Gods Eater is a pretty amazing game. I do not get too fancy with the bullets, but being a blademaster AND gunner at the same time is absolutely awesome
Best monster hunter like fame i ever played
ONLY monster hunter like game i played :P

Difference is that i did not need a japanese PSP, the 3DS is not as nice and the american one will not play MH4 or i would import it instantly

A Japanese 3DS still doesn't cost $1000, even imported. Even an XL with the XL circle pad pro wouldn't be $1000. That is the part of your statements I don't understand.

Oh heh emphasis through exaggeration on my part there. I just meant that i will not get it despite wanting it

It would cost me close to four hundred, cause i would not get the circle pad. Been playing MH3U on 3DS and have not seen any need for that thing. Still, with three kids i cannot justify spending four hundred on a game even though i love the franchise so much

I watch social dissonance playing MH4 and i gotta say that i am not that impressed with bug staff or charge axe, BUT i am super impressed with EVERYTHING in the game, so maybe the new weapons just suffer by comparison to all the other things i am stoked about:
    Monsters old and new
    Lots of bugs
    Tigrex
    Monkeys
    Climbing
    Randomizedish environment
    Tigrex
    Fluid motion of hunter
Scampering up a wall like a Gecko on speed
    Tigrex
    More personalized companion
    New armors weapons
    Revamped weapon movesets
    JUMPING HAMMER SMASH
    Leaping lance stab
Anything having to do with leaping and jumping
Did i remember to include Tigrex?

I spent under $200 for an imported 3DS for DQM Terry's Wonderland... and apparently MH4. A US CPP works fine with the JP model, I believe.

Hell, I wish I had waited another week and just imported the 2DS instead. I'm apparently stereoblind and can't see the 3D effect on the 3DS, and my import system isn't leaving the house, so...

  • MordaRazgromMordaRazgrom Морда Разгром Ruling the Taffer KingdomRegistered User regular
The 3D effect works fine for me but i never use it
I dont know about you guys, but i never sit up straight and hold the 3DS in the same spot when i am playing
I always lounge about and will hold it to the left or right or above me when i am playing
The slightest movement with the 3D effect turned on messes up the effect so i cannot have it on without getting crazy doubling effects

Wait wait wait - MH4 has a leaping hammer smash? The s+s leap attack is why falling in love with that weapon (well, that and the quick dodge out of combos).

    Cool news.

You can leap attack with EVERY weapon in MH4
In fact the draw slash and two button attack is no longer a leap attack on SnS in 4. Instead you do this quirky quickstep slide-and-slash

It's not the cost as much as it is being the cost for something I already have and will get only one game out of. Not only will I only get one game out of it I'll also stop playing it the moment I can buy a us version and understand what the hell is happening.

The choice for me really is a WiiU and MH3U plus some other stuff I've been wanting to play on the system or MH4 with an import 3DS. When I look at it that way the WiiU wins the next big purchase award.

I am a little biased being a nintendo fanboy, but WiiU was one of my favorite purchases last year.
The controller is freakin perfect for my giant Wreck It Ralph hands and, other than monster hunter i got Lego City ZombiU Mario Metroid FZero and so much fun!
Buying a console for one game will cause my wallet to grow hands just so it can stab me
PSP was kind of a one game purchase, but i did get other games so i was safe

I've grown to love the heft of the WiiU pad. At first I was out off by it, not now going back to the 360 feels like holding a little toy imitation of a controller.

I'm actually thinking of selling off my 360, actually. I've got a PC that can actually run Dark souls 2, and that's the only thing coming up I really want. By the way, who's kid do I have to kidnap to get that ported to WiiU?

No, the XL CPP is on the Nintendo store, and apparently is on Amazon.com too, although those are overpriced imports.

I just wish there were one I could semi-permanently mount on the bottom of my 3DS XL, replacing and extending the battery.

Something like this canceled mockup from Nyko:

Tanzia Port, Single Player/Offline mode. There should be hunters just hanging around the food kiosks and the guild hall counter. If you talk to them, you can hire one of them (only one at any given time).

I watch social dissonance playing MH4 and i gotta say that i am not that impressed with bug staff or charge axe, BUT i am super impressed with EVERYTHING in the game, so maybe the new weapons just suffer by comparison to all the other things i am stoked about:
    [...Tigrex...]

The charge axe move set feels kind of limited to me but the insect staff is legit! It's just too much fun. I mean, I get to launch a giant beetle at people that explodes on contact. You can't beat that!

But, I imagine if you are watching videos of the insect staff it probably seems pretty meh compared to the new weapons, same with the charge axe, as you are watching people with weeks of experience with a weapon versus years of experience with some other weapons. I am sure people will learn to to other things than just spam flipping into the air eventually.

Er, I may be confused -- where do I go to unlock this in game? I have like 30-40 streetpassed... guild cards? Or are the streetpassed cards different than multiplayer guild cards?
Tanzia Port, Single Player/Offline mode. There should be hunters just hanging around the food kiosks and the guild hall counter. If you talk to them, you can hire one of them (only one at any given time).

Now would also be a good time to point out the "hunters for hire" tab on your lower screen/GamePad when you're in Moga. Tapping on that will show you what quests your streetpassed buddies want to take, and there's even another button that will take you directly to the port.

That shortcut is kinda nifty. Is there one hiding anywhere for the reverse trip? (To quickly jump from Tanzia back to the village?)

Not a panel button, but you can hit X at the transition between the Port and Marina to fast travel if you don't like talking to Neko (means "cat").

Hammer's pretty simple, isn't it? Or maybe that's "Deceptively simple." Just smack shit a few times and call it good. I'm sure comboing is probably a bit more complex than mashing X, but it's worked so far. ;)

I started over, but haven't deleted my old save -- been trying for a good charm table, and if it's not a good one, starting over again. Hammer first time (Table 8), then this Lance start is Table 10.

I like Lance's ability to attack upwards, I imagine popping something's tail would be easy as a Lancer.

I hear 10 is a great table, so I might just keep that save for the time being. I think my 115 hour save is table 8.

Hammer requires....patience, because you will be open for a smackdown after the end of a golf swing or ground pound.

I imagine a large part of the skill with a hammer comes with knowing all the times you can sneak in the right charge attack against a monster's head.

Sorry if you already know, but be sure to roll-cancel the recovery. You willnot be as open to attacks.
After you golf swing or superpound just roll to the side

My problem with that, at least in the golf swing, is that I don't have the timing down for the combo so I have to just mash, and it doesn't seem to let you roll cancel the recovery if there was a follow up input after the last combo button press event though it doesn't queu up another attack.

I'm not sure. I'm pretty terrible at those kinda of things. I think I could figure it out with practice though.

Huh. Managed to down the Qurupeco in the port, using the default Dual Swords -- and H Rank G. Wroggi armor. Freaking HATE Los showing up. Especially when my dung bombs don't work. :P

If anyone wants to play tonight I'll likely be down. Looks like my night is free.

I still need to kill Alatreon to unlock Crystal Jhen (Hallowed Jhen Moran in game I think), but can post anything else. More than happy to help with farming specific monsters/items, doing key quests to rank up ASAP, a mix of the two, low/high/g rank, whatever.

Just post in the thread if you want to play, I'll periodically check the thread to see if anyone's hopping on.
