I'm not very good at it, on MP, i mean, especially since i don't have fancy guns or even upgraded common guns, but i'm getting better every game...
I'm kinda kicking myself for not jumping on the Mass Effect bandwagon earlier... Had i done so, i might've been able to partake in the challenge things?
Oh well, the game is still fun and that's what counts, right?
Fancy guns aren't required for the majority of classes.
Human adept, sentinel and engineer will all serve you well once you learn explosions (hint, hit with one spell, then another DIFFERENT spell will work most of the time).
Also are you on PC? Because we have a uhm... present for you :bz
Oh, yeah, sorry.
I'm The21stCentury on Origin.
Just so you know, for approximately half of the map, you were standing still.

What, when I could neither shoot, use powers or melee attacks? Turns out i wasn't moving either?

doesn't surprise me.
maybe you can try communicating that you're having a problem in the game or via chat?
maybe you (fencing) could ask him why he was doing that privately?
just a suggestion.

I did communicate that my powers weren't hitting, that i couldn't get more ammo, that I couldn't climb ladders and finally that i couldn't do any for of damage, through the voice chat.
Someone responmded to me, telling me it was a pernicious bug or something, so i assume it got through?
Plus, me and Fencing aren't on each others' friends list... yet... *wink*

I had the exact same issue when I jumped into my first game. My shots seemed like they were hitting, but I couldn't grab ammo or climb ladders or do anything useful.

I have had that sort of lag/desync behavior occasionally. Lately it has even happened when I am the "host", was on my level 1 human vanguard and dying because I wasn't hitting mobs and recharging my shield.
Promoted everyone but soldiers last night and then ran some bronze just to get some levels and work on medals. After breezing through silver and doing mediocre on gold, bronze just seems to pose no challenge. I was soloing with my level one characters until the pubs added. The nice thing was getting more revive medals from them.

It's made as clear as it was in ME2. You can't possibly miss it.

It's the little things that make the multiplayer fun. Like giving a class the final promotion you're planning to, then getting an XP card for that class right away.
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

Another vote for "Do it after the game". The ending is... I mean I didn't scream "I WANT THOSE HOURS OF MY LIFE BACK!" like I've done with some games I won't mention, but it only barely crossed the bar into "satisfying".
Picking up and doing the Citadel story after, however, was immensely satisfying. But as has been said, it's absolutely nothing like the entire endgame.

I've heard a lot of bad things about the ending, but i feel it can't be lazier than the one for Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
Plus, it's not the destination that matters, but the journey and I am enjoying the journey immensely. It would need a hell of a terrible, terrible ending to truly spoil that.
I'll still do Citadel before the ending... If the ending is that bad, it might make me want to not play the game anymore...

It's not that bad anymore. Honestly. But it's not (in my opinion) a good note to end on. I played it through, and... It was okay. The Extended Cut and Leviathan really really did help things.
However, Citadel is FUN. Unambiguous fun, and a very enjoyable finish to the SP experience of the trilogy. Also, in terms of gameplay alone, it's just great. Good enemies, difficulty, etc.

Okay, I have another question, regarding the Multiplayer component.
I noticed that all the "characters" from one class share the same XP Bar...
So let's say I have a Male and a female human vanguard... If I promote it, all the vanguards will reset to level 1, right?

Hey all, I have a friend from work who just started playing multiplayer, and I'll be playing some games with him the first time this weekend. Anyone up for dragging a newbie through gold?

We'll both be on late night saturday and prob sunday afternoon. If I don't get PAers I'll probably just do silvers with him though, I'm not confident I can drag someone through gold when the other people are pugs.
Nights are iffy for me right now but I should be able to make Sunday afternoon without issue. Unless I forget to sign on.
Pray for not-collectors. Collectors gold is not something a new player should be made to endure.
I'm quite new at this game as well...
What's so bad about Collectors on Gold that make them harder than the other enemies?
is it the possession mechanic? Is that even worse on Gold?
Yeah, Possessed troops are a pain in the ass, especially Scions and Abominations. Seeker Swarms are also incredibly annoying when playing a class relying on powers.

Have you installed all the multiplayer DLC?
If you have, try restarting Origin, sometimes I get that bug even when I do have the Dlc installed

I juat reached the point where I can do it... Is there a best time to do it and do I have to do it next time I hit the Citadel?

Like the rest of the DLC, you have to do it before starting the final mission (you'll know it when you see it).
I like doing it after (yes, AFTER) completing the game. Some people like doing it right away.
I'm not sure you'll want to right before completing the game, since the change in tone and writing is incredibly jarring--in both directions.
The story-based missions can be done whenever, but I recommend holding off on the celebratory mission until right before the end=game.

I'll wait, then!
is it made clear when the final mission is? Like, is it made really clear?

possession, brutal boss enemies, absurdly high damage mid-tier units, the swarms are a pain in the ass for powers classes
even the husk unit can cause a ton of shit
but map choice is CRUCIAL
anyway i'll be on during the weekend to carry etc.
