The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
On an Epson Stylus Photo R3000 printer for my photography. It has an ultra cool pigment inkset that is archival quality, with some ink and paper combinations lasting well over 100 years. In particular, the inkset itself has several levels of black and grey inks to produce truly neutral black and white prints which I am particularly excited for. Best of all, there is a rebate right now, bringing it down to an "economical" $650 instead of $799. Check out the promo video because they make it look like some military specced printer. Oh yeah.
With an extra set of ink, some paper, the total came out to just shy of a grand. It was either this or a new camera body which I am in no hurry about since my badass lenses are giving my relatively basic camera an incredibly lengthy life span.
So SE++, what are some awesome/expensive things you recently bought? Share with me your budget burning buys!
It was to pay for the ER visit I had to make when the hole left by a recently extracted wisdom tooth got massively infected, misdiagnosed by a dentist as dry socket, and swelled up to the point where I couldn't swallow my own saliva and almsot couldn't breath at 3 am.
Does... does that count as something expensive I bought? I mean, I DID get opiates out of it. I understand why people do heroin now at least, because that shit they gave me was awesome.
Before following any advice, opinions, or thoughts I may have expressed in the above post, be warned: I found Keven Costners "Waterworld" to be a very entertaining film.

Holy fuck. Glad you didn't die. I too had an ER visit that took me nearly two years to pay off. Collapsing on stage and waking up in a hospital bed is not fun, yo.
I have maybe $3 grand in credit cards and maybe $15-17 grand in student loans.
It isn't great, but my credit score is fairly good and I am still purchasing camera gear left and right while paying down my debts when and where I can. $100 here, $200 there.
DotB helped with a ~$1300 computer build and my parts are being delivered today and I'm excited. I don't think I've actually used a "good" computer... ever?

See, I have so much shit I need to get to truly have my own workflow locked down.
Thinking about building a new home PC, some for gaming but also photo editing and such. ~$2000 with monitors and such.
I also need a refillable ink cartridges and bulk inks so I don't get raped by OEM inks $250.
The body of my camera is a little older than I'd like it to be. It's also an entry level camera but with pro level lenses, new body being $1200.
A few new lenses wouldn't hurt. $700-1200.
I bought a suit plus a bunch of accessories/suit-related items, which wasn't all that expensive, but I generally avoid spending any money on clothing so the 500 or so dollars I've spent on this in the space of a fortnight is just so weird to me.
Also spend about $400 on swords, daggers and D&D books in the past week, as immediately after finding out our very first joint filed tax return was gone to result in the government paying ME for a change, my husband found a nearby store that sells swords, daggers, and D&D books.

I'm about to spend $325 on A&M student football tickets.
Heh, sucker.
At Arkansas student tickets were $1 a game.
I love how they color coordinated the tickets for quick recognition. Really helped out after you'd had a couple.
And I don't care what anyone says, if you ain't right next to the band you ain't sitting in the best part of the stadium.
Oh hey awesome another arkansas grad!
Hey cool person! I think we met at pax east 2012 fancy dinner right? If not ignore my dumb ass.
I really should have gone to more games. I wasn't really a football fan until after I graduated.
We did meet then! I had forgotten and also there were a ton of folks!
I didn't go to enough games when I was a student. I have been graduated for five years now and I haven't been to a single game, despite living close enough to walk The Hill and watch.
I even missed the whole season where we were good! Fuck!

Well, you get what you pay for :bz
According to my buddy these are second deck 40 yard line great seats. He's a med student, and I'm buying one of his classmates' passes. I just hope my student ID still works.

Wait...

No, it is normal toothpaste. I just refuse to pay less than $1000 for anything.
but earlier this month I wrote two checks in the same day that totaled up to about $2800

If and when I ever actually see that money I'm going to go crazy and...put it in the bank.

I am saving up until I have enough to live without a job for 6 months, then I am *~upgrading my life~*
I've already taken baby steps.
Comfortable chair for my computer (where I spend substantial time), new fancy shoes, bedsheets that aren't like 4 thread count, and soon a new bed.
After that I will tackle the fancy clothes issue!
Crunch Crunch! Munch Munch! Chomp Chomp! Gulp!

And I only paid for half!
Only $100 for one of the highest quality consumer 35mm projectors ever made. Hooray for obsolescence!
