THE MAD MEN SHOW is a show about Dan Draple, a man who smokes many face-cigarretes and drinks many grown-up brown drinks. He wears suit-clothes and is tortured.

Roger_Sterling.jpg
Dan Draple works with Robert Grayhair, who is not Dan Drople's dad even though it seems like it. He drinks gin and is mean.

Pete_Campbell_Wiki.jpg
Dan Draple also works with Pet Clambell, who wants things -- to have!

Peggy_Olson_Wiki.jpg
Dan Draple really likes Peggy Olmenson, a lady who used to be Dan Drople's old writer-downer, and is now an idea-writer-downer.

m3191.jpg
Dan Draple works with many other people, who work by standing around looking mysterious for several hours a day.

Mad Men Season 6 is starting RIGHT NOW. Shut the door. Have a seat.

Last season was '69, so I suppose the show moved into 1970 or is just about to? It must have. All that hair. Those sideburns. Even Roger looked like he had let it grow out a bit.

I think Don is going to keep his slick clean cut hair forever. Never surrender.

Was Don stoned throughout this episode or just drunk? Everything was very surreal.

Last season was 1966, this episode was the end of 1967. The season will take place during 1968, which is very exciting indeed. Lots of bad shit.
Sandy is totally going to join the Manson family, I would bet money on this

I need to figure out how to get Don Draper to have an affair with my imaginary wife so he'll give me a Leica. But none of this M2 shit, M3 or GTFO.

So I finally got around to finishing The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret last night.
Jon Hamm was the best part of the show. If you have 264 minutes to burn it's almost worth it just to get to his part.

I don't know if there's another show that has introduced a character so late in its run that I've loved as much as Michael Ginsberg

I am not caught up, is Michael the jerk creative guy who is also really good at it?

Michael's the one Peggy hires in Season 5, the ultra-neurotic Jewish guy

    Ginsberg remains best.

It felt really weird cheering on Pete in this episode, especially because he was such a creep in the scene before it. Still, that was a great scene for him.

And I hope Pete's the one to do it. Or Joan.

I half expected Zombie Lane to shamble into the scene and pummel Harry mercilessly

Betty's storyline was actually interesting during the season premier! I was surprised; I've been lukewarm at best towards her in past seasons.

this season has been very good so far, although nothing has been able to touch the mystery date - signal 30 - far away places - codfish ball - lady lazarus streak from last season. signal 30 is so good it hurts me. right here.

all the facial hair is just fantastic.

I'm not sure if the girl she was so concerned over was someone new they just dropped in our laps for that, or if I somehow compleeeeetely forgot her being introduced last season. Having no idea who it was really hampered my enjoyment of it, though.

....I'm gonna feel silly when someone tells me she was in like half the season or something, now.

Harry's the biggest asshole on the show, IMO. It's subtle, but underneath his affable exterior he just does not give a shit about anything other than himself.

Edit: That might be a little too strong of a statement but he's still a huge asshole.

Signal 30 is one of my favorite hours of television ever. It's a beautifully constructed short story, and I reckon it would stand alone and be potent/powerful even to people who've never seen the show before. One of those hours of television that remind you just what the medium's capable of. I can still hear the closing sounds of the faucet dripping, and they still give me chills.

I think what makes Harry Crane so repugnant is that he never even seems aware he's being a dick. Like, everyone on the show does shitty stuff basically all the time, but most of them at least have the decency to feel bad about it. Harry never gets why people think he's acting shitty.

  • LanglyLangly Registered User regular
yeah, I think I dislike Harry the most. Pete is someone I still want to see succeed and grow and change. I want Harry to get thrown out of the office.

Agreed on all counts, plus it has Pete getting punched in the face and the "chewing gum on his PUBIS!" line. gold.

I know this show draws a lot of complaints for its sometimes glacial plotting, but when shit goes down, it goes down.

Seeing Peggy crush on Chaough was... disappointing.
