I don't know how long it actually took to sell out, but between kiko's tweet announcing that it was up and the first tweet I saw saying it was sold out was maybe 200 seconds

It took about 30 minutes for 4 day passes to sell out.
...which means I've been waiting in this queue for almost an hour. :bz
I guess I don't really care that much, since I usually spend most of my time outside of PAX hanging out and drinking. Still, I would prefer to get a pass for one day.
a lottery system for three/four day passes would be cool
khooler would be khoo giving us like a five minute head start, but I guess that's not really fair
for the SD Comic Con, they require you to register for an account in advance of the actual sale day. then they announce, also in advance, when passes will go on sale.
on the day of sale, there's an online queue similar to the one PAX is using. but at least most people are on notice and have a decent shot at getting 4 day passes or at least single day ones.
i'd say that this is the fairest thing PAX could do and still allow everyone an even shot at getting passes.
maybe also institute an official policy disallowing scalped tickets, but i'm unsure how that would even work.
i have no idea how many days i want to go.
last year we did 1 day and it was too little. we missed a lot, didn't get to see ANY panels.
2, maybe?
but i'd want to see the panels first to know which 2 days.
auuughh. augh! first world problems all the way down.
They really need to switch to a lottery system or something
There's what, a few hundred truly active forumers per forum?
With 70,000 total attendees and not every forumer attending every pax, it seems like they could give early purchase access to the most dedicated parts of the community.

I'd really like it if they made tickets available for forumers...but I can see issues involved in doing that, too.
It's really unfortunate because I haven't had the money to attend a PAX since '08 and I've been looking forward to going to one again some day.

Apparently 4-days are showing up on eBay already for ~$400.

That kinda goes against what Jerry and Mike feel about PAX though so it won't happen.

Many, many forumers buy multiple passes to provide for friends who may not be able to get their own in time, so I dunno how well that would work out in terms of cutting down on super fast sellout
Ah shit, the background polls are starting to get 504 Timeout errors for me - I hope their queueing system is robust enough to let people keep their place in the queue through a refresh.

Good to know! That means I didn't lose my spot :bz
Oh, the messages just changed to 'Thank you for your patience. Tickets are still available and being purchased. If you receive an error on this page, refresh the page once. You will retain your place in line.', so I guess it is.
just got a 504 Gateway Time-out from the Robert Queue.
weeeeeeelp.

A forum announcement at the same time as the tweet would be nice though
Hmm. I can't remember whether I refreshed the queue page when I got a 504. I think I closed the tab and opened a new one instead. I wonder if it remembers your place in line if you do that. Hopefully it's session-based or something.

While PAX was the place where I got my first job in the industry and I'm kinda bummed I will have less of a chance of that happening again without a 4 day pass. Last year's PAX was so goddamn incredible for me (what with Guild Wars 2 launching and seeing so many people and had an all around amazing launch party/weekend) that I'm not too bummed.
