What is a professional to do to earn more money? Besides sexual favors...
You could do freelance work on the side, depending on what you do
I'm a mechanical engineer--freelance work is a little sparse from what I can see...
Relocate to houston.
Seriously they compete for engineers here pretty hard.

Hilariously, if you're on hold with customer service and there's no music, chances are very good that they can hear you.
So, you know, not only did you not get the help you need from that "punk ass bitch", but now when you call customer service there's an alert to transfer you to her boss's voicemail instead of helping you.
I got moved to rotating day/night 12 hour shifts at work. I'm only going to be doing this for about two more weeks then back to days for another month of training. After that; shift indefinitely.
Its nice because the way it works I actually get quite a bit of time off while maintaining an average of 40 hours per week. I'm curious to see how I will adapt to the schedule though. Flipping nights and days will take some effort.

I did this when I was stationed in Korea. In fact I still do this except now its 10 hour shifts. How often do you switch shifts? We would swap days/nights every 3 months. The first couple nights/days on your new schedule suck, but you get used to the new sleep schedule after that.

Oh rest assured it will destroy you.
eehh..... maybe
some people at work say they love working shifts. Some people can't handle it.
I think I will be ok but you never know until you try. I know there are a lot of coping methods, I need to learn to use those.

My shifts are on a 5 week rotating schedule, but the days and nights alternate constantly. For example here is what January looked like:
DD OO NNN OO DD OOO NN OO DDD OO NN OO SSSS
N- Nights (7:30pm - 7:30 am)
O - Days Off
D - Day shift (7:30am - 7:30pm)
S - 8 hour shift, 8am - 4pm
Some of those days off periods are either shortened or extended depending on if I am coming off nights or days. For example, if it goes OO NN, i actually go into work on that second off day at 7:30 pm. And if it goes NN OO DD, I finish work on that second N at 7:30 am so its more like three days off. Admittedly I lose most of the first day to sleeping and being a zombie though.
Some months can really suck, some months are awesome. As a result of the scheduling I get 4 ten day breaks a year that are totally outside of vacation time, we need them as a result of labour laws to average 40 hours a week. I have two in the summer.
I expect to be a complete zombie on a lot of the days off in between shift.

Flying back home tomorrow, hoping the air traffic controller furloughs don't affect my flight. Today a lot of flights were cancelled so here's to hoping.
Is posting job links allowed? The company I work for is hiring and I would love to try and help people out but I'm not sure if that counts as promoting?

Ouch, ya that sucks. The hardest part of shift schedules is the first few days on your new shift. Essentially you're never going to be able to settle in to a sleep schedule. Either coffee or energy drinks will be your best friend. Possibly both.
That aside, shift schedules can be awesome. When I was in Korea we worked what was called Panama shifts. One week you would work every day except for wed and thurs. The next week you would only work wed and thurs. With a 12 hour shift it averaged out to 42 hours a week and you got a ton of days off.

Interview today! I did well. They still didn't want me because I did not fit their corporate culture Their employees were just so into their life insurance shit, it was so incredibly odd.
I think I'm gonna ask my uncles if they can help me get a job, everyone I know got their gigs through family, its just a shame the only employed family that lives near me works in food service. Maybe I can get into Hamburger University like my uncles did, who knows???

You don't want to go to Hamburger U
I hear they just grind you up in there
I don't know why but I feel as if you've been waiting for the opportunity to use that for years

As long as you're not receiving direct financial compensation for it, I don't think it could be construed as promoting.
Besides, I'm getting pretty desperate.

First real day of court ever today
Most of what I've done got settled prior to even hearings
Feel like sitting my pants while telling to world I can do this at the same time
Go zen go! You...litigate for that charity? I have no idea what charities do in court. Or really what happens in court at all. If you steal the judges robes, do you become the new little-wooden-hammer-wizard?

"Hey. What time do you guys close today?"
"5:00"
"I have homework to turn in today. So if I come by at 4:55 you guys will still be here, right?"
"...Yes."
Late but I only just watched this. I didn't hear him swear? I just saw a guy who looked terrified to be reporting the news.
It was right at the beginning of the clip. The very first second he's on the screen.
And the stupid people are just pouring into the office today.
"I'm here to pick up paperwork."
"Okay. What exactly are you looking for?"
"It's paperwork from the department."
"...Yes. I need more information than that. Who is it from? What kind of paperwork is it?"
"I was told to come by and pick it up."
"..."
I'm still sort of baffled at the noises I've been hearing about Nova Scotia of all places being the one province to report job growth this year. Does not compute.
I am one of those jobs! Actually, I am two of those jobs, as I was hired on a temporary basis for a month and then found permanent employment.
Civics is not a consumer product that you can ignore because you don’t like the options presented.
First thing I see when I get into work are two big stacks of paperwork that I went through about a week ago. Turns out that the CPSC thinks we're lying when we said that they sent different information in two batches of paperwork that are supposed to be identical. So I got to go through them again to look for duplicates! Yay menial work!
Turns out we weren't lying, suck on that, government!
zomg guess what our client asked us to do
it's the most hilarious thing ever
we were on a call for the strat plan this morning and she was like oh i'm getting emails from my boss about this presentation for take your kids to work day on thursday
and we were kind of joking like haha let us know if you need help with that
and she was like so we're gonna need a 5 slide presentation about [DRUG NAME] and how it works for kids
LOL

Also when the woman says "co-anchor" it kind of sounds like she says wanker, so I enjoyed that too.
Like no one told him he was going to be put in front of a camera that day.
