I think getting slaughtered will be good for us. Best example I can give is Eve... when I first started (TKH, I think you were one of the people around when I started... good old days back in Hosh), I was terrified of dying. Once I got that out of my system, the game was fun (I stopped being terrified and started learning how to play, exploring, having fun, etc, etc). The wangs need to go out and die horribly to get that out of our system (imho).
Oh yes I definitely was around, I founded the merch and also later merch industrial, of course by the time mrchi came about I was already a dirty filthy pirate

What happens to your items if the extra bag/inventory slots from those bags that expire... expire?
This is a good question that needs to be answered.
Also, we figured out how kinda break the profanity filter in guild chat... that was fun.
Basically once the bag expires those slots lock. You can no-longer put new items into those slots, but you can remove old items. So basically once the bag expires, you remove the items from the newly locked slots and then de-equip the expired bag.
So I think I went through and grabbed everyone's in game name and made a list for everyone, lets try to add to the list and see if we can get everyone friended.
Apologies if I missed you as I am slightly intoxicated at this point.
If there is still space, I'd love to join. I'm Grimnir in Wushu as well and on BlueDragon server. I've been playing for a couple days now after seeing the OP.
So, got in on the last 2 runs some Wangs were making. Someone got a flying skill and I got a healy, herbalism thing. It was fun (we should do those more).
For the people wanting to get in, can anyone in the guild invite (I mean, once we match up their in-game name with their PA name) or can only the leaders/higher-ups do that? I do know that you (the applicant) have to be online when whoever invites you (or accepts your application or whatever) is as well. Bah... I'll let whoever is in charge worry about this. I do think the more, the merrier, though.
I was messing around looking at the guild tab thingy, and one thing I noticed was it talked about doing guild escort missions (escorting the caravan things). Would folks be interested in trying those out some time? It looks like the guild gets some sort of reward for those, I'd imagine we'd get something as well, plus it might give us the opportunity to get killed horribly (or maybe kill them instead) by other players.

Running guild carts gets the guild like 120L I think?
I know! (That's kind of the point of the entire game, isn't it?)
I had heard that starting out it's best to try it in a less crowded town... and something about picking the quickest caravan option (apparently there are options like that). I don't know... I'm just trying to think of things to do and what the game can offer.

I ran my escort in the Imeprial City. Hardly anyone there. Super easy.
Made a new character to act as a chef, tossed her in Emei school.
Are the Steamed buns the food with the highest nutrition value? Nothing on the recipe list looks like it's any better. I plan to make as many as I can, so I'll try to get some to anyone who's in danger of starving.
I want to play this but have no idea which school to pick. There's no real genre conventions that I can draw from when picking. I generally play Warrior if that helps. I don't like being too squishy. The only martial art I've really gotten into heavily was Tai Chi... and I play as Xianghua in Soul Calibur lol. I figure maybe Emei then since I typically pick the female fighter (fast/nimble) in fighting games and that's kind of how I'm identifying with this game.
Are any of the schools really considered underpowered in PvP? Which would be considered the "fastest"? I don't want to play as the class with crappiest CC. I want to be able to gank.
When you start the game eventually you'll be told to choose a martial arts school, the npc that sends you to whichever school you choose will give you some good information on what each school is like and what their three main martial arts categories are like.
I don't think any school is really underpowered in PvP, at least I haven't heard any problems so far. Each school generally has some kind of skill they're well known for. I know that scholars get a 5 second aoe whirlwind move in one of their styles that is immune to cc and royal guards get a chain that lets them death grip. I think shaolin get an aoe knockback of some kind from what I've heard?
If you want to gank though, Royal Guards seems to be a good choice since their death grip move is pretty annoying and I don't think you get any penalties from ganking people like you do with any of the 'good' schools

Well, that sucked. We had a group of Wangsmen all run through Twilight Village up to the final boss. Took us a good 2 or 3 hours. Then it lagged to shit when we're looking at the boss, having trouble even targetting him.
Yah.. I loved those mini-instances we did earlier... That TV place, not so much. I don't think I want to go back there until I (and everyone else) is over-leveled for the place.
Well, I really think half of it was not knowing what the hell we were doing. That first boss was a pain until we realized that he got that stacking buff. I think he'd be a pushover if everyone was more careful of spamming feints and using attacks when his guard was down. I got to the point where I was only doing my bigger combos when he was charging an attack.
Still, even if we were to go in again, better prepared with knowledge... that shit would still take at least an hour and a half. Got some really nice rewards, regardless.
Naw, wasn't that bad. While it was a frustrating experience (most likely due to our lack of... errr... experience... in running AoW instances), it was also quite a bit of fun. The kung-fu shit talking by the NPC's was highly entertaining as well.
Seriously, a bit of knowledge of what to expect, along with some planning, will do wonders for dealing with the frustrations we faced. On the other hand, the very first part could be sped up a bit. You'd think those villagers would be a bit more interested in getting the hell out of the burning village.
Alright... Fine... It wasn't that bad (it was kinda fun dying horrible and trying something new). I think what I didn't like was I was thinking it would be an hour, tops. Not the 3-3.5 that we were in there. I was up way past my bedtime, as it were, and lack of sleep makes me cranky.
Still...trying to figure out how much I enjoy this, Definitely interesting and new, but I am hopinh I'm missing something about travel, because right now, it looks liek you can easily spend 45 minutes on travel for a school spy mission, pick up a couple pieces, get seen and killed, and have absolutely nothing to show for your work. That huuuuuurts.

Spy missions usually take around 15 minutes for me, assuming I'm completing it. Your school's leader can teleport you directly to the spy master outside of whichever school 20 times a week. You're moved to a random location in the zone once you accept the mission from the spy master, which may be right by the area you're spying, or near the edge of the map. You're primary pickpocket ability has a one minute cool down, and seems to fail about 10-20% of the time. You don't need to gather all ten pieces of information, but you get 5 liang per piece.
If you're being tracked early on, just drop the quest and pick it back up from the spy master to start over. If someone starts following you when you're almost done, just teleport back to your school and turn in whatever you've got.
The ability that allows you to get 3 pieces of information, I only use when my cover is almost/already blown. Since it gives puts you all the way at 100 if it fails, it's not a big deal gaining another 20 or 30 points. The stun sucks, though... so only use it in a secluded area.

It's OK, Darmak mispulled, we all died and failed the instance anyway.
you, Darmak.

PSN = PessimistMaximus
I'm just gonna find a quite corner and Tai-chi in it.
You'll probably get attacked, though.

The cap for us is currently 200 so I think we'll be fine. :P

I did the exact same thing last night. Emei/Chef.

I am in the same boat as rpshoggoth, not really sure if I like this game yet, but it is intriguing.
Spicy Rectum Noodle Soup
The same recipe produced a pair of pants with 5 more defense on them than yesterday.
