Good game tonight! So we've been talking about using Sandpoint as our home and moving to 4e.
We'll be starting at level 2 due to your triumphs against Black Fang. As far as RP goes, we'll assume that we're all the same characters that were present, so the group is acquainted. We can discuss the actual party balance and such but as I said, roll what you want to play and we'll make it fun. Standard 22 point buy.
Well also be using the Mercenary Guild idea for side questing and one-off adventures.
I really like the idea to swap back to 4th edition on a more permanent basis, with monthly dives into other systems if people are interested.
I hope no one takes this the wrong way but my fighter felt totally useless outside of combat, no good skills to speak of, and since most of the time I wasn't able to roll or contribute to searching rooms or identifying items or anything I just kind of checked out between combats and roleplayed much less as a result.
Not meant as an insult to @Peff at all, you're a joy to play with, but I'm just not suited to Pathfinder I think.
No need to even mention it, everyone has their preference and I get to play PF every week regardless of whether we do or not 4e is always fun for me so I have no complaints.

To be fair in 4e you wouldn't be identifying magical items as a fighter either. That being said, I know some people don't like 4e because they feel like it puts too many constraints on everything and there isn't enough wiggle room. I always feel that you can make as much wiggle room as you want, so if you want to ignore rules just do it!
And where does the newborn go from here? The net is vast and infinite.

Is it cool if I modify my ability scores a bit to fit with the 4e style a bit better?
Lets talk about our party config. Are we all staying with our current classes or are some of us switching?
If we need a leader I wouldn't be against rolling up a bow focused warlord to get some ranged and a leader in. Maybe a cleric since I've never played one of those.
If we need a defender I'll stick with fighter, though I may go more defensive focused if I'll be the only defender.
If somehow we need a striker I'd love to pull out Dox my changeling rogue who I spent much too long building a backstory to.
Also (and maybe I'm just generous) I know a lot of DMs hand out a few 'math fix' feats for free. Including but not limited to:
Improved Defenses (or any of the Superior <> feats)
Weapon Expertise feat
Weapon proficiency feat
These are the most common I've seen. All of these for free is probably a bit much, but one or two can be nice to have.
Also, also. Not sure how you want to handle gear. Standard loadout for lvl 2 would be lvl 1,2 and 3 magic item plus 520 gold to spend at your discretion.

That's actually a good call, most (if not all of) the 4e's I've been in have done this. I've also seen free primal/divine/arcane feats as well. I'll give the feats a once over and come up with a listing.
I'm going to take a look at the gear considerations, just because we've got quite a bit in party loot Depending on what's there, I may just split that up for everyone if its fair. I'll get that decided here shortly since it could affect character creation.
I'll add the info the the OP once I have a more definitive list.

So I just spent around an hour in the char builder only for it to fuck up and not save. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

You'll probably find it goes much faster the second time, once you know what you wanted the character to work like. I'm sorry it crashed, I hope it had nothing to do with all of us logging in to work on our characters.
Edit: It was Alandir right? When I tried to log in it just asked me if I wanted to load that character. I did and saved what was there, not sure if its the whole thing or not.

@Khildith You can go rogue if you want, I think I'm going to go either fighter or paladin. I wasn't too happy with my stand back and shoot ranger. Plus, with the frequency that my connection drops, being able to roleplay effectively is difficult.
I'm not sure of which race to go with yet. If I pick Dragonborn will everyone just start rolling their eyes?
Doesn't track HP and such since it is presumed to be handled wherever you're actually playing, but I did add power usage tracking a bit ago by popular demand at least.
Also I really need to get a new game going and do it on Roll20...

That is really neat, Infidel, and thanks, but I found the site I was looking at yesterday: iPlay4e.com
Ok, so as part of your class you have the 'Unarmed Combatant' feature. This grants you a +3 proficiency with fists which would make it the same as a sickle. Then you chose the 'Elemental Initiate' theme which grants a +2 proficiency bonus to unarmed attacks. I'm not sure that those are supposed to stack, but that's the only way I could make sense of having a +7 unarmed attack. One weird thing is that most of the monk powers are 'implement' powers that would be using your Ki Focus for the attack bonus. Your Ki Focus at current time isn't a +anything so unless you are making a regular melee attack there shouldn't be any difference anyway.

You aren't getting your monk bonus because you aren't equipping your "Monk unarmed strike" (it is a "weapon" you have to actually "equip" in the CB).
So you are getting the +2 prof / 1d6 instead on your MBA. If you change from "Unarmed" to "Monk unarmed strike" you'll get +3 /1d8. That would make your MBA +5 vs the +4 you get with the sickle.
No, they don't stack, the level 1 feature of Elemental Initiate is "monk lite" and does nothing for you.

The CB said to sell the Monk unarmed strike because the rules had changed, though.
EDIT: And I meant to change Ele Init to something else, so I'll do that now.

... what? >_>
God dammit, Wizards, your shit is so terrible.
Anyways, you're getting robbed by the CB for your monk feature. I don't know if it would work fine without the Monk unarmed strike as you say, if it does it is probably fucked up by the theme or something.
I looked at your CB file to figure out what was going on in the first place and you are currently getting just the theme feature. +1 Str +1 level +2 prof = +4 MBA.

This one any better? They're all plus 5 now, still no Unarmed thing because I cannot figure out how to get it back. Changed my theme to Wilder.
Yeah, they were lying, without the weapon you have a +2 MBA now.
Weapons and magic weapons are in separate categories in the CB item shop, make sure you are in the plain ol' regular weapons. I would expect it to be there to hopefully buy back, but it is possible they fucked that up and screwed you.
You could recreate your character to get it back of course. It is a pretty important part of your character, being a monk and all, and it is much easier to fix now than when you've leveled a shit load.

I thought there was a thing that replaces str with Dex, is it only the Melee Training feat or is there something else?
No weapon finesse in 4e...because communism, apparently.

The only time I would be using a MBA/weapon damage is if I was charging or using OA. Is it worth it to get Melee Training Dex now or should I wait for my next feat?
EDIT: Can a sickle be used as an implement? None of the Monk's attack use [W] as a damage so far, that I've seen.

I'm comfortable making just about anything. Any suggestions/role needs?

MHR is the light.
Mostly is that all good, more specifically, why is my unarmed attack +7 while the sickle is +5 if I'm proficient in both?

If so I can edit the CB file to bring it back.

If swapping hands with a sickle is a free or minor action I should be fine.
