I thought I'd just play a few rounds of ME3 multiplayer but I hadn't realised my xbox live subscription had ended and its not worth renewing just for mass effect

might pick it up on pc but I'm not sure if I can cope with starting from scratch again

thats your punishment for buying it on the inferior platform to begin with

Unboxed the venom shotgun, so I can finally finish up Reckoning mastery. Thus far I've not been terribly impressed with it in the one match I've run with it, though a lot of that may have been that it wasn't the best host. Felt like the thing had basically no AoE to its shots.

Keep in mind you can charge it up. I knocked the entire thing out soloing Bronze games and didn't even realize I could charge it until about wave 9 of the last solo game. That suuucked.

Oh, I know it can charge, it feels like the only way to reliably hit stuff with it is to charge and aim at the ground in front of things.

Yeah I really want to like the gun because it's such a unique snowflake, but off-host with the slightest lag it's just extremely frustrating to use. Aim at an enemy, and the projectile will fly straight through it. Aim at the ground or a wall, and the explodey bits will just bounce off in completely random and insane directions. One reason to use the gun on a Fembot is that at least you can rely on her powerful melee after she inevitably fails to hit the approaching mooks.

Oh god the plinking noise of an uncharged shot, just never liked it. If I'm being honest the reasons why I was never that big on the GPS during its run were the lag issues and the fact that the Claymore was just better, but the sound of the gun itself played a (small) part as well.

Up in the right hand corner of all threads is the little bookmark symbol. If a thread is bookmarked, then the symbol is "pulled down", you just click on it and it lifts up and the thread is unbookmarked.

Alternatively you can go to 'all bookmarks' and see all the threads you are following, and find the bookmark symbol to the far right of all those threads. Clicking the symbol there will also unbookmark a thread.

Yes, go to your bookmarks, or the forum where the thread lives, or inside the thread itself, and click on the bookmark deal, it should retract.

Woo, Krogan warlord get, time for hammer smashy times.

That being said, is it like talon merc where you wanna stack on all the melee boosts you can, or should I spec my tech armor for powers because that's where the meat of the hammer damage comes from?

Prioritize melee damage because its the foundation for most of your damage. Don't forget that his storm attack (krogan backhand), his light melee (headbutt), and the second hit from his melee combo all are melee damage only. Some people choose to skip Tech Hammer to prioritize biotic hammer - in which case you can pick some power options in your tree and pick appropriate mods. I split between tech and biotic hammer - keep tech up to oneshot mooks and do AOE damage.

I have the frozen debuff on it (which reduces armor), so against a boss character I'll hit with a tech hammer blast to set up the debuff, activate biotic hammer and cancel it into his 3 hit melee combo. That's usually enough to take out a Geth Prime solo.

I like this definition of URs, because I like the idea of interesting guns. But I also hope that the ME4 multi team narrows down the range of available weapons and focuses on having a good balance and variety between them.

Shotguns are a great example. Claymore, Piranha, Crusader, GPS, and Reegar are each fantastic in their own right, and they all have very different play styles that encourage different tactics (reload cancelling, taking advantage of soft cover to charge, sniping, etc.)

The counter-example would of course have to be SMG's. There is absolutely no reason to use any SMG besides the Hurricane, unless you are using ULM to maximize cooldowns. And even then, you're better off with an Eagle or an Acolyte.

I love this game, I just hope they have a better budget for balance next time around. :\

How many hours do you people have? I think I'm at like 80 including single player. But I am also nowhere near having everything unlocked or even having all of the upgrades/weapons/characters. But then I also have no need for a lot of the fancy new stuff. I'm still waiting for a Black Widow in addition to my 7 different unlocked infiltrator classes and 8 infiltrator promotions.

I also feel like I should be good with the alliance infiltrator unit or drell assassin, but the quarian is more fun to play versus geth and the human and salarian have bonuses I like using. AIU seems all shotgun-focused and I already have plenty of classes using shotguns.

The thing that makes the AIU great is the massive shotgun damage (more than any other class, I think) and the fact that it's nearly invincible thanks to repair matrix.

Wait, was Virmire Survivor completely justified in paranoing about evil fake-Sheps?

I love to at least look at the planets in each game, the flavor text is so awesome and it adds a lot of mystery to the universe.

Like the planet that exploded. Following the light cone, the saw some kind of huge gravitational lensing just before the explosion and one theory is some kind of genetically modified krogan super-biotic.

Or the planet that has some kind of lights that disappear when a ship gets near it, implying that they are aware of what happens in the space around their planet.

And the gas giant that might be some kind of super computer.

    There are plenty more too.

I think we need some more Trekking.
