Hey guys, my name is Elio. I'm the dude behind Bad Apple Castle.
I totally agree with your critiques. Thanks for being honest! I look forward to tweeting it. I like my comics a lot better on printed paper, the computer screen's whites+tones can be too harsh.

hey, cool of you to pop in
have you considered using something like a screentone to help establish depth?
does a good job here of separating the foreground characters from less important background details
The panels may be a bit cramped sometimes but I love the busy energy and childish style. Bad Apple Castle reminds me of a game like Mario 64 or Paper Mario where every little creature and detail is goofy and strange, and the whole world is bursting with frenetic activity and bright colors.
I'd actually stay away from that, you want a visual signifier that separates foreground from background, and the dots help with that a lot. Having them on foreground elements blends them back together. What I meant earlier was simply to darken or lighten the background so that you had more separation between your shades of grey.

mainly the latter, I do not really care what she does with her bits (but, poor The Boy, he deserves better than to be fucked around on)
but also the rapid turnaround, how she is being portrayed as the wronged party
yes, Steve is a ponce
yes, he and his band were being twats
buuuuut I still dislike him less than Esther right now
Thanks guys! If you folks like it, I'll keep on dropping it here as it updates.

Rolo - I love that look. I added it to the background, let me know if that helps any. img59.imageshack.us/img59/8863/77test2.jpg
Definitely better, although I'd back it off just a tiny bit from the grey used on the foreground characters.
harder
better
faster
stronger

Rolo (and others) check out this version, every grey gets dots. What do you think? img822.imageshack.us/img822/4985/77test3.jpg
