so i live here in South Korea, and i was watching their version of MTV and i seen this music video come up. i think it was done pretty dam well for live action the music on the other hand is not my cup o tea. also i wonder if square-enix even knows about this video as i assume they would have to get their permission.

also im sorry if this does not belong here but since it does deal with something gaming related i just thought some of you would want to see this.

I was forced to watch it with the sound off.

If the real thing is bad, someone should superimpose some Evanescence or something appropriate.

Otherwise, excellent costumes. The Tifa love rolls on.

Whoever made that sure did their homework on AC's cinematography. And I like Kpop, so I'll probably be able to deal with the music.

    Worst song ever? Quite possibly.

They get bonus points for using the only good scene in all of Advent Children, though.

    It was kinda neat.

But I prefer the original scene, which is kinda obvious, I guess.

By the way, the aspect ratio of that video is off.

    Here's one that's correct http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCNDKzZ7A-Q&mode=related&search=

Wow. They totally nailed the cinematography of the original, the wall-hang was done very well indeed too. Not sure about the music, as I couldn't tun it on at work.

I don't have the movie and youtube is pretty low res but it looks like they kinda have chunks of the movie in there. Been a long time since I've seen it though - could just be really well done I guess.

    Nah it's the same thing.

Really it looks kinda fake and cheesy, IMO. Overuse of digital flashiness... like your average photoshopped wallpaper with lensflares and filters. Ehhh. Maybe. Some things happen kinda fast and aren't exactly as fine-tuned as the AC scene is.

I like how the tone of the thread is totally set by the OP

This was linked on another forum I visit, with the OP mostly being about how much of a rip off it is, and they didnt get permission and though nobody would notice.

It's not a tribute or homage, its a uncreative shot for shot ripoff

I would hardly call it a "ripoff".

In any case, the whole thing was well done. Very seamless tribute. ;-)

It's one thing to pay homage to something with similar shots or settings, but I don't see the point of making a scene for scene remake. If you're not going to do something new and unique with it, you might as well cut in footage of the movie.

    Incredibly lame.

This was actually one of my favorite scenes in the movie, but partially because I loved the music from the actual scene.

Does Deusfaux really believe that the makers 'ripped them off' because they 'though nobody would notice', or is this one of those internet meta-meta-meta-humour things?

So hard to tell these days.

I'm not sure they genuinely thought nobody would notice, but they apparently did it so cheekily, as if they didnt expect there to be any kind of fallout.

As in, how could you expect to do a shot for shot rip and not have people call you on it (not to mention any possible repercussive legal aspects?).

    It just smacks of ignorance.

'Call them on it?' Are you high?

They did it so that people would be all 'Wow! Advent Children!', and then talk about it on the interwebs. As we are doing now.

Given Japan's attitude toward fandom and fan-created stuff like manga and games and whatnot, I don't think Square will mind too much. I know the video is Korean, but still.

I like how they pretty much removed anything from the fight that suggested there's any story outside of the conflict.

Marlene throwing rocks, the cell phone gone, Tifa actually winning, etc.

    Phantom piano, too.

I actually kind of like the song's beat.

I think it's a cool technical achievement, but, again, I just don't see the point.

If you have the skills and technology to capture an over the top action scene that will match that of a CG animated movie, you might as well go the whole way and choreograph a brand new, never before seen, that can stand on it's own. The song, nor the video, is related to Final Fantasy in any way, so it has no reason adhere to the scene.

It just bugs me that these people are taking this scene and using it to promote this dumb K-pop artist while the person that put all the creative effort into the piece, reportedly, gets nothing.

Well, really all it made me want to do is buy Advent Children since I've only seen it once and that was when I rented it.

Fuck. Actually, the more I think about it, I really want to see it again. Stupid saving disposable income for C&C3 >_<
