@HydroSqueegee : The important think to remember in an Awesome is to not be the First lIne. Be the 2nd. If you're the first thing they see, you'll be lit up, and you don't have the profile to take the hits like a stalker or atlas.
I run the 8q with a STD 300, 3 Large and 4 medium, crammed with heat sinks.
I've..uh...also been known to run it with 7 Mpulse and . Which is hilarious.
this is my strategy in almost all my builds. nothing i use can take a huge beating, so it should be an easy transition.
It's worth noting guys that it's not done yet, and I do realize the colors need some tweaking to make everything pop properly. You'll still have the old mechlab as well, for the time being at least but without the awesome new functionality. I'll see what I can do about creating a "dark" theme close to the old one and set a cookie to remember it for you when you're on the site.
Welcome to every single match on Frozen City Night for me since it was introduced.
Favorite things about this video:
1. When you turn left around the building trying to get a clear shot at the a Catapult again early on and it's just a featureless gray void and you're like "Nope."
2. Bonus non-functional minimap and lancemate display bugs.
3. How you fire your medium lasers a total of one time, such is your devotion to the dakka.
That video happened to freeze for buffering just as you fired. Apparently autocannons fire missiles. O_o
I think that's been pointed out before, but it's still amusing.
Would sort of make sense if they were the semi-guided autocannon rounds from later in the timeline.
Didn't the rebooted Battlestar Galactica have an episode where a Battlestar's turrets are depicted basically firing missiles, or at least rocket-propelled guided rounds?

the lasers are only there for when i absolutely need them. otherwise they jump my heat up too high and i lose a few shots of AC2 goodness because i have to cool down.

I was hoping you would go the whole match without using them but then you ruined it.
Do you find the lasers helpful for when enemies close in on you? In my experience with double AC/2s on my K2 and triple AC/2s on a Dragon, they are somewhat more difficult to manage at knife-fight distance.

i do run out of ammo sometimes and i like to have something to fall back on. and when lights get up in my face its easier to sweep them with the lasers than the autocannons. also usefull for when you need that little extra oomph to finish off a worn down enemy a little quicker, aka that dragon.
i have a heart breaker to upload where we lost a conquest by a sliver of the enemies final cap point. we would have had it if the pubby that was running to the final point with me didnt stop half way there.
in fact, gonna go start the compression.
still cant figure out why afterburner sometimes gets my mic input and sometimes doesnt.
ho buddy! i knew i got a 6 core proc for a reason. sooo much faster than my old phenom2

You know, if you dropped the lasers for two more tons of ammo you'd probably never run out of the dakka. :winky:
And see, I was fiddling in the 'mech lab and got to almost the same build except I went down to six tons of ammo to go up to a total of four medium lasers...

true, but i lose arms more often than i run out of ammo.
I ran Hunchbros last night with Cap and Forbe and Altman.
We didn't always win, but we had a Good Time(tm) .
Earlier during solo pubbing, I got 3 kills in like 30 seconds on some very situationally unaware heavies using my 4p and only 6 button clicks. A dragon, a splat cat, and a Jager. Poor poor bastards. THey were all fresh as a baby, too.

May is going to be a great month. I can feel it! Let's start by going over the content of this patch!
The Stalker Hero 'Mech "Misery" sure does live up to its name, with a paint job that reflects its war torn soul and the hard points to cause plenty of misery on the battlefield.
Just check out this trailer to see what I mean! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVnkBs9WQMM
A new Trial 'Mech Champion! The Jenner JR7-F(C). This is a legendary developer build that has been tearing through Atlas armour since closed Beta. Give it a spin and prepare to be tempted to purchase this Champion 'Mech on May 21st.
After making you wait long enough, you can now change the colours on your Hero 'Mech. We can't wait to see what kind of colour combinations you guys create.
We have a real treat for you, the Buccaneer custom pattern! I asked Alex (Flying Debris) what his inspiration was and this is what he said. I was imagining "Some crazy, bearded, malnourished man with missing teeth going to work with a paint roller in the 'Mech hanger while indulging in questionable substances. This mech painting bender happened after the force he was attached to made off with thirty tons of potatoes, women's shoes, and stereo equipment, from the last backwater planet they raided". Ok Alex. I am just going to back away slowly now. Plenty of hidden messages in this cool custom pattern can you spot them all?
New 'Mech statue Cockpit items added to round out the customization.
We have some good improvements and fixes as well, to clean up functionality and stability.
You should also be aware we are working hard to address the HUD issues and are getting closer to a solution.
See you on the battlefield,
Matt Newman

Maaaaan I have a bad feeling that if I don't have too many extraneous expenses this month I'm gonna drop like a hundred bucks on this game and fill my mech bays with Stalkers.
Summary googling isn't helping me on this one - what the devil is a champion mech?
The http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Champion is a fun cross between a Centurion and Dragon.
It's a variant somewhere between a regular and a hero. They give a 5% XP boost, but no C-bill boost.
Hunchbros was fun. Running a 4 man of hunchbacks seemingly broke the matchmaking system but we had some really fun games going!
I can see that they are tuning hero mechs with quirks. Depending on how they do it that could be bad. I mean, it's the only stalker w/a ballistic but they also improved the torso twist by 10% which is a huge shortcoming for the other stalkers. Oh well, if you're going to pay the $30+ to play it I'll still kill you with my hunchbros.

New patch is up and running already; downloading it now.
No mention of a pass at any weapon balance whatsoever, so unless they made secret fixes again, the game balance is still basically shit for at least another couple of weeks. Is it seriously that fucking hard to go into a weapon file and bump a number or two up slightly to at least start APPROACHING an attempt at better balance? Would have to take all of 5 minutes for the devs to do that.
The "champion" 'mechs are also variants designed by member of the community. Therefore they tend to be more optimized and closer to a build that a good player might actually run out of the box compared to stock variants or even Hero variants (most of which have pretty shit loadouts, it must be said).

It's basically not a Hero mech. You get bonus XP, but no bonus CBills.
