Oh thank god! I thought Kenny had died.
I was 100% ready to quit the show if they killed him.

I had my finger hovering above my remote's power button, ready to turn off the show and walk away forever.

It was weird to see Pete actually demonstrate that he has learned something, for once in his fucking life. Begrudgingly, but still.

Also, I hope a cartoon anvil falls on Don and kills him dead.

    Man, that was some episode.

That ad rehearsal in the conference room was one of the funniest things Mad Men's ever done.

I totally wasn't expecting him to do that. Had to pause the episode to control my laughing. Ten seconds later, Joan made me laugh even harder.

This show adds new characters better than any other one I've seen

I can probably never watch the first 3 seasons again because they don't have Stan, Ginsberg, Bob Benson, or Cutler

Just like how the first season and a half of Breaking Bad is so weird without Saul, Gus, or Mike

Blowing up the show is a super interesting move right before the final season

Also, poor Peggy. Stuck in an apartment she hates because of a man, stuck in a job she hates because of a man. In these roles of ostensible ownership/authority, but didn't choose either of them

    How are things?
    Not great, Bob!

That line shouldn't be so funny so why I am I still laughing thinking about it?

I recognize that the conclusion of Pete's mom's storyline is kinda cartoonish and silly and weird, but I don't fucking care, I was giggling the entire time

Fuck that was some ending, it was one of the weaker series overall imo. But the ending was fantastic

  • Muddy WaterMuddy Water Quiet Batperson Registered User regular
Yeah, that finale makes me wanna go through the whole season again. Maybe it's because it was following the amazing fifth season, but season 6 did feel a bit... directionless for the most part. Or at least lacking in forward momentum. It felt like the show was repeating itself. I do however think that it all came together in the end, so to speak. This one definitely deserves a rewatch.

  • satansfingerssatansfingers Registered User regular
i felt throughout this season like it was really about dismantling the don draper mythos. i didn't expect the ending, but it feels really perfect thinking back on the season in retrospect.

  • FAQFAQ Registered User regular
His arc seemed like it was just repeating itself from previous seasons, but given the ending yeah a rewatch might be in order. It may have been my mood but there was something beautiful bout those last 20 minutes

  • Muddy WaterMuddy Water Quiet Batperson Registered User regular
Yeah, Don hitting rock bottom has been done before. Don being a selfish monster has been done before. Don going "that's it, time for a change, new slate" has also been done before. But this is the first time that he hasn't tried to just uproot and change everything, this is the first time he's tried to come to terms with he who he really is and acknowledge his past, instead of trying to start over clean.

it felt different to me this season because it wasn't really couched in don pulling through. the horrible stuff was no longer fuel to his creative genius; it was just an end to itself. to me, the hershey pitch ends up being the crux of it. in previous seasons, he pulls through and nails that. but now, he's just tired of being a monster. he had it nailed, but then he completely sabotages himself. he wants change. he wants to stop running from himself.

    Man, fuck a Don Draper

Give me the Bob Benson and Joan Holloway show

    Solving mysteries

Roger always poking his head in all "can i come with" NO ROGER YOU CAN'T COME WITH

Yeah, I agree. That moment and just the whole ending puts his arc this season into a new light. Before that though, it was starting to feel a bit samey.

Naw, rodger always gets to go along, but he's constantly and obviously being cockblocked by bob the entire time.

I'm only just catching up on this show, I'm at the season 3 finale
I like this show a lot but I feel less of a drive to marathon it, because where other shows will have a goal or narrative arc laid out at the start of the season, this one often just turns into "watch these good-looking people's lives spiral out of control"

But with the season 3 finale
when they've all found out they're being sold and they take the completely bonkers move of "let's just form our own goddamn company!"
I am absolutely loving every second of this

i have watched season 6.But I suspect Mad Men will be a small audience success story. It's a quality show, for grown ups, and the fact that it's on AMC will mean it can live a full life with less than network audience numbers.

Oh shit, Joe is on the phone, make sure nobody tells Carol about Bill!!!!

Ken Cosgrove has to make it out of this show okay.

I will not accept a tragic or unhappy ending for him.
