So I just found something(s) on my feet. I wash my feet thoroughly. I wear clean socks when I wear shoes (which is admittedly rare), I don't have any real foot funk, other than what is to be expected. My feet do not smell, and they aren't slimy, etc.

But I just found what can only be described as a zit on the inside of the arch of my foot. Two of them. Bubbles of clear liquid, similar to blisters, except embedded inside of the skin, rather than manifesting in a growth on the exterior. They were not painful at all, and I've exploded them. I had to use a razor to weaken the flesh a bit, because I run around all the time barefoot, and my feet are quite calloused. (Gravel driveways)

Is this some variation on a blister? I've actually had these off and on for a while, but the sheer magnitude of fluid that came out of the first one has me a bit concerned. (No less than half a teaspoon)

It could be an abscess, or a massive wort (I think it's a wort?). Mine covered about 1/4 the bottom of my foot, was kinda round, but it was stiff and took a long time to go away.

According to wikipedia, warts are caused primarily by types of HPV. I don't see anything on the page about drainage, though. I think warts are just lumps.

Yeah, sort of. But there are only one or two at a time. It's not an epic growth. And they're a bit more pale. They were literally just beneath-the-skin bubbles of clear puss.

If it is dyshidrosis, the blisters could have been in the initial stage, they will get darker and harden and then fall off. It could have been a regular blister too, I've had a few before that had no pain before or after. If you get more, see a dermatologist. You should be able to stop that kind of blister by changing your socks often if you get sweaty feet. A good wicking sock and changing 2 - 3 times a day will help to keep things dry. I get it in the summertime, only a very mild case with only 4 or 5 tiny clusters of two or three blisters each. It goes away in a week or so and then starts up again once or twice more. It isn't contagious or dangerous, but if you get bad outbreaks, it can be painful.

edit: Kewop, yeah it is a type of eczema.

I recently had tinea, or athlete's foot after I took up being at the gym for extended periods of time. Apparently in certain cases, the increased sensitivity of the flesh due to the fungal infection can cause blisters. I had some very large ones that match your description, but mine were generally between the toes.

However, it doesn't sound like it could be tinea because of the infrequency of you wearing shoes. By the sounds of it, your feet aren't in moist environments.

    I recommend a doctor's opinion, really.

It's just a blister, you said you run alot, and on gravel driveways, I got one time from a skate cause it was too tight, and I also got one from walking/standing too much, they went away in a week, nothing to worry about.

Yeah, I have that same thing on the ring and pinky finger of my left hand. As near as I can tell it is from a chemical burn I got once.

Got to get this out of the way: this is not medical advice, trust nobody here who says that "it is X" because internet diagnosis is impossible, etc.

There are a few hundred conditions that present with blisters or blister-seeming epidermal issues (papules, chancres, ulcers, the like). This could be anything, really. What I might do in your place is to take a minute and think about how else you're feeling since you noticed the 'blisters'. Any changes in how you feel overall? (things like being more tired, or having less appetite). Then, check around your entire body (do it in the shower) for things that look just like what you already found, elsewhere on your body.

If you find more, or you're sure you feel differently somehow, and you're worried about either one, then it would be okay to call a family doc to look into it. If you don't find more and don't feel differently, I wouldn't worry about it any more unless it gets worse.

    wtf? O_o

if it is painful it is likely a planter's wart. i had one on the boot of my heel when i was a kid. i was embarrassed so i walked on the side of my foot for 6 months. when i finally wised up and evil pedotrist who literally smoked a cigarette while he worked on me dug it out of my foot with some sort of metal medival torture device. it was harrowing.

but i walk on my feet normally today.

There's definitely nothing else like this on my body. I would be...pretty stressed if there were. I dont feel different, although my appetite has changed. I haven't eaten today. Or yesterday. And the day before that, all I ate was...I think a bowl of rice crispies. Usually I eat a lot, but I think it's because I've been playing Oblivion so much. (Level 1 to 40 in a week)

Hmm, forgetting to eat while you game...you sound just like my brother. I'm hoping you exaggerated that in a friendly way - if you are truly serious about having zero appetite for that long, then a call to the family doctor is indeed appropriate (but it is probably unrelated to these blisters and, on its own without a fever of some kind, is very confusing).

Really, though, dermatopath is just way too complicated of a science to do without having someone in the room, poking and prodding and taking samples. People have mentioned eczema, blisters, plantar's wort; there are also many different kinds of cyst, some fungus, parasites, and viral possibilities. We can't rule out any of them here. The uniting factor about things on your skin, in just one specific place, that are not dark-colored patches of skin with irregular borders, is that it is rare that they are signs of horrible systemic diseases.

If the blisters bother you, or you're worried about them and that bothers you, then ring the family doc. If not, don't sweat it. The only thing I can guarantee you is that we're all guessing.

Wow, I used to get things that look like the blisters on that hand all over the bottom of my feet when I was a kid. Not nearly so profuse as in the hand picture but they looked exactly the same and they were just clear pus like you mentioned. Never figured out what it was since I apparently grew out of it many years ago.

Yeah, I get those nasty little blisters, mostly on the side of my fingers but I've had them on my toes before as well. They tend to flare up when the weather is hot. My understanding is that it's excema, and I've had a cream for it before but I tend to just live with it until it goes away.

I really was only exaggerating. (I think I ate a hotdog on one of the days, but not the day of my post) I'm going to be moving out of here next week, and starting classes on the 9th, so I don't have anything to do at all. That's why I've occupied my days so extensively. And I have a habit of eating when I'm not hungry anyway. I just wasn't hungry. *shrug*

And I'm not nasty, dammit. That's why this worried me...

as an avid Oblivion player i know how many hours go into 1-40. I have been playing two months at around 110 hours and im lvl 26. we are all gamer nerds here but you got to get some sun and eat better than a hot dog and a bowl of krispies in 3 days. your body is probably reacting to you treating it like shit imo.

My playtime is 92:06:06. That is a lot, I guess. For a week. (7-9 days ish)

Actually, I'm 3 skillups from 41. But I take care of myself, mostly. Like I said. The only reason I ever played like that was because it was, at the time, the only thing I could do to pass the hours. The same reason I picked up guitar, actually. I should have just played that. At least I would have improved some. In 92 hours.

Edit: Anyway, this thread's kind of going on a tangent. Thanks? For the help? Heh. I wont worry about it unless it gets worse.

I get those on my fingers occasionally where I had a skin infection years ago. I try to clean it off very well if I pop them because it just tends to make it worse if I don't.

And I do occasionally get them on my feet as well, especially when it's hot and I sweat a lot.

I would bet yours were so big because they were under a callus, and the constant friction of walking just made them worse.
