I'm interested in a full set as well. I assume you'll post when we can order?
Of course silly! :-)
Ok so Q-Workshop sent me back a REALLY cool 3D mockup of the dice design I sent them.
They weren't able to do the exact design we had in mind but it still looks cool in my opinion.
Here it is:
Yes, I know it's the wrong colour, dont' worry, I will get them to change it before we finalize.
Sit tight guys, the other dice designs should be done by Monday.
I don't know if the die shop noticed in the mock up, but each opposite side of the D6 die is sposed to equal 7. These don't.
- Biting's excellent! It's like kissing. Only there's a winner.

Yeah It would be good if they stick to the opposite sides equaling 7.
But aside from that it looks awesome!
Although how will they translate the Dpad pattern to other sized dice if theyre doing that on the corners instead of the center edges?
Holy Moly! These look amazing! Can't wait to get my hands on them so they can devastate adventurers muahahaha!

@Serenity those D6 look so freakin good. I really want to just get a bunch of those to throw down with many board games (rather than an RPG set, since I don't play much any more).

I sort of agree but we've already done voting and the majority has chosen to do a RPG set.
Maybe next year!

so can we get to the actual ordering part this seems like we're spinning our wheels and i thought you were going to have the full mock ups on monday... it's thursday now what's the status on when we can order?

You might want to be a little more patient for something that someone else is working on in their spare time for you. In fact, if you read through the last page or so of the thread, there was question on whether or not there would be ordering before or after pax.

Yeah it's taking a bit longer because of coordination with the manufacturer in Poland.
I am in Canada so the time difference usually means we only get 1 email correspondence in per day.
If you must know though Draklan, the designs were done on Monday as promised now it's just waiting for the designers over at Q-Workshop to send me the 3D renders back to show off.
Once those are confirmed, ordering will go up.
Until then, I am going to re-iterate zerzhul's point and say be patient please. :-)
Ok so while we wait for Q-Workshop, I think we should figure out a couple other things regarding shipping and order quantity.
There are 2 points we need to consider: Problem #1. Q-workshop has just informed me that the minimum order for dice sets is 100. I have no idea whether we can reach this number of orders or not but I do know that if we don't, I cannot afford to pay for the remainder of dice not ordered (i.e if I only get orders for 80 dice sets, I can't pay for the remaining dice needed to complete the order)
Problem #2. Shipping from Canada is a lot more expensive that I thought it would be.
I could calculate exact shipping for each individual but that would create a LOT of work for me.
Instead I was planning on doing flate rate envelopes for US/Canada and exceptions for other countries.
The flate rates would be about: $20 within Canada and $30 to US
This may not necessarily be a problem but I need to know if people would be willing to spend this much on shipping.
If it is a problem, we'll have to find an alternate solution.
Solutions to #1: I could put up a 'makeshift' form where people can pre-order dice sets (no money would be collected) so I can get a ballpark number of expected orders.
If we don't get 100 orders for sets, we'll have to fall back to something like a set of 6 dice. Q-workshop's limit for those is 50 which is lot more doable.
I know there was a vote on dice format so I do apologize, but I was not previously aware of this limitation. We may end up having to go with a set of D6s
This solution could feed into solution #2 as well
Solutions to #2: I ship it from the US where flat rates would be about $6 to US and $15 to Canada (I can't believe it's cheaper to send something TO Canada from OUTSIDE Canada than it is to ship inside, sheesh)
This would require a US forumer willing to help with shipping - preferably close to the border so it's not a long trek for me.
Solution #1 feeds into this solution with the fact that I could send invoices to those who pre-ordered as well as calculate exact shipping for each order which may cut down on shipping costs a bit (although I would like to avoid calculating shipping manually)
Please let me know what you think.
Sorry for all the roadblocks but it's to be expected with a 1st year event like this. I've learned a lot from doing this and the system will be much improved for next year.
Thanks for everyone's patience and I do appreciate your feedback. After all, this is for the community so the opinions of the community count.
If I was you, I would take delivery in and ship from the US. If you can find a volunteer to help out, or use a shipping service, like Hagen's of Blaine, that would be the best bet.
Shipping charges will be easier to swallow, and you won't be moving a huge lot of retail materials across the border, saving you some uncomfortable questions/getting pulled in at the border.
It will also probably raise the number of orders you get, as the Canadian shipping quotes will probably be a deal breaker for many.
Speaking personally, I'm in for a set but dice + $30 in shipping would be a deal breaker for me. I hate to say it given how awesome the dice are looking, but that's a steeper bill than I'd be willing to cover for some fun dice.

Yea I would have to agree, the $30 shipping would kill it for me to. Serenity, thank you for coordinating all this. If I hadn't already committed most of my free time to coaching this summer I would have volunteered to help ship them.
Oh the great white north. Don't get me wrong I love my country but shipping fees here are rough. @serenity thanks for doing all of this, but the heavy fees might be too much for me for dice. Your still awesome though.
If we can find someone in the states near the boarder I'm still on for this. But yeah, $30 shipping is a huge deal breaker for me. I've got some massive IRL bills that just sprung up and am pinching money just to finishing paying for my room for pax.

Ok as I suspected...
Thanks for the suggestion regarding US shipping.
Just to clarify, this doesn't mean dice aren't happening but it's clear that Canadian shipping will be too much for mostly everyone
I'll see what I can get figured out regarding US shipping. If I can get that sorted out,, it's still a go!
Second thing we might want to consider is just doing a set of 4 D6s instead of the original RPG set.
This would cut down the cost quite a bit and help with the higher shipping (especially to send from the US to Canada)
It might even cut down on manufacturing time which could mean we get the dice before PAX?
PS. @jadensmith yeah we get raped on a lot of $$ things up here. I love Canada but not that part of it.
Having the dice will be cool, no matter what type.
But I prefer the D20 set. I play in a D&D group and my charie doesn't use a D6. So for bragging rights I prefer the D20 set.

Hey Serentiy shipping from the US is fine and i would be fine with any custom dice i don't necessarily need a full RPG set so whatever we go with is fine. I ask only to be kept up to date semi regularly. you're doing a great job so far. keep up the good work.
I'd rather have an RPG set than d6's, but I'd rather have some awesome d6's than nothing. I've got no problems going to the d6 set if it means that it happens.
Serenity, re the dice issues, as much as I would love a full RPG set, if doing a set of D6's is more economically viable, I'm happy enough with just those here, esp as the design for them looks amazing!
So how much would an RPG set cost and how much would x number of d6 cost?
The RPG set would be $20/set
A single D6 would be $4/dice - multiply that by how many you want.
At those prices, I would much rather have the RPG set. But, I'd rather have a D6 than nothing... so I understand if the RPG set isn't feasible anymore.
I'd still prefer the full RPG set. Canadian shipping is insane - I think US arrangements definitely need to be made. I know we have a lot of forumers in Seattle - I'm sure we could line someone up for this . . .
