You grab things with the shoulder buttons, which I imagine is just as irritating as the shaking of the Wii-version.

I was really hoping that with the waggle out of the picture they would return to the tried and true control scheme of the original games. First reactions are that people are bothered by the control scheme, which is honestly something I want to spend no time thinking about in a retro-platformer.

At least they moved roll to a button. The long roll jumps were a pain to pull of on the wii. Stupid shaking. Also, at what angle do you guys hold the 3ds? Some games work just fine, but others I cannot for the life of me find the sweet spot with the 3d turned on.

I have noticed this too. I think it's actually an issue with the display. If you have high contrast pictures, like a white box on a black background, some of the white will always shine through.

Yeah, you'll get ghosting with an image with such high contrast.

Happens sometimes in Luigi's Mansion, but I guess it's appropriate for that game.

Well, I don't really like using the shoulder buttons all that much, I can't really get a comfortable grip on the system if I have to use them often.

Then again, this game isn't all that high on my list of priorities this year. I loved the Wii version, but I can't really justify buying the same game twice if there are literally dozens of new games coming out this year I wanna buy.

I didn't find they were difficult, and in fact I thought they felt more natural when mapped to a shaking motion, especially when you used the Wii Remote & Nunchuck combo.

...but some people can't seem to wrap their brains around motion controls in general, so I forgive you.

Exactly! People need to be much more willing to try game controls that don't necessarily involve buttons, such as movement and touchscreens.

I'll be honest, for the first hour or so that I was playing Super Mario 3D Land I was shaking my Mario occasionally, thinking it make Mario spin and get me a little bit more airtime in my jumps.

My problem with the waggle-to-roll was the fact that it didn't always execute. Speedrunning was rendered totally unfun by this, because it basically required you to roll constantly.

You know what annoys me? Games that make you use ONLY the +pad as movement/menu naviagation, and assing other functions to the circle pad. I have big hands, and even on the XL, it's much more confortable to keep my thumb on the circle pad most of the time. But NO, said Etrian Odyssey, FUCK YOU STORMY, you gonna haf ta keep ur fukken thumb on the stupid +pad and get all fucking cramped.

Isn't your birthday tied to your Mii?

I love the 3DS dpad, so I always switch to it for menu navigation. Unless the circle pad is being used for something else at the moment it should probably also control the menus though, kinda a weird design choice.

Ahh that might have been my problem. I can't recall using the nunchuck once in that game. Don't get me wrong I still played the hell out of that game, and really enjoyed it I just found the roll to be inconsistent. That might have just been me though.

I just got RE:Rev and after a while of playing I find out you can adjust the 3D in a menu. Because I am a manly man the only setting is the highest setting, but now I actually find myself sick and dizzy, I feel defeated.
