Whoever harvested my dead body's leavings and put them a chest inside my home THANK YOU. I was having a hard time finding home again and I never expected that when I did, my stuff would not just be there, but be there neatly placed.

how can people be having framerate issues in spawn already? what could possibly be causing that on a vanilla server?
Some comps (my old one, for example) actually have a pretty tough time with default MC w/o Optifine and such. And I believe there's no Optifine for 1.8 yet.

I have a pretty nice computer and Spawn slows down for me a good bit.

Also, is there a map render or screenshot of the map anywhere? I'd love to know where folks are in relation to spawn.
From what I've read, the lighting engine was changed in 1.8, but it has serious problems with lighting in water, causing the game to just stop rendering in order to catch up. There is a substantial body of water adjacent to spawn..
I hope there's a fix soon, whether in an update or by Optifine. I want to keep playing Minecraft with everybody, but 10fps is borderline unplayable. ): It's especially frustrating considering the game runs mostly without issue on the prior update.

I'll hide some outside spawn as well! I may also have spontaneous contests of some sort when enough people are on.

My computer had a bit of a meltdown and I am running off an on-board graphics controller, so it's pretty much just me being awful, nothing to do with spawn itself.
I play on a laptop with a built in graphics card. But it's like, and 8800 or something, it should be good enough for minecraft. Runs like a turd in spawn though since we changed maps.
Clarification on finding and redeeming Twixxo Heads
Twixxo Heads will be hidden around the map, not in chests, but placed like a block. Harvest these heads and save them until you have enough for something you fancy at the Shrine of the Lovebot! Let me know when you would like to redeem the heads.

Completed maps on wall:
Spawnington in the middle, mushroom biome (Island of Lemooia?) in the north-center of the NW map, mega taiga in the far northwest corner (Cascadia?), flower biome in the far northeast near the eastern border, and jungle just south of the flower biome. There be zappy fish in that one spot in the eastern sea that I missed, which is why I avoided it. Ice spires are almost directly east of Spawnington in the snowy areas. The light blue-and-green mottled area to the west of the snow is swamps.

So how far to the borders of the map were you able to get? I know there's tiny strips of land on the south side, and possibly the east, between the edge of those maps and the border.

Yeah, south and east is missing a little bit of land and when I went along the border my white marker icon was technically off the map. North and west I also went along the border and you can see that the edges aren't quite filled. Still, it's just a tiny bit missing. Thanks for making all those maps, by the way.

Don't delay from lack of hardened clay! The Donation Station of Spawnington has been stocked for your Victorian-style building needs. Currently there is one row of stacks of red stained clay, two and a bit rows of stacks of orange stained clay, and two and a half rows of unstained* hardened clay. Go forth and craft!

There is a dude selling GTX670s in the Moes Technology Tavern computer build thread for $150 each.
Going from integrated graphics to a 670 would be like going from listening to Pink Floyd over a telephone handset speaker as hold music, to sitting front row at their concert.

I used to know villagers and their trading ways. No longer, it seems. I have apparently ruined the Cool Beans Farmer of East Village, having locked out wheat, carrots, potatoes, and also cake and pumpkin pie while trying to reopen the other trades. If anyone knows how to fix it, please let me know. I kinda wanted to load up on emeralds.

Was going to fix it for you, but it looks like it's already fixed! All trades were open on the cool beans farmer when I just visited.

Hey all, after all the talk of trading yesterday, I thought I would do some more research on trading in 1.8 and I realized it didn't work exactly like I thought it did. I put together a guide for anyone interested in maximizing their trading, hopefully it help some of you out as well.
Goal
This guide shows how to turn raw materials (wheat, carrots, paper, etc.) into emeralds, as quickly as possible.
Mechanics
Every time you make a trade with a villager, there is a chance that that particular trade becomes deactivated ("locked"). Once locked, you need to "unlock" the villager to use that trade again. Note that while each trade becomes locked individually (through use), a villager unlocks all possible trades at once.
Here's the important thing to know about unlocking: every time you make a trade, there is a 20% chance that the villager is "marked for unlocking". This is an invisible, internal flag that means: "two seconds after the trade window is closed, this villager will unlock". When a villager "unlocks", all trades are useable again, and green and purple swirls pop out of the villager.
Note that this flag can be set even if you only traded one thing. For example, if you walk up to a lone villager and make a single trade, and this single trade locks, there is a 20% chance that if you simply close the window and wait 2 seconds, the villager will unlock it for you.
(In 1.8, the minimum number of times a trade can be used before locking is 2, and the maximum is 12.)
Based on these mechanics, I give you:
The Step-by-Step Guide
For this guide, I'm going to use the Farmer villager as an example, and I'll assume the villager trades for Wheat, Carrot, and Potatoes, which you've brought with you. Let's say you've got 15 stacks of carrots and 4 stacks of potatoes, and you're interested in turning all of them into emeralds.
Right-click the villager and click to the Carrot trade.
Insert a stack of carrots to the left and shift-click the emerald to the right.
Repeat step 2 until the trade is locked.
Immediately close the trade window and wait 2-5 seconds.
a. Did green and purple swirls pop out of the villager? Return to step 1!
b. If not, continue:
Right-click the villager and click to the Potatoes trade.
Insert a stack of potatoes and click the emerald to the right, dropping ONE emerald into your inventory.
Close the trade window and wait 2-5 seconds.
a. Did green and purple swirls pop out of the villager? Return to step 1!
b. If not, return to step 5.
c. Did the potatoes trade lock? Continue:
Attempt to make another trade, such as: wheat for emerald, or: emerald for cake. Make only 1 trade, then close the window and wait 2-5 seconds.
a. Did green and purple swirls pop out of the villager? Return to step 1!
b. If not, repeat step 8.
A summary of this strategy in English would be: trade your primary resource as much as possible, hoping for it to unlock itself in a loop. When that fails, use your secondary resource in tiny increments, hoping to unlock and start the process over. If all your resources lock, slowly work through other available trades (even if they use up emeralds), until you get the unlock and can start over once again.
Dangers
I have now read several reports that if you are very, very unlucky, it actually is possible to completely lock up a villager, permanently. As far as I have read, there is not a mechanism in 1.8 that will unlock a villager based on time or any other means, please let me know if you've noticed otherwise! (Or if you've got any other strategies I should add!)

Its easier just to cram all the villagers in a hole and kill them once they've outlived their usefulness, this frees up space for other villagers to breed. Their children will either offer useful trades, or be culled for the greater good of capitalism.
Bonus points if you play a modded server, as useless villagers can be put into a TiCo smeltery and melted into emerald juice. 8 villagers iirc make enough juice for one emerald.
