really hope taking allergy medicine long term is gonna cure me of this thing where I get lots of junk in my throat all the time forever. Like if I leave it long enough I just can't breathe. So I have to do that really gross cough thing where you bring it up. all the time
I am the grossest
I've kind of had this problem permanently ever since I had a really bad flu a few years back, but probably not to the extent that you’re describing. It mainly flares up for a couple of hours after I drink anything sugary.

You've had your throat looked at by an ear nose and throat specialist, right?
convenient that this thread is here one of the few times I have a bit of sickness
self inflicted though it may be, I wish the body had a less painful way of getting rid of the junk food I ate too much of
stomach aches suck
I don't know if I'm sick or if this is just allergy congestion, but if its really another cold I am going to be crazy mad. I just got over a cold like two weeks ago.
I rarely get proper lie-down, can't get out of bed without puking sick, but I've gotten annoying colds like three times in the past... nine months or so. I always end up taking the worst day or two off work, then going back in because I'm not that sick, then being shitty for another three or four days.
through the winter with only one bout of bronchitis and no pneumonia, fingers crossed.
... i probably spoke too soon, it's still bloody cold here.
I got pneumonia once...in August.
I more or less spent a week lying in bed, repeating "what the hell?" over and over again. Partly because, seriously, what the hell, and partly because I'd just finished watching Mulholland Drive.

I've had a fungal infestation before. I just thought I had a bad sore throat or strep. It kept getting worse and worse so when I couldn't even swallow water I went in to see the doctor. I was doing the open and say ahh and he just said, "Jesus christ, what the hell is that." I apparently had a layer of black fungus growing in the back of my throat and into my mouth. They took a culture but never did figure out how I got it or where it came from. The antifungal rinse cleared it up just fine. But man was it the worst throat pain I've ever had.

I feel fine so I'll share my experience with pneumonia.
It was odd because I got it in my early 20s and was otherwise healthy. I didn't and I don't have any problems with my immune system as far as I know. For me, pneumonia felt like a bad cold, that lasted longer than colds do. When I get sick, I tend to act like the biggest baby ever. I did not act like a big baby with this. I don't even remember what each day was like, aside from awful. I can't tell you the things that I did aside from lay in bed and try to get better. I live in a 2-story house and although I am pretty out of shape, I don't normally have to stop and catch my breath when I get to the top. When I went to bed, I would wake up soaking wet with sweat from fevers in the night. An x-ray and a horse sized antibiotic later and I was fine.
As you can tell it was an exciting experience and I would be thrilled to go through it many more times in my lifetime.

I gargled a small shot of Hydrogen Peroxide a week ago to deal with a Canker Sore on the base of my tongue, behind my back teeth.
I couldn't see what it was without a mirror and flash light, and so I was pretty dang worried about what horrid thing could be messing with my throat for most of the work day.
It was placed in such a spot that it was bugging me something fierce, and I found that the H2O2 nipped it right in the bud.
Canker Sores tend to heal up pretty fast anyhow, but at least it took care of things long enough for me to enjoy dinner, sleep, and heal up.
