Suggestion: Revoke Tickets from Scalpers

Raptor007Raptor007 Seattle, WA, USARegistered User regular
It's pretty frustrating to hear that the 4-day passes sold out within the first hour while I've been stuck in this queue. Even worse, someone on Reddit was scalping 8 of them for $300 each. I wonder how many more of the passes were just gobbled up for a gouged resale? I think if pics of tickets for sale at exorbitant prices go up, those ticket IDs should go back into the pool at the regular price and the scalper refunded.

I agree, but I think the scalper should not be refunded

The fact he was able to get 8 of them at once is pretty ridiculous

There's one up on eBay for $350. The question is, how do you find out which badge has been scalped? I guess people could volunteer that info when they arrive at PAX, they could have their badge scanned, and the scalper could permanently be blocked, but that relies upon people to volunteer that info.

PAX Prime to do list: Tickets: [X] Hotel: [X] Flight: [X] HQ: [X] Nachos: [] Cookies: []
PAX South to do list: Tickets: [X] Hotel: [X] Flight: [X] HQ: [X] BBQ: [] Cookies: []

Seriously! Why are they selling them in bulk? That's only going to benefit scalpers.

    Here's a suggestion for PAX...

Require names to be submitted with registration, for each ticket.
Then, either have people pick up tickets "in person" at PAX and have to show ID, or have them email/fax copy of ID to get tickets mailed out.

Additionally, those people that bought the badge from the scalper would likely want the scalpers to stay around, so that they can rely on them next time they need (or don't get) badges.

This has been only getting worse as the years have gone by. The value of the tickets have gone up in the eyes of scalpers. Seriously when one guy can get 8 tickets and hundreds of others can maybe get 1, this is stupid.

Since they don't have the physical passes yet, you can report their auctions to eBay as Listing Issues > Other Listing Issues > Digitally Delivered Goods.

I don't get it, with the con getting as big as it has gotten in the last few years you think they would put up a counter-measure up in place, like how SD comic-con does it. It just bull that people know they can purchase as many tickets as they want and abuse people cause they know they can mark up the price on the ticket as much as they want and Con-goers will dish out the money, I mean honestly the experience is worth an unimaginable more.

I live in Seattle and it's just sad to know that an immense number of people are missing out on a great con and experience just because tons of people are buying up extra tickets just to extort people to buy them back at a black market price.

There's already a thread for registration. Also, they already do analyze transactions and revoke obvious resellers. Any info you think you have is 100% conjecture.
