I never had any problems with them, but I also never ran AC in DX11 which, by all accounts, was/is seriously broken. They've otherwise placed more effort into the PC versions than a lot of other developers.
I had no idea the PC versions of the Arkham games had so many problems. That makes me nervous.
The games don't have any problems on PC. There is some stuttering on DX11, but you can turn it to Low or Off for pretty much zero graphical impact. Otherwise, it's smooth as butter.
Impulse pre-ordered last night while Green Man Gaming still had the discount. Spent some time today finally loading up Harley Quinn's Revenge today. Fun romp even if nothing of consequence happened.
Well, there was one thing that happened in HQR...
For some reason they decided to completely undo that "Harley is pregnant" plot point that they had set up in the main game.

Alternatively:
Harley was smarter than Bats gave her credit for, and staged the 'negative' tests after she suspected he may have seen the positive one.
She has managed to capture him and put him in traps that he couldn't escape on his own, so she can be prone to brighter moments.
My new PC runs AC without a hitch with everything turned way up, though I do wonder if all the slowdown in big fights is 'cinematic coolness' because at times the timing feels way weird.
What I have noticed upon replaying is how much easier the game is with kbam+mouse. It's far easier to do gliding/batarang challenges, and because of the wonky way enemies work (If they are off screen they can't melee you). It's sort of a shame because fighting is more comfortable with a controller (no way you are speedhitting combo buttons 1-12 on a PC without errors).Though the dodge move removes all difficulty anyway unless you want to set speed records.
Also the cheevos are so ridicilously hard to achieve that I forgot about that pretty fast. So much stuff to do.... (and system clocking for 1 if you truely care)
@morninglord do you have any tips for defeating Victor in game+ on hard? I'm tying to finish up my game+ before Origins and am stuck there. I'd welcome tips from anyone but Morninlord writes some of the best mechanic breakdowns I've read.
So both AA and AC receiving GFWL/Securom removal patches. Also, steam achievements and trading cards are being added. It looks like if you owned the base games before, you get the GOTY versions for free, and you can activate any non-Steam copies you owned on Steam for free now.
As if that weren't enough, both games are 75% off on Steam this weekend. This is how you market a sequel, people!
Holy shit, I guess I know what I'm playing this weekend.
I got AA GOTY and the regular AC on Steam. AA downloaded a patch, but AC didn't, so I'm guessing I should just install the AC GOTY that just got added for free? GOTY means it has all the DLC right? It was inconvenient installing the DLC CD keys for AC through that windows live app.

Yeah you need to install the AC GOTY separately. Only problem is, if you want to keep your saves, you need to check out the stickies and figure out a way to hack it. Also, you will lose all your achievements in the process.

Aw man I don't feel like messing with saves, but I'll keep a backup of them just in case. Haven't played it in a while so I'd probably just start a new game anyways. I just want install/run these games to ensure that GFWL/securom is truly gone so I can feel safe about deleting them when upgrading or freeing up space without worrying about install limits.
The speculative stuff in HQR was definitely solid, so I hope that isn't the end of that plot chain.
Honestly, the single best part of that DLC was being forced to fight some enemies that you can't read counters on. I was putting off playing New Game + since you lose that ability, but it looks like I've played enough to actually read enemy movements pretty well. Cause that was a fun change that I would happily use for the whole game.
I powered through Arkham Asylum this weekend, took me just over 10 hours and I got 75% completion. I'm not really willing to go the extra mile for 100% completion, so I think I'll just boot up Arkham City tonight. It's very possible I will 100% that game, but not sure. I know I'm going to be tempted to buy Arkham Origins and the XCOM expansion, but my wallet can't handle both

I found decently priced Arkham Origins NVIDIA keys on Ebay. Like...20-25 bucks?

I got my key that way, on the downside no pre-order bonus but on the upside it was $25 and I got a Steam key right away.
Does Gordon look like a muppet here to anyone else?
He looks like he has an extreme case of vitiligo.
But mostly all I see is that someone is playing the game with a mouse and keyboard...the horror.
I'm playing them with mouse and keyboard. My only complaint is it makes some of the Augmented Reality training missions extra super difficult. Everything else works great.
What are the chances of a next-gen GOTY edition of Origins in 8-10 months?
I honestly cannot justify a purchase of this right now, given how close we are to next gen, and add the fact that I still haven't finished GTA5. I just have too many reservations about this game for it to be a day 1 purchase.
My list of reservations:
--Multiplayer is not needed in every franchise ever. Resources that could have been invested in the singleplayer have instead been invested into an MP mode that is most likely going to be mediocre at best, and most likely awful
--Not made by Rocksteady
--Combat system has been altered so that WB Montreal can put "their own spin on it." They have said that they want this to feel like their game, and not just a Rocksteady clone. That frightens me.
--No Kevin Conroy
--Sequel-itis. WB seems to have decided to milk the Arkham franchise. I don't need a new Batman every year. There's no way they can keep the quality up.
--Did I mention multiplayer? Because goddamn that scares me. Fastest way to drive me away from a beloved singleplayer franchise is to announce the inclusion of an unnecessary multiplayer mode.

Luckily, it seems multiplayer was done by different studio than WB Montreal, it is done by Splash Damage.
It's been 2 years between games. 2009 for AA, 2011 for AC. That is a nice interval between titles if you ask me. I think 2-3 is pretty ideal. Enough where I don't feel they are coming too fast, long enough to make me salivate for a new entry.

I can turn that off and turn off other things like AA and AO and I still get bad stuttering issues.

I am perfectly ok with Friday releases. Get to sit down and play without pesky work getting in the way for a couple of days.

I'm so pumped for this. AA and AC are two of my favorite games from the past several years.
