days. That may change in the future (AMD is working on some interesting stuff right now), whatever, we're talking about now and not six months from now. Get a Core 2 Duo, either E6300 or if you've got a higher budget, E6600. If you're into overclocking you may want the E4300 instead, it's got a lower FSB and higher multiplier, so it's slower out of the box but you can push it really far.
