Also, I notice Q.U.B.E. has some DLC now available. I liked Q.U.B.E., even though it was short, but this DLC is like over 50% the price of the core game, even when you factor in that it's on sale.
I liked Q.U.B.E. too but this DLC seems to add a bunch of stuff I don't exactly like in puzzle games like time trials, precision and quick reaction puzzles so I think I'll pass on this one.

Do I need to own Farcry 3 already to get blood dragon?
Cause Farcry 3 didn't interest me that much, but blood dragon sure as shit does.
Also, any impressions on StarDrive? My brother's were pretty middling, but 4X is music to my started-PC-gaming-in-the-DOS-era ears.
Blood Dragon is stand alone
But also Far Cry 3 is fucking incredible and should be bought anyway
I have a lot of other games to play! Blood Dragon sounds mindless and short, so it'd be something I could look at for the near future. I try to switch genres pretty drastically when I go from game to game, so going from Dark Souls to FPS would probably do that trick, and it sounds like it has a shitload of humor condensed in it.

See I actually feel like Blood Dragon should have taken itself more seriously, in a way.
Like all the really good B movies were trying really hard, too hard in fact, to be good. That's what makes them great.
Like, that's why Evil Dead is such an awesome comedy. Because it's trying so hard to be a horror movie and it just crosses over into funny. If they were doing the self aware wink and nod thing it would flat out not work whatsoever.
Edit: I should like to point out that not only have I never beat the main quest for Skyrim but I have never gotten further than the first quest after going up the mountain to meet the old dudes for the first time.
All Elder Scrolls Games follow the exact same pattern with me:
Step 1: Finish forced starter/tutorial quest
Step 2: Get bread crumb trail to first plot quest
Step 3: ????
Step 4: Randomly wander back into the beginning town/area several in game years later wielding the power of the gods
Step 5: Get thanked for quickly coming to their aid
Step 6: Complete Quest, and get bread crumb trail to second plot quest
Step 7: Snowflake becomes blizzard, see Step 3
After playing these games for so long, I can feel when my interest is starting to falter a bit. At that point, I rush back to the main plot line and finish it up to complete the game before apathy sets in and I put the game down.
I'm the same way when it comes to sandbox games. In Fallout 3 I was Death, Destroyer of Worlds by the time I wandered into Megaton, and I had become an unstoppable, unkillable, God King among Men by the time I met Three Dog for the first time. Even a game with very little combat or leveling like Shadow of the Colossus took me forever to beat just because I loved to just run around and check stuff out.
I would seriously play an entire game where all you do is wander around and explore a huge environment filled with interesting things to look at.
In terms of completion I am seriously slacking this year. I think I am going to start on one of the AvP games and see if I can stick to roughly alphabetical.
1. You guys are horrible enablers and I love you for it. I just bought Prime World: Defenders and am picking up a wallet card tomorrow for gifting.

Also, we doing the finished game thing? Because I have fully completed Alan Wake now! All the DLC is done and I can uninstall that game. American Nightmare will have to wait til I've played something else as I'm a little burned out on Wake right now.
What do we think about Krater? It's $3.75 on gamersgate looks like.
I played it for like 15 minutes a while back (last summer maybe?). I don't recall that it was bad or anything but it totally failed to grab my attention before something else distracted me. Of course, that's not exactly hard to oh look shiny!
This was my reaction to it as well, though I put 2 hours in.
It just completely failed to grab me.

Guys, thanks for the saber toggles for Dark Forces 3 & 4, but what about new maps for multi/duels?
HL Episode One. It's short and good, and you're one step closer to knowing what the hubbub is about Episode 3. Those other games are all easy 15 hour investments, while Episode One should only take 3 or 4.
You'd better play Episode 1 before Episode 3 comes out.
I figure I still have a lifetime to wait?
Yeah, feel free to get excited now. You can get in just under the bar for when Valve finally releases Episode 3 in 2050. Close, but you'll make it.
But honestly, I personally don't see how anybody could be interested in Episode 3 at this point. Valve clearly doesn't have much interest in resolving that whole thing anytime soon, so why would anybody bother waiting for it?
The whole episodic content idea was pretty stupid anyway.

I will probably also finally get around to finishing HL2 and the episodes when Episode 3 is finally actually realized. There's just so many zombies and headcrabs...and boats.
Speaking of zombies, am I going to have to fight these sand zombies through all of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time? It is excruciatingly tedious.

Nah, episodic is awesome.
It's just that it doesn't mesh with Valve-time in any way.
Yeah, play Ep1. The Alyx companionship is in many ways a prototype for Bioshock Infinite's Elizabeth, and her writing and voice acting was incredibly engaging.
Plus that one part. You all know what I'm talking about.
I don't think Valve is interested in continuing the Half Life story. It's a good thing I never really got invested in the Half Life story and just took each one as a cool tech demo type thing.

See, I loved Blood Dragon, but I don't think I could get into a game using it's engine that's 3x as long and takes itself seriously.

This. I enjoy it, when I can get it to run. Half the time it just crashes out instantly. I'd love them to fix it, but it's not gonna happen.
What should I play next?
Darksiders II
HL: Episode One
Saints Row 3
BioShock 2
Or some other game? I'm at an impasse!

Also, because I have good feeling we'll get a concrete piece of news this year. It's entirely over-optimistic, but dammit, I gotta have SOME hope.
