Heya all, so PAX Aus has come and gone. Theres way too much to say about my day but in short, it was incredible! I will definitely be going next year, hopefully for the full 3 days.

As for the pins, i tried to get as many as i could without sacrificing too much time for other stuff, I went on the saturday and they were limiting the Aus sets to one per person. Being with my brothers and I, we got 3, one for us and two to trade (already traded)

Only got one chandra unfortunately, there was a huge line at the magic booth and my brothers split up at the time to see something else so i could only get one for myself.

Only speaking for myself here but im kind of only interested in collecting official 'Pinny Arcade' pins. And i think we should just stick to trading those. At least for this thread

First, I'm super jealous that you got to go to PAX Australia but hope you had a great time. Maybe one day I'll manage to go myself.

And bringing up the Halo pins wasn't meant to derail the thread, or drum up interest in trading them. I just can't imagine that they weren't influenced by Pinny Arcade. Not to mention, I'm a fan of the franchise.

PAX Aus was awesome! I'm an Aussie and I - along with everyone else there - was so excited PAX has been brought to Australia

Sometimes people give them to you sometimes people trade etc etc, I had a couple of spare sets, one I wore and trade and the other is in my private collection.
so I ended up trading some of my spare Aus set and core for PAX East EXCL and now I have doubles.

It does seem to be. I think I'm going to keep the Pins in a bag and just wear the lanyard to show I have stuff to trade.

You should only wear your trade stuff imo, if you want to show off your collection thou id just be uber aware of them whilst wearing them.

From where the pin trading stands at the moment most people only will trade sets for sets between different PAX's

Yea, I would never wear my collection pins. Only ones to trade.

I keep going back and forth on wanting an AUS and PRIME set and not wanting them (and only sets of PAXes I go to). Arg. Haha.

edit: The problem is that I have only an extra Merch pin right now. I could get someone to buy me a PRIME set to trade for an AUS set though. Hmmm. Will people still have extra AUS sets to trade for PRIME sets? Then I have to wonder about getting the next Chandra pin I'm sure. V3. Farts.

Opps my bad I miss read your post, I didn't have any issues with the pins falling off. I found it handy looking at peoples lanyards and seeing what they had so I could ask them if they wanted to trade for what I wanted personally.

My Aus pin fell off at one point and I couldn't find it. The one shaped like Australia. I was much more careful with the rest after that.

I never had any issues at East with pins falling off. You just have to be careful and watch what you are rubbing against and if your bags straps rub against you.

My pins never fell off. Dunno. Just gotta be careful and jam them on, I guess.

@redfield85 as far as strategies, I heard one person say they just got into the Magic line at PAX East like 5 times and got 5 Chandra pins, and then traded them for what they wanted. They bragged that they didn't spend a dime. Which is pretty cool, if you want to take the time.

I personally bought 2 base sets, and 2 East sets at East. One of each to keep, one base to trade with Tycho/Gabe/Staff, and one East to trade. So it was a lot of $$ right off the bat, but I like collecting, and like the interactions that come with it (like this thread!). So, it's worth it to me. But with that, I definitely am aiming more for the full set trades instead of the individual trades. I also did wait in line for the Chandra pin, but mostly cuz I had friends that wanted to do it, so I figured why not get a pin

I went in to the Magic line purely for the pin but I came out the other end $200 down on MTG boosters It totally got me! So that turned in to a pretty expensive Chandra pin haha. Well worth it though, MTG was great fun.

You were only supposed to be able to get one pin per person but unfortunately a lot of people simply rubbed off the marker on the badge (they really need a better system), people also did this to score free booster after free booster. Can't say I really advocate the practice...

On a side note, has anyone recieved their DLC pin yet? I still havent in Australia, not sure if i should be concerned yet... They were scheduled to be shipped 11/7

I just got my DLC pin a week ago. I wouldn't worry too much. Give it another week or two. It is an awesome pin though. Even the backing it comes on is awesome. It's the same merch backing, but black with a gold crown saying Limited Edition.

@grgemonkey lol yeah that's gotta hurt the wallet. Huh I don't think they had any marking system at PAX East. One person just overall watched each group play the demo, and near the end of the demo 15 mins, gave everyone a pin. So it was just a one time thing. Then they herded all of us out, herded the next whole group in, and started over again.

@redfield85 I totally forgot that you could do that. Thank you. I may do that at PAX Prime just to get some to trade.

Looking back I don't know why I traded the majority of my PAX East 2013 pins with Gabe/Tycho (also had to trade 2 of my pins for my friend to get them as well... that douche).

Anyways, I'm also going to Prime, so I'm actually looking to get a full PAX East set as well as a PAX Aus set, so I'd be willing to do even swaps for PAX Prime sets if anyone would be interested.
