I'm still waiting. =/ This is just crazy. I'm hoping there's another way I can safely get tickets if the regular way doesn't work. *sigh*
Any advice, anyone?
I would bet that some of these tickets that come back in to the pool are people being afk. Sucks to be the guy that decided to go to the pooper, just to come back and see that he went past the 8 minute buy time.

Well, don't lose hope! I did, and then seconds later I snagged every day except Saturday. And I DID NOT buy more tickets than I needed. In fact I had a second browser open that got into the badge page a second time, but I did NOT buy more tickets just to resell on eBay. Don't be a jerk!
The more tickets you get now, the less you'll wind up paying a scalper.
I wonder how much it would cost to print passes with photos on them? Because an extra $20 to not have to deal with scalpers and lines and all this poopytrim would be a bargain.
Causes problems for families, young people, people who simply don't have suitable photos, and possibly transgender individuals, thereby excluding a large portion of the community. Cost is a concern, too, because an extra $20 might not be a big deal for you, but could break it for someone else. Yes, this registration system breaks it for people, too... a lot of problems, no easy solutions. If there were easy solutions, they would have been implemented after last year.
Full passes are an extra $30 this year - that didn't slow anyone down. And bullcrap that an extra $20 keeps anyone from going. First, I'm pretty sure custom printing badges doesn't add $20/per. Second, most people coming are already dropping $500-1000 on travel, lodging, food, etc... $20 is poop. Boo hoo if it breaks it for someone, charging at all breaks it for someone.
People who don't have suitable photos? And who don't own a single electronic device with a camera? And who don't know anyone that does? How many people going to PAX does that cover? Do transgendered people not appear as their preferred gender when their image is captured?
PAX is too cheap. That's their prerogative, and I have no problem with it. But I still wish they'd

Page reloaded as I was writing this. Sunday passes were available when it loaded, but not when I hit Get Tickets. FUCK
What I find to be really infuriating is that before the registration is even sold out there are scalpers on Craigslist putting these tickets up for three times their worth. I fully understand supply and demand but this is ridiculous.
sakura-con uses a system to attach the name and dob for each pass you're buying and having the passes picked up the day before or of the con. this makes sure that whomever is buying multiples is really buying for others to use instead of reselling.
whoever they use for future paxes should consider something like this.
I should be that you have to give the names of the attendees when you buy ur passes and the name are engraved onto the pass. That would hurt scalpers.
Family & friends already know each other's names. Scalpers wouldn't have a clue and it would raise flags at PAX when they are calling to change the names on all of their tickets.
No way to verify it though. One of thousands of people walks by with an engraved name on his badge... is that really his name? Who knows?
Real talk: if tickets are selling out in less than 15 minutes then it means they're too cheap or too few. Increase the price or the amount to manage the demand so this bullshit doesn't happen every year.
There's no way to make more passes. Fire code is hard limit.
They probably are too cheap, but PA does not want to increase the price, and the effects of increasing the price versus not are essentially equal: someone gets disappointed because they can't go. Many, many someones.

I've been trying to get tickets since the first twitter message, but every time my phone reached the top of the queue, the browser crashes completely, and I have to start over again. I was in the queue 3 times before 4 days sold out, and twice more before saturday sold out. Thank goodness for the scalpers who sell 4 day and VIP badges I guess.

Yep, and a good amount are going to be fake. An effortless $500 for the scammer.

There's no guarantee that those sellers will actually get the badges they claim (they're going to try to cull suspicious registrations later), and a substantial amount of them may be fake, or scams.

6 year pax Vet here (and a local). That's two years in a row I've now missed out on badges. If anyone has extras I would like to buy. ;/
At least the forums promoted me to "Regular" whatever that means...
I feel your pain. I could not get in last year, also a local and regular. But I got tickets for everything but Saturday. Wish I had some to sell but I only buy what I need. Of course, if I end up not feeling like going on Sunday or Monday, I might be willing to let a poor unfortunate soul buy my ticket. But I won't know that until I'm done going on Friday.

I remember two years ago there was a thread for tickets but only at face value. It was a way to help folks out if you had a friend/family member that couldn't make it. Unsure if that's still okay by the team but thought it was a nice way to connect Forum folks that needed/could help.

It's disallowed on the forums now because of the rise in counterfeit badges in years past. You'll have to make arrangements elsewhere, and you still run the risk of getting a counterfeit if it's not a trusted party.
My only comment is that I wish PAX would hire Blizzard to run the registrations. I've never seen the amount of bitching about Blizzcon registration or passes that I see here, and the registration process is smooth like buttah.

See that's just it. The whole ability to resell your badges on eBay is something they really need to stop. With a photo on the badge, or your name on the badge, something. For Wedjat, an explanation of your sexual identity on the badge, etc. etc.
Without this scalping BS, all of us here today on day 1 of registration would have 4 day badges. All of us!

Getting onto twitter and following your fellow PAXers is a great way to stay on top of legit people selling off extras.
On a related note to the organizers: Find a better vendor. Not only was that token exploit how the scalpers bought what is likely more than half of all the 4 day badges, but it also doesn't take a whole lot of network security knowledge to engineer a token even without using the token's lack of expiration to repeatedly buy without waiting all over again like the scalpers did.

I don't think raising the price would do anything. Even if PA decided to raise the prices significantly, people, like me would still buy the passes and it would still sell out quickly. I'd be super mad about it and think that PA is getting greedy.

Is there anyway people who bought a day pass for each day could have it changed to a 4 day? I know I would rather have 1 individual badge than 4 different ones, also it would make my collection look better ;p
I think that every single person involved would agree that the token issue is really shitty, especially those working on PAX. I would not be surprised to see a different vendor for East.
I got in for Fri only. *sadface* Happy I got in for then at least. This will be my first PAX, so I'm pretty disappointed that I didnt get in for the whole thing. *sigh* Next year.

I'd love to see you cite evidence on this. Khoo has said (along with many others) that in the grand scheme of 1000's of badges, the scalping is minimal. You're making a baseless assessment because the type of pass you wanted sold faster than you (or anybody else) expected.
The immediate answer? Must be scalpers.
OR
The more logical answer: PAX is popular, people sat and hit F5 and it sold out. Check NeoGaf, Reddit, & everywhere else. It's the same shit. 1000's of people all trying to get passes and a majority of them are probably doing it so they can actually attend.
Until somebody shows some hard evidence that the amount of scalpers purchasing passes is so high that they impacted a *majority* of PAX attendees, I'm going to assume Khoo knows what he's talking about it.
Ugh, this is a real bummer. It's especially shitty for those who were at work when registration went live. Was there even any announcement ahead of time when reg would open up? And why has nothing been done to at least stem the tide of scalpers? I wish I could finally go to PAX Prime, but it looks like this won't be the year either.
I think that every single person involved would agree that the token issue is really shitty, especially those working on PAX. I would not be surprised to see a different vendor for East.
East didn't have this problem - as a matter of fact, badges were still readily available for purchase directly from the site up to like 3 days before the event, if I remember right. I know I didn't buy my PAX East badges until reaaaaaal close to it.
There were 2 failings with the vendor:
1) The tokens they issued didn't expire and
2) Even accounting for the fact that I work as part of a very experienced network security group, it only took someone about 30 minutes to reverse engineer a token to bypass the queue entirely (*I* would never do that of course, but others perhaps aren't so ethical :P). Even a significantly less skilled security guru could have done it in a matter of an hour or so. And once that's done, distributing it to other people within the office occurs very quickly. All perfectly legal and entirely avoidable if the company hosting the ticket sales properly encrypted their tokens.
