I think they mean damage reduction that is not readily visible. Like Shields on the health bar. Sure there is an effect to the ability, every ability has an effect of some sort.

Second was Kass mid, opponent - Talon. This guy is a puppy kicker. Asked to switch lanes with our Voli top, he refused. Died twice was at 70cs at 40 mins when the game ended. Got a few good ganks on bot, but overall a failure.

So it needs some sort of visible effect on Poppy as well to make it obvious it's a defense power, maybe something like Kayle's bubble? I could see that.
Poppy's ult is one of the most peculiar abilities in the game to my reckoning, though, it'd be kind of a shame if they replaced it with Yet Another Shield.
While changing the speed of light is something Google really want to do I think it is beyond even them.

Yeah, Talon is probably the worst lane in the game for Kassadin. Any AD champs can wreck Kass, but Talon does it worse than anybody else. You get nothing out of his passive against people who don't deal magic damage, and his passive is part of what makes him so strong. You should really never first pick Kassadin, just because he's really only valuable on SR as a counter pick to AP mids, and even then, if they're strong pushers pre 6 they can bully him.
eh it worked. every team fight either he or xin would just push down a lane toward the end of the game. then we would end up with just one person up and unable to do as much turret damage as they did.
it didn't help that the whole team was ragging on varus the entire time.
